Hello Ladies

I have been looking on here to join a thread with other ladies like myself who have had tubal surgery to repair there Fallopian tubes, but unfortunately i have not been able to find one :nope: so Here goes!

My Name is Leanne and I'm 29 Years old, My Amazing Partner is 31. We have been together 1 year next week :cloud9:
I have 1 son who is 13 years old from a previous relationship & My Partner has a daughter 7 and son 3.

I have had a history of fertility problems for the last 11 years  which no one was sure what the actual problem was until June 12th This year. I finally found out after having a Laparoscopy that both my Fallopian tubes were blocked (clubbed) at both ends (distilled end) where my ovaries are.
I was told that my only option was IVF which i would have to fund myself. As you all will know, IVF is not cheap, totally cost per round here is £4000-£6000 i was totally shocked & heartbroken. I was also told that i should have the tubes removed because they may cause further problems for me in the future. :nope:

Having been told this information i demanded a second opinion, this wasn't true surely? In July this year i got my second opinion, and it was totally different to what i was told previously.

My fertility specialist was great, he made me feel like we could do something about my fertility issue and not just send me on my way like the specialist before was trying to do. He explained to me that i could have a procedure done called a laparotomy & Salpingostomy which was a big op that would take me out of work for 8 weeks. My other option was IVF at £1000 on the Egg share program, where you share half your eggs with someone else. This made me feel so much better knowing i had been given options and not just brushed away. :happydance:

The procedure he cut through my abdomen and cutting both the tubes open and suturing them, it took over 2,5 hours under a general anesthetic. I will not lie, the pain afterwards was horrific, I was on morphine and i still felt it. I couldn't walk for weeks, going toilet,SORRY tmi, full stop was excruciating, I was stapled across my stomach rather than stitched so the pulling was so painful. I caught 2 infections inside my stomach itself as the outside healed lovely.

After all that and almost 7 weeks later i feel much better and happier.
I am actually going back to work Tomorrow in the hospital which i'm really looking forward to. I must say this month has been my first month TTC in 11 years where everything appears to be normal and fixed. :flower:

I have also contacted a private clinic and made a very long application to donate a few cycles of my eggs to help women who cannot produce their own eggs. Were not ready to do ivf yet as we want to try naturally first now my tubes are open.
They ALSO told me they are in desperate need of mixed race donors so its perfect.

Now i would like to share my journey regular with any of you lovely ladies in a similar situation, or just looking for a TTC buddy. :hugs:

Hi Leanne! Thanks again for starting this thread! You know me from talking on my thread, but here's some more about me....

My name is Nikki, I am 34 and my dh is 29. We have been married for 7 1/2 years, and have had 4 pregnancies total, but no births. 2 ended in ectopics and 2 were miscarriages. We started ttc again July 2012, a few months after our last ectopic. That ectopic resulted in my left tube bursting, leaving me with only my right tube. After no pregnancies after 13 months I decided to start medical help to find out why. An hsg showed in September that my tube was blocked. Like you my doctor told me the only option I had was ivf. And we were also going to have to fund our ourselves. I was referred to a fs, but at my first appointment his news was completely different from what my other doc had said. My fs said a laparoscopy to unblock my tube was a better option for us than ivf!!! I was so happy!!! So now my surgery is scheduled for November 8th :happydance: 12 days to go!!!

Leanne, I also think it is such a wonderful thing you are going to do donating your eggs! You are giving other women a chance at having a precious baby that they may not be able to have otherwise, and I think that is just amazing!!!

I was diagnosed with secondary infertility after having 4 kids and a year of TTC with my new husband. After 18 months i had an HSG showing both tubes were blocked. We were sent to a FS specialist who wanted us to jump straight to IVF. Even when i asked about other options she said "we dont like to recommend that, when would you like to start ?" For a lot of reasons we have no interest in IVF, including money, we too have to self fund and we were denied medical loans. I started doing my research online and decided to get a tubal recanulization. It took some hoop jumping but I had it scheduled. My OB's office kept trying to tell me "we dont refer for that" and that i'd have to go to another OB local to the hospital where i was going (its not done at my local hospital) and on and on and on. Finally the woman understood. I tried to tell her that if i needed bloodwork before dental surgery i didn't need a new dentist, just a facility where i could get my blood drawn, apparently that made sense.

A tubal recanulization is NOT a surgery ! Its performed by an Interventional Radiologist (not available at all hospitals), the same Dr who performs a heart cath and in exactly the same manner. Its a simple procedure, low risk and can be covered by insurance as a diagnosis for infertility, as it's not technically a fertility treatment.

I had it scheduled for the 22nd of October and went in ready to have the procedure. They did another HSG and confirmed both tubes were blocked. THEN the brilliant man used a cath balloon, added some internal pressure and IMMEDIATELY my right tube opened and my left was partially blocked distally (at the ovary not at the uterus, theres not necessarily much they can do for that). When i got my first HSG they had a theory i probably had one or both blocked tubes but manged to get pregnant (3 years between kids, no BC, we also werent TTC just NTNP). The new Dr suggested I might not have any trouble getting pregnant even with that partial blockage.

I believe i ovulated earlier in the week (mon or Tuesday) and my husband was gone on business until Thursday so we're counting this month out and TTC again in November :)

Hi ladies. I'm slightly different but in the same boat. I fell pregnant last year and and miscarried in February. I then fell again in May but this was ectopic and I lost my right tube. I haven't managed to fall again and worry that my other tube might be dammaged as I have done a lot of reading about ectopics and worry that this happened in the first time due to my tubes not being in top condition. This will be my 22nd month of trying and I have now pushed for a fertility referral but my GP isn't confident they will see me until I have tried for 2 years after my miscarriage apparently they don't count an ectopic as a loss due to it being a "healthy" pregnancy! Seems crazy to me!!

