TTC #1 and charting

Hi all, I am fairly new to all this charting stuff...I got my first period after BCP on june 12th after 101 days...it ran for about a week and I started doing the OPK on CD 8 although I knew it was early...not wanting to waste strips, I stopped and on a whim (or intuition?) I took one yesterday morning on June 23rd (CD 12) on FMU. Surprisingly, it gave me a flashing smiley face! I decided to try again later in the day since I know FMU can be false (even though the package says to test on FMU). So I tried again around 3:30 PM and it was a smiley face that stayed!

I am wondering how accurate this is. I wasn't really expecting by cycle to be so "regular" after the pill but I guess it could be - I think I scared myself from reading so many forums! We BD'd on June 22 and also last night and I plan on doing it again tonight and perhaps tomorrow, but my question is, do you guys think it's really accurate, and when did your temp rise after a positive OPK? From reading, some people say it should rise the day after ovulation and others say it could take a few days...

Help please!

My temp usually rises the day after the positive OPK. That means you would ovulate on CD13, which is realistic. It took ages for my periods to regulate after stopping BCP, but everyone is different - some people are back to normal in 1-2 cycles.

OPKs are good, but for seeing patterns over the longer term I've always found temping more useful. It took me ages to get the hang of OPKs (I've been TTA for quite a while) and I still get some slightly weird results now.

Of course, it goes without saying that if you have a smiley face OPK, even if it seems a bit odd - BD!! Better to be safe than sorry

thanks for the input! we've been BD for the past three days...last night and this morning i felt some twinges in my lower right abdomen. not sure if THAT'S ovulation? I got the solid smiley two days ago, so I'm thinking it could be...temp still didn't rise, but wondering if it will tomorrow due to cramps today?

am hoping the cramping is due to implantation, but i know thats impossible!!!!!!

It's not Thursday and after my positive opk on Monday, my temp still hasn't risen. In fact, it's been 97.5 for four days (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and today.) at this point, I am thinking I didn't ovulate 😞
