After TTC for over 2 years and going back to the hospital a couple of weeks ago (after they sent us away last May, telling me to lose weight if I wanted to qualify for IVF and to keep trying), things are finally moving again! No tests were ever done last year which seems complete madness to me! What's the point in waiting a year if there's something wrong with us? :growlmad: But now it's all happening.

I've had to arrange 21, 28 and 35 day Progesterone tests... but they all fall on a Sunday. I had the first one done a day late but the nurse said it shouldn't be a problem but they might want to do it all again... I also have irregular cycles so I'm hoping that I won't have to wait another 6 or 8 weeks or how ever long it is until AF decides to show up :growlmad: What exactly do the 21 day Progesterone tests look for? I've seen various links about low Progesterone levels. Does that have anything to do with irregular cycles? Does it mean you're not ovulating? Is there anything to take to cure it? I'm probably worrying about nothing but i suddenly have loads of questions which I didn't think of asking at the time.

Also tomorrow, I have to go back to the hospital for an ultrasound... the letter says... US Pelvis (Transabdomen and Transvaginal) scan and internal examination. I have no idea what to expect and i know they will explain it all tomorrow but I can't help worrying about what will happen... anyone shed any light for me?? :shy:

Btw.. I've lost 5st (70lbs :o ) since my last appointment in May 2008... I now officially qualify for IVF if we end up taking that route.

Wow, well done on the weight loss, thats amazing!

right, progesterone is released after ovulation, so they're checking your levels to see if you've ovulated. By doing the three, I'd guess they're also looking to see _when_ you ovulated. They'll be looking for a number over 30 usually.
scan: you'll have to drink loads, and then they'll put on gel on your tummy(which is damn cold) and run the propbe over. It can be a bit uncomfortable because of having a full bladder, but not too bad. The transvaginal one, you'll get to empty your bladder, and then they put lubricant on the probe and put it in the vagina. It's hard and cold, but not very wide. I'd recommend a skirt, give ya a bit more privacy and modesty lol. They'll look at shape/size of your womb, thickness of lining, any abnormalities there, and then your ovaries for cysts/pcos/upcoming follicle release for ovulation. If you have any questions, its a good time to ask as they can then look around whilst they're there :D

good luck hon, it'll be fine

Thank you!! Yes, i have to drink a litre of water an hour before the appointment... I'd better start drinking, not long to go now :o Atleast I know what they're lookng for now. thanks again

Wasn't bad at all! She said everything looked fine and looked the right size, not too big, not too small, not too thin or thick... I could see everything up on the big TV screen infront of me but it didn't mean a thing lol. No idea how she knows, but she said it looks as if I will OV on my righty side this cycle and that there are several follicles there, so she suggests :sex: for the next seven days and longer if the OH can manage it :laugh2: On CD25 at the moment... so assuming she's right, I could expect AF in the next couple of weeks....or not! Fingers crossed!

OMG!! Good luck! I will pray for you! I think the U/S will be fine/ I have never done a "progesterone" ultra sound, but I have had plenty of pelvic ultra sounds. They are just a bit uncomfortable... A little embarrassing, but nothing to worry about :)
