Tragedy! 20 children and 6 adults killed in a school shooting in CT. I'm devastated!

This has been my worst nightmare for many years, The thought of this happening to so many helpless children is beyond distressing. I wish there families and everyone affected the deepest condolences at such a awful time.

I am so glad for this very reason that we (The U.K) do not allow guns to be legal, I know it's a totally different way of life with guns in America but if it was legal here id be living in fear as this is my worst nightmare and it has just happened, I have cried for these poor children, they were so young and helpless.

I hope that ******* rots in Hell.

Oh my gosh the daily mail has posted pictures of some of the child victims all aged 6 and 7, 12 girls and 8 boys I just burst out crying looking at there beautiful innocent faces and what horror they had to endure!! Heartbreaking :'(

I remember back in July, the brother of one of the victims at the Theatre shooting that happened in the US was being interviewed & he commented that in these events the focus always ends up on the killer -- He said he felt a better way to pay respects to the victims was to shine the spotlights on them in memory & I find that still to hold true in this instance.

Such beautiful innocent lives, my OH and I both have held our daughter close & wept in sorrow for the victims and their families.

There has now been shootings in a hospital in Alabama and a hotel in Las Vegas. There was also a plotted shooting and bombing at an Oklahoma high school...

Why? Just why?

The first article I read on this (not long after it happened) said there were two gunmen, and one had ran off into a nearby forest and was arrested?? Why has there been no more talk of this second man?? Maybe it was incorrect information as it hasnt been mentioned again since??

Its horrible seeing the details coming together and I cannot imagine what those poor familes are going through that have lost loved ones. Sleep tight, RIP

I havent seen anything about that, but i know they are holding his older brother Ryan. Not long after it happened I saw fb status's saying "Ryan lanza is scum" etc etc.. which is the shooters brother, so either there was mis information or his brother may have been involved.. But surely that would of been made public by now? x

Sorry if i sound really thick i just keep reading so many different things i dont know whats right and whats wrong!
I read that he killed the Dad at home then went to the school and killed his Mum and the children and teachers!
Now ive just read that he killed the Mum and home and then went to the school and killed the teachers and children and that the Mum and Dad hadnt been together for 20 years and the Dads alive!!

He killed his mum at home and then went to the school. His brother was a work at the time and is not a suspect. The dad lives in New York I think.

Thats what confused me, I was watching a American news just after it ended and they said two gunman, one killed himself and the other was in custody.
A few hours later on a British news channle it mention two gunmen who where brothers but I never heard it mentioned in any other news apart from those two.

All i know is that the news has said that Adam Lanza had ID of his brother Ryan and that is where the confusion came from as initially they thought it was Ryan that had been the shooter. I also heard that his mother was a teacher at the school and that she had left to take care of her son. He had aspergers and needed a lot of care. I think she couldnt cope with him. She was shot first in the house and he headed out to the school. Seemingly the police have found information that indicates why he did it. Maybe he didnt even know what he was doing. Seemingly he had frequent odd 'outbursts' but was very quiet and awkward. Interestingly the man that shot the people at the cinema in America while they were watching the new batman film also had aspergers. Its so awful for the families. I am old enough to remember when it happened in Scotland. My heart bleeds for those poor little children in this tradegy and at the time that it happened in Scotland. Those children were also very young..primary 1 i think

So many people are on the autistic spectrum though, so some murderers are bound to have autisim or aspergers. I would hate to think that people (not you mumtofive) now think that either of those two things make you more likely to kill. Children and adults alike, with autism and aspergers get a hard enough time as it is, I really hope two men dont add to that.

I think as soon as the story came out the details were a little hazey before they got everything right. I think at the start also it did say his mum worked at the school, until we found out she was actually shot at home. It takes a while for these stories to come together and thats probably where we get mixed up. The wrong info I read was when I read the arcticle for the first time and details have changed since then. Its just mismatched info.

Again this is why media needs tighter regulations, they jumped the gun and gave the wrong mans name before they had all the facts.
All they care about is miss infomation sells one paper then they can sell a second paper with a update of the correct info.

It has nothing to do with IF he had any form of ASD condition. ASD does not make you anymore likely to harm anyone else than the rest of us. He clearly had other mental health issues NOT linked to ASD.

Also, I think people focus on the monster. He gets coverage, probably what he wanted. What happens when the next sicko trys to outdo him. The true heros are the staff and those little angels. I dont think the monster needs anymore speculation or coverage. It just glorifies it to other evil people.

There has not been much more info given out. Though apparently his mother had been stockpiling food in her house for 21/12(maybe more speculation). They think his mothers behaviour may have triggered his (which is wrong to assume). Police have also found a smashed hard drive on the gunmans bedroom floor which they are hoping to mend.
