TTCing with Endometriosis

Mind if I join in on this topic? I'm not sure if I have endo but I do have a strong family history of endo and have some symptoms of it so any advice is greatly appreciated. :)

Absolutely! Welcome.

What kind of symptoms do you have?

During my TWW I have LOTS of gas and bloating, bad low back aches to where sometimes I have to stretch my low back just to help it, heavy(to me) periods the first couple days(bleed through a super in just 3/4hrs). As far as family my mom, younger sis, maternal and paternal grandmother, mothers sis, dads sis had it so bad it was wrapped around her intestines. I try and think positive. Everyone who had endo in my family wound up preg more than once.

Sounds possible.. how about pain level? For me what led me to see a Dr was the extreme pain during AF and during :sex:

Yes always good to think positive. I know there are some women out there with endo who have had no problem conceiving so it is possible! GL

Hi! Mind if I pop in? I'm not TTC #1, but I haven't found any other active threads about TTC with endo.

I'm TTC my fourth and have endo. My first two babies were happy little surprises and I was TTC with my third for 13 months. I originally started going to the doctor about my long cycles and pain I experienced but it took years before anyone took me seriously. I finally got a diagnosis last year.

This time around I'm on cycle #3 and in my fourth month of trying (almost fifth month now); on cd21 and still waiting to ovulate. My doctor told me I have to be trying for a year before they can do anything to help me. :nope:

I hope you ladies don't mind me popping over. :flow:

Welcome! I agree, I couldn't find any other threads where the girls are TTCing with endo.

I'm glad you finally got a diagnosis. I spent 7 years with painful periods before any Dr even remotely was ok with looking for an answer. They kept thinking I just had a low pain tolerance when in fact I have a fairly high one.

It does suck that so many doctors are stuck on the 'must be trying for a year'. I don't think a lot of them realize how much worse the endo could get in that year making it even HARDER but the time they do take action versus at least LOOKING at the beginning. :hugs: I hope you get a :bfp: soon and don't need to get to that year mark.

We are glad to have you

I hate that they make us wait a year before they will do anything extra. It's so frustrating but silver lining my 1 year is coming up. Do any of you have regular periods but don't always ovulate?

I caved in a tested today and got a BFN but I still have 5 days to go :( hoping I just tested too early.

No pain during sex, no pain during bowel movement or urination... I have low back aches that occasionally need stretching to relieve, cramps that occasionally need midol...

Well you have a few symptoms so it is possible you have it but at a lower level/stage.

For me I have no idea what to think of CD1 today. Normally when AF shows up I'm in the fetal position, crying from the pain, and throwing up every 5 minutes. Today I just had slight cramping... Maybe it was because I had taken a bunch of advil for my headache or that I was at work and didn't have time to dwell on it. Either way I was pleasantly surprised that it didn't seem to impact my life as much this CD1.

swimmy - You're not out until AF shows. FX for you BFP! :flower:

Angel - Sometimes symptoms (or lack thereof) don't always correlate with the severity of endo. So it's still possible you have it. :hugs:

FLArmyWife - I'm glad your cd1 wasn't as bad as it has been.

AFM - 3dpo today. Feeling pretty positive this cycle. I'm hoping to hold out until at least 10dpo to test, but I'll probably cave and start testing at 7dpo. :dohh:

I have a question - if we do hit that one year mark of TTC, what do doctors do for people with endo. I know I ovulate on my own, so I wouldn't need help with that, but would they prescribe something like clomid to get me to ovulate sooner? Or would surgery to remove the endo be the first step?

I'm not really sure. Thankfully my DR didn't make us wait until the year mark. We had just finished cycle 7 when he was willing to start working on it with us. He put me on Clomid. We're doing 3 cycles of clomid and if no pregnancy we will do further testing to see if there is a blockage of some sort. He did order a SA for hubby and all came back fine.

I think every doctor has a different plan of attack. Clomid is a double edged sword though because I can and usually does make Endo worse

Well AF showed up early :growlmad: but so far no cramping I'm sure that will kick in while I'm at work tonight lol. Silver lining she will be very much over before my wedding in 9 days :happydance:

When you take clomid did you notice any other symptoms? I've heard it can make you very emotional I wish my doctor would have given it for me to take on my honeymoon.

I had no symptoms on clomid. Didn't find myself overly emotional (I have an anxiety disorder so I'm pretty overly emotional as is from that). but I know others have said it caused them crazy mood swings

:hugs:
At least you're looking at the bright side of things. glad she wont be around for your wedding

Sorry to hear AF got you swimmy. :hugs: But I'm glad she'll be gone for your wedding! :)

FLArmyWife - I'm glad your doctor didn't make you wait the full year. I asked my doctor and she said even with the endo, I'll have to wait. :( I'm also glad you haven't had any side effects from being on the clomid. I'm really hoping it works for you! :flower:

TY. I was shocked because any and all side effects of meds I normally get; and bad. It also worried me that because I had no side effects that it wasn't working. I have a higher dosage this cycle.
I think my doctor understands that a year with my anxiety could just make things so much worse to where I'd need psychological intervening if it went that long.

I'm sorry that your doctor says you have to wait. :dust: that you get your BFP before then

I was hoping to be able to take the clomid early enough that it would be this cycle but I won't have it in time. Can't believe my wedding is in 6 days! Doesn't seem real. Maybe I will get lucky this month and it will stick.

Happy Wedding day Swimmy! Hope you get a wedding sticky bean

Thanks so much with your imput! I was beginning to worry it was at a much higher level. For example my aunt on my dads side had it so bad it was wrapped around her intestines. Luckily for her she conceived a child and he's now in his 20s but unfortunately lost her second one several yrs ago.

So sorry you all have endo, but also glad to hear I'm not alone. I am beginning to lose hope, and struggle to find a doctor who takes me seriously. It takes me 12-13 months to get pregnant and both times I did I miscarried. I am now going on 10 months since the last.
Do you ladies think I should keep searching for a good doctor? I don't really want to, nor can I afford fertility treatments. Considered clomid but I think I usually ovulate on my own and already struggle with dryness and I know that can be a side affect. Anyone recommend acupuncture? I eat healthy, and avoid chemicals and toxins. Any advice is appreciated!

I know this thread is over a year old but did any of you girls with endometriosis ever end up getting a BFP?
