Ttc 6 months after cs....

I'm not quite there yet and hoping ideally to wait til she's 12 months but I can see myself bringing it forward! I've already said we'll NTNP after Christmas!

I was pregnant 6 months post c-section with #2 and again with #3.

I had a C-section 2 and a half weeks ago at 39 weeks. Our son didn't make it. We have no other children. We plan to try to get pregnant again as soon as we possibly can! I am just a little nervous about having had a C-section and getting pregnant again soon after. I'm nervous because they said I had PCOS before I got pregnant with our little guy and after dieting and losing 20 pounds in 2 months, I was pregnant! So hopefully it will work the same way again if we could be so blessed and lucky.. I'm just curious if anyone has had any issues getting pregnant so quickly after a C-section?

I'm so sorry for your loss first time mama. That must have been terrible for you.
I know there are other ladies on this forum who have conceived quite soon after a c section with no complications.
From what I have read I can gather that with any pregnancy after a c section there is a risk of uterine rupture (it's only a teeny tiny risk something like 0.3% chance) but that te risk increases if its within a year of the first c section (again only up to something small like 0.5%). So it's not much but it does increase the risk. There's also the risk of the placenta attaching to the scar tissue and leading to complications but again it's a small risk.
Again it can happen to anyone who's had a c section but is more likely if its soon after.
But that's just what I have read from various sources online.
I suppose it depends whether you would rather reduce the risk as much as you can or take the slightly higher risk.
Have you spoke to your doctor about what they advice? Because some doctors recommend 6 months in between whereas others say as much as 2 years (not sure why the disparity!!)

We haven't spoken to my doctor yet. I have an appointment the week after next, and we plan to speak to her then about it. I feel the need to start trying again as soon as possible because we aren't getting any younger for starters, and second, since they told me that they thought I had PCOS and that I may never get pregnant to start with.. so that has absolutely terrified me. I've googled it, and I've read a few things about the recommendations.. but I'm curious about people's real life experiences.

I wish I could help there but I've only just had the one section myself. I do know that sown times when it comes to getting older etc doctors are more relaxed on the advice to wait.
Are you in the USA or the UK? I know that in the UK you can't really get much support and advice on the matter until you are actually pregnant really, and then they will just treat the pregnancy as high risk I would think, maybe.
I hope some other ladies will be able to give you their first hand experience. And big big hugs to you and your partner :hugs: :hugs: :hugs:

Thanks! We are in the US. They treated my last pregnancy as high risk.. I'm SURE that any subsequent pregnancies will also be considered high-risk. I had 21 prenatal visits and 19 ultrasounds the last time.. I'm sure I'll be looking forward to them as reassurance if we are able to get pregnant again.

Frsttimemama, I'm so sorry for the loss of your little boy :/

I asked my doc a few months ago when we could begin ttc again and he recommended 9-12 months time after 1st (LO IS 6 months on Saturday) he did however say there was no "rule" it's simply a recommendation and if someone had a stillborn and was pregnant 4 months later they would completely support that (that was just his example)
But I too have pcos and couldn't get pregnant at all naturally I needed drugs to make my body ovulate.

Thank you. It's okay though. He's in a good place. I hope my doctor is as lenient! She was a very good and cautious doctor so we shall see! I was fortunate enough that diet and losing weight the first time was successful for me. I never had a period though since June of 2012. I was having some cramping and back pain and did a test just as a fluke and it was positive and that is how we found out. Losing just 20 pounds did it for me then. I gained 36 with this pregnancy and have lost 28 so far so I'm almost back to where I started. Hopefully that will be helpful for us. I can only pray. I'm ready to start walking, too, when I get the go-ahead from the doctor. I don't want to do anything to hinder my healing on the inside if that makes any sense?

Yes! All the way up to 6/7 weeks I'd think my bleeding had stopped, then I'd walk around the shops for a bit and I'd bleed fresh red blood again! So many times I'd think it was finished then it would return

Ugh. Well, I'm certainly over that part of this business. Maybe I wouldn't hate it as much (who am I kidding?) if I had our baby to show for it, but since I don't, it's really just a pain. I'm ready to get up and go and get back to everything I did before I had him!

Got pregnant with number 4, 10 weeks after number 3. Just make sure you got good vitamin stores (if low iron; take an iron as well as a prenatal and a folic acid).

If ur okay with a C-section than go for it, if you want a vbac, the more time between pregnancies is better. We waited 12 months, 13 months when we conceived.

My daughter is 7 months old and I just got a BFP yesterday. I'll be honest, im kinda scared of my incision splitting lol. It might not be a real possibility, but in my head it is lol.

That's exactly how I would feel missmichelle, I know it's not a likely possibility but it doesn't stop me being scared of it happening! Which is why I'm currently completely divided between wanting to ttc soon and wanting to wait! Congratulations on your pregnancy though Hun, as much as you are scared about any complications but don't let it ruin your pregnancy and joy of a new babba (a hard thing to do I know!).

Exactly what I'm afraid of!
My LO is 6 months today
