So we have started our journey trying to conceive LO number 1 and just recently my OH has started back at the gym. It's kinda making me want to start but I'm a bit nervous about it affecting my chances of conceiving and then early stages of pregnancy? Am I being paranoid?

I sort of think that it will be fine as long as I dont overdo it, but we are soooo desperate for our first :baby: that I dont want to be doing anything that could jeopardise it!!

I would mainly be doing the classes - Zumba, Body Combat, Body Pump with a little gym now and then too.

What do you guys think? And what sort of regular exercise do you do?

Hi collie! I wouldn't be worried at ALL about doing excercise. Actually, my doctor told me that your chances of conceiving will increase when you excercise. He has me walking at least 45 minutes a day. But hitting the gym and doing some classes will work just as well for you! I would love to do some Zumba! My apartment complex is actually going to offer classes next month so I think that I'm going to join in that.

I agree, when i started to exercise, I ovulated on time and had a better more regular cycle, so since then I exercise by walking for about 20 min a day, and eat more veggies and fruit, hope this helps, take care, *baby dust*

Thanks girls I knew I was probably just being neurotic!! I already walk at least 1-2 hours per day (I have 2 border collies to tire out!) but I was stressing about jumping around too much LOL!

I agree that it helps with ovulation. My doc told its all good with it. Best of luck. Im working out and trying to eating right taking vitamins

I agree I have been going to step classes, running and swimming and was told I wasnt ov and not after 3 months of exercising and eating well i got my first 2 positive opk. So go for it!

As long as you're not being obsessive and failing to give your body the nutrients it needs to go with the exercise, then exercise is definitely a good thing! I cycle 50 miles a week and I don't plan to stop, unless I get early pregnancy tiredness. I don't think it'll stop me conceiving :)

I can say that I wasn't ovulating normally every month....I began exercising and started ovulating normally!

Light, Daily Exercise will Help you tremendously!

I agree with all the girls Exercise is the way to go.....the healthier your body is the more likely you are to conceive! Just make sure to drink lots of water to keep hydrated!

i was excited you listed les mills classes! i used to teach bodybalance. i'm sticking to spinning and yoga/pilates classes just because i get shin splints with any jumping around, but it will also be good later on when they say you shouldn't be jumping up and down too much. my spin teacher is 6 months pregnant and she looks amazing!

I often wonder how much exercise to do, and what kind of intensity. I also do Body Pump, Combat, Flow and some free weight stuff/cardio on my own. I find that when I'm close to AF, I am almost afraid of working out too hard, though, and it drives me nuts. I know it's fine to work out, and to be honest, the classes I go to, it would be hard to work out "too hard."

Good to know exercise helps you ovulate! Makes sense...

Hi Collie..I am having similar thoughts as you....not really jumping around but more from an ovulation point of view. I have entered my first marathon this year in October and started a training programme in January.....unfortunately doesn't look like I have been ovulating but not sure if its related! I am determined to get fit though and am hoping that my cycle will get back to normal soon....i'm doing around 5 mile runs 3 times a week and one zumba class too (which i LOVE and have just got the game for the Wii this week!) so i haven't gone mad doing loads of really intense running (although i did my first 10 mile run yest which was SOOOO hard!)

Let me know how you get on chick & good luck and babydust!

I think exercise can also help you feel better and more positive too. I'm still riding my horse most days..but i'm sure if i get pregnant i'll become a lot more cautious. LOL.

I do Zumba and body balance and then some cardio/free weights on my own and I'm not giving it up (especially now everyone's said it helps you ovulate!) I love going to the classes and it's one of the few times I'm not thinking about TTC so it also gives you a break. if you have to book a place on the Zumba classes make sure you book really early, you can only book on the day at my gym and I have to phone at 6.30am as it's fully booked by 7am!