Hi ladyluck84, we had to ttc for a year after I lost one of my tubes. Since we hadn't conceived in that year my obgyn scheduled an hsg, and since the hsg showed that my remaining tube was blocked, she then referred me to our specialist. When I would bring up the subject of ttc not going well with my gp though, he always told me to discuss it with my obgyn since that was her department. Maybe you should talk to an obgyn about these issues, they may be a little more helpful :flower:

I hope you find something out soon!!

Hi Ariannda, I'm happy for you that your tube was able to be unblocked during your hsg!! Hopefully you will get a bfp very soon!! Wishing you the best :flower:

Can I join?

Currently recovering from a lap and dye that showed a partially blocked tube and adhesions on my ovaries. Adhesions was removed and tube unblocked :)

My consultant said a good job was done on me and he is positive that I will fall pregnant within a year :) cant wait to be healed to get on with some baby dancing ;) xc

Hi Kezza2012 :flower: That's great news that your surgery went so well!! Hopefully you'll get a bfp soon! My surgery is in 7 days, I can't wait to heal up and start ttc again!!

Hi blue in the Uk we have to see a gp about everything due to having the NHS and they refer you to see anyone else if they think appropriate. That is unless you pay to go privately I have had a look at the cost and unless we start saving now it isn't an option for us

Ladyluck, I'm so sorry. I didn't know about the waiting period where you are.
Hopefully your remaining tube is healthy and you will get a bfp soon. I know it can take a little longer to get a bfp with only one tube, that's why we waited so long to get testing in our situation.

It's rubbish I never thought 2 years ago I would still be trying! I'm sick of it now

I know what you mean ladyluck! We first started trying 7 years ago. I originally planned on having 4 or 5 kids. Now I would settle for just being able to have one. I was raised being taught that you grow up, get married and have babies ... so I always thought it would be so easy! But, it just isn't that way. I just keep hoping and praying that this surgery will make it possible for us to finally have our little one.

Hey all

I was diagnosed with a left hydrosalpinx two years ago, which my fertility dr. says is preventing pregnancy. I have surgery to have it removed on the 13th of November! I am really looking forward to having it out, and am hopeful that the surgery will go well and that I can finally get pregnant.

Hello ladies, sorry I've not been on lately, I've jus started my new job so been really busy. Welcome all the wonderful new ladies. I'm looking forward to reading through ur posts and replying to u. I'm also in the uk but things have been different for me. It's all about pushing for that referral, not to take no for an answer! Where in the il are u luv? Are you's ladies temping and going opks? X

Hello!!! I'm 25 (26 at the end of this month) and DH is 28. We were NTNP from May 2010 and started TTC with doctors in January this year. We have had no pregnancies since we started TTC, but while NTNP I had two miscarriages (3/2011 & 3/2012). I had two cases of PID in early 2011 (Jan & April), never had a STD and to my knowledge I do not have Endo. I did have PCOS until I met my husband, for some reason all my cysts went away, my hormones balanced and my period became regular (for the first time!!). Since then I have had a HSG in Feb 2013 (right tube was blocked, left tube was fine. They unblocked the right tube) and we still did not conceive after that. In June DH had a SA done, and they said his motility was low due to his seminal fluid being to thick. We went on leave in August to see our family in the states (he's AD Air Force and we're over in Turkey) and when we came back he started FertilAid and two weeks ago started MotilityBoost. I had another HSG done this past Friday, and found my right tube was blocked again and my left tube was hard to get dye through. This doctor did not attempt to unblock for some reason, and DH's SA revealed that the sperm's head are large (I'm not sure whatelse it reveals because it's in Turkish and the doctor hasn't gotten back to me like he promised he would). I'm going to alter his vitamins slightly, and since he just started the MotilityBoost I'm hoping in a couple of months it will help. As far as my blocked tubes, I'm not sure what to do but I am going to try the castor oil packet method and see what happens.

We are planning on doing 1 round of IVF while here in Turkey (IVF only costs $3600 here for the procedure, meds and exam fee) but after that we can't because we are moving a year later. But I'm hoping we won't need to do it the first time. We haven't discussed with the doctor what options we will be taking as far as my tubes go yet, but there is a possibility he will suggest laparoscopic surgery. But I don't know if we can afford it - military insurance will only cover it if it will affect my overall health, not if it only affects fertility.

Ok..ok ....i have lurked for a long time on this site and finally got the courage to join tonight after reading this thread and realising it fits me perfectly....i am 34 and we started trying in aug 2011, never been pregnant in all this time (had few months off when we got married so not tried solidly since 2011. Anyway, lap dec 2012 confirmed both tubes blocked and initially told only option ivf. Specialist suggested lap to try and unblock tubes so had this done april 2013 (secret op v few family or friends told) and have been actively trying again for past four months...this is third month on clomid too. If no pregnancy by jan 2014 we well be referred for ivf-almost a year after the suggestion was first made! Feeling low and desperate about ttc at the moment soooo hard to relax but feel pressured to try and make these last few months count. Not sure what more we could do and feel the whole problem is still my damn tubes despite being told they were unblocked!

Hi rockyroad. Has your dh had any testing done?

Hi rocky road it's good they are listening to you though and that ivf is an option. Have u had your partners sperm tested?

Yes hes had tests no issues with him, just my tubes. I feel sure i am ovulating we are doing it at prime times im on clomid every vit going and we are using preseed. Thinking now that a month off might do us the world of good!
