Hiya,

Just wondered if anyone had been trying to work out their entitlements whilst on leave-i'm finding it really difficult. At present i'm taking home £1400 per month, and i get the same amount whether it is a 4 or 5 month week-anyone know what happens when on mat leave as i get 6 weeks 90%, 12 weeks 50 % then 21 weeks at SMP.

Would HR work out my overall money and split it evenly like now, or would they work out how many weeks had been worked that month, and how would this work in terms of if i get paid on 24th of month, would i get paid until then, or until the end of the month. I am confused and cross cos i cannot work out how much ill be getting each month, like a bloomin minefield!

Also, does anyone know when you get paid child benefit, is it a set day each month?

I hate not knowing what ill be getting :cry:

Do you know your gross as opposed to your net. Your net is what you take home each month. You are salaried which is why your annual salary is divided equally by 12 to give you the same amount each month.

What will happen with your maternity pay is your GROSS average from the 8 weeks upto the pay day before the 15th week before your baby is due, will be taken and you will get 90% of that. They will work this out as a weekly amount rather than monthly. So for example:

15th week before my baby is due is 4th Jan. Pay day before that is 31st december, making my qualifying period 1st nov - 31st dec. They will work out what I have earned each week, add it all together and divide by 8 to get my weekly average. I will then get 90% of that for the first 6 weeks of my maternity leave.

Also, your employer will still pay you on 24th of the month.

Search HMRC SMP calculator on google and you can work it out roughly.

hi i get paid my child benefit on a tuesday and my child tax on a saturday/monday. hope this helps.

my child benefit and tax credits are paid 4 weekly, cb on a monday and tax creds on a thursday

but tbh i think it just depends on the day they process your application coz i know everyone gets paid on diff day s
