just wondering how long you had been ttc before you got to see a fertility specialist and got your tests started? and how long it then too to get help/ ivf etc???
also wondering what age you are

im 25 and its going to be 2 years before i see a fertility specialist due to the waiting list and wondering if this is normal ?

Hiya,

My experience is below but I'm sure there may be women who had different experiences with getting help.

We started trying to conceive June 2013 - i had 2 losses between September 2013 and March 2014, then continued ttc until May 2016 with nothing happening so was referred for fertility investigation and had an appointment by June 2016 and i literally completed my 1st IVF yesterday (had my embryo transferred back). I did have some delays due to cysts but without those i probably would have started IVF within 3-6 months of my first appointment, my situation was based on unexplained infertility so it obviously can vary depending if they find an issue.

I believe the general consensus for fertility investigation is you must have been ttc for 2-3 years before a GP would want to refer you but i know the clinic i was under said their average waiting list for a consulation is 6 weeks.

Oh and i am now 35.

currently on a 6 month waiting list to see a specialist. I have endometriosis which i think could be causing the issues


what tests did they do for you?
i have a dd already, so if i need ivf i would need to go private. Im just wondering how many tests you get before being reffered to see if we could afford to go private for the whole lot. but no idea what standard tests they would do

Hi, I can't remember my waiting time but it wasn't long , they suspected I had endometriosis so apart from the standard blood tests I went straight in for a laparoscopy where they done the dye test etc all in one, turns out I didn't have anything and was unexplained but if you already know you have endo I would have thought you would go straight for laparoscopy too, good luck
