I'm making DD a treasure basket, as we aren't going to any more regular baby groups, and I don't think her childminder has any, and she really enjoyed the ones they had at baby group.

I want to get some scraps of nice feely fabric...I have felt and fleece, and probably some cotton and voile somewhere, but I want to get some velvet, satin, fake fur, net/mesh, etc. I'm going to try the Dunelm Mill down the road, to see if I can get short lengths of stuff there.

Other things I have are:

Ribbons
Piece of broderie anglaise
A string of pompoms
Hair curling roller
A body puff
A hair doughnut
Wooden spoon
Silicone pastry brush
Honey dipper thing
Wooden wiggly worm
Glitter ball
Spiky ball
Fake flower
Rattan ball
Squishy wiggly centipede
Shaker

I want to put in at some point:
Pine cones
Shells
Large smooth pebbles
Baby safe mirror
Wooden thread reels
Wooden massager
Ostrich feather
Marabou

Plus I need to find an actual basket :haha:

What else have you put in/seen in these baskets? Does anyone know of any particularly good places to get stuff like this all in one place?

The treasure basket/sensory box is DD's favourite toy by far, and has been since she was 5 months old. We had it for DD1, too.

The favourite things in ours include:
A silicone covered whisk
An old tv remote and mobile phone with the batteries removed
A metal salt shaker with dry pasta inside
A shower puff
Netting material in various colours
A short length of plastic chain link
A small clear shampoo bottle with water in it
A silicone pan stand
A piece of bath mat

There are loads of other things on it but can't think right now. A friend and I went to the pound shop to her started and have gradually added to it over the years.

How about a theme? One week all wooden, next week all things found outside, then maybe things that make noise? Just ideas, I haven't put anything together yet as my little man just puts things in his mouth.

I only just heard of this not long ago but I love the idea!! Putting it on my to do list....expect I'll have it done by the time she's about 3 :haha:
