no, its a shame that emmad339 didnt read other parts of the thread to see that actually a lot of really interesting views were aired and discussed, instead of prematurely reacting ...
that 'them and us' wedge I've commented on before and I just find it very sad (as in ) Especially when this thread is now on p130 and still going!

Posting to subscribe, can not believe this thread is 130 pages long and its not even been locked...:dohh: I am only on page 1, will reply more by the end of the week.

Must be different then here in Alberta somehow, because I only saw the one commercial on CMT which I don't even watch.... haha and I usually see a nice breastfeeding commercial for Michigan. I am just curious what channel you see this ad on?
I think as Canadians, we don't get the American commercials that often. I know my commercial breaks, always have Canadian commercials plugged in every commercial break.
That used to drive me nuts during the Superbowl, when all the "good" commercials are aired...and we never got to see any of them!
And why can't breastfeeding mums get off their bloody high horses - don't usually get involved in these arguments that escalate to ridiculous levels but this really pi***d me off
Wow. I don't even know how to respond to this. Why don't you get off your "bloody high horse" when it comes to how we bfers supposedly all think. Take some time to read the whole thread, and you'll notice that for the most part, it was a good discussion, with the exception of a few posts. Don't just read the first 20 pages, and then decide to criticize bfers as a whole group.

emmad it has actually been mostly constructive and informative.

My girls have dolls with bottles and they will also put the doll to their chest to play feed them, they know baby's can be fed either way, they dont need a specific doll like that as they like to be 'Mummy'.

You know I just realised there doesnt need to be differant dolls at all anyway :)

The bottle is just an accesory same as the clothes, and other random bits you can get for them, if you would rather prefer to promote the idea of bf with a child and their doll then just dont use the bottle.
To have a doll aimed at bf would just be another toy marketing ploy to get more money out of us when it isnt needed :)

Good luck, you may need a cusion and plenty of coffee :)

Well I'm sorry if I've caused any offence - I'm off now as I have better things to do. But, just before I leave I thought I'd have a look at a bit more of the thread and I see what you mean about it being interesting. Pages 120 & 121 I thought were particularly informative. I always wanted to know what people were going to have for their dinner

I was going to post a thread asking where you were, hadn't seen you round in a while :) nice to see you back xxx

My God daughter is nearly 3 and regularly BFs her dolls. She was FF herself but her brother (9 months) was BF'ed for 4 months. She saw her mum BFing and happily copies this when feeding her dolls.

In fact, when I saw her a couple of weeks ago, she happily asked me if I used my boobies to feed Rebecca!

On another note, this has been, for the mostpart a friendly and informative discussion. Does everyone who has read every post so far get a special prize? It's been an epic! :haha:

It's called sarcasm - just thought I'd click on a random page to see how interesting it really got - glad I didn't waste my time:)

Then why waste your time commenting?

Because she secretly loves all of the breastfeeders that sit on high horses ;)

Its things like this that lead to getting threads shut down so dont rise to it.

Lets keep the potshots out of the thread, thanks.

I don't think doll making companies have any underhand motives in making the bottles, it's just an accessory, just another thing to sell  I'm in 2 minds about whether I'd take the bottle out of the packet before giving it to Aisling though, I'd sort of not want her to grow up just assuming that bottle feeding is the only way - but I do wonder if this is when things can be taken a little too far, I doubt she'll even remember it when she's 15! :dohh:

No need for separate bfing dolls though, you can bf any doll or teddy! Although I was given this weird little horse for Aisling that looks like it has a chicken's head, you unzip the underneath of it and there's magnets there that you attach the foals to so they can feed! That freaks me out a bit!

I was just going to say that...you can breastfeed any doll....

I don't think there is anything wrong with a doll and bottle. I can't see how it would deter a girl from BF'ing just because she had a doll and bottle as a child. Any doll can be breastfed anyway.

I think the world has gotten too obsessed with being 'PC'....

I know my youngest would pretend to breastfeed her doll if she was 'mummy' but bottlefeed is she was 'daddy', 'granny' or 'big sister' in the game. I thought that was kind of cool.
 At the cow chicken thing.
OT but My eldest was never a 'dolly' loving little girl like her younger sister but she had this TY beanie doll that she used to breastfeed.
It was so unfortunate looking that my sil christened it Fugly..even more unfortunately it stuck.
Dd1 started to call it Fugly too and to my dismay and embarassment would loudly ask me
'where's fugly, did we bring Fugly out with us!!'
to the raised eyebrows of onlookers who had caught the relevence of the name.
