I got 2 letters through the post today, one is obviously my 12 week scan on 24th April, saying its an appointment for an ultrasound in the Obstetric Department, to have a full bladder, yada yada.

The second also says it's in the Obstetric Department, but it doesn't say anything about a scan or full bladder or anything. And I will be 22 weeks on the day. It also asks me to bring my FMU sample.

What's this? Is it my 20 week scan? If so I'm gutted that it's at 22 weeks. Means waiting especially long to find out if I'm having a girl or boy!

Jodi x

Update: It's not my 20 week scan after all!

Hiya it does sound as though that will be your '20 week' scan. It's a bit of a wounder that it's later but there's a plus side at least your baby will look more developed. Xx

Thanks! I'm just confused as to why on this particular letter there's no mention that it's an ultrasound or having a full bladder or bringing money for scan pictures etc!

You dont need a full bladder for the 20 week scan. But if your not sure id ring them to check but by the sound of it they have given you the dates for both of your scans x

I didn't think I'd need a full bladder for the 20 week scan with my son.. I'd had a private gender scan 3 weeks before where I was actually told to empty my bladder because I'd drank too much water! But then at the 20 week one the sonographer got very bitchy with me because my bladder wasn't full enough. She tipped the bed back to bring my uterus up higher out of my pelvis and "just about got the measurements" she needed, all while tutting and sighing. She made me feel stupid for not drinking enough and talked to me like I was a waste of space. Needless to say, I'll be drinking at least a pint of water an hour before my 20 week scan this time!!

OP, I'm glad you don't have to wait until 22 weeks for your scan :)
