Anyone diagnosed with unexplained infertility have further tests? I don't believe in "unexplained fertility" I just think its when the NHS can't or won't do any more for you. Can't decide whether to have further tests!

Anyone else unexplained? So so frustrating

I'm unexplained so far too. It is frustrating!

What tests have you had so far?

It really is. Had numerous sperm tests; blood hormone tests, ultrasounds HSG dye test adm that's it really but everything fine.

How long have you been ttc? So frustrating isn't it :( is it just me or is there a HUGE baby boom too!

Right now I am unexplained.

I have already had an hsg which shows one tube, I am having a lap done as the next step....

Im unexplained too!. Had A SA, ultrAsounds, HSG, Blood work. On my 5th round of Clomid. Been TTC 21 months. Its def hard. I have 7 people around me pregnant, and only 3 were trying and dont bitch about being pregnant. One cant take care of herself, let alone the baby she is carrying!

Me too! Iv been trying 7yrs it's so frustrating.. having a laparoscopy next Thursday to check for endo and see if an old appendix rupture caused scarring. extremely nervous.

Well, Sarahlou, it sounds like you've done all of the tests that are likely to show a problem. My HSG is coming up, and then I'll be at the end of the testing road as well. (We've been trying for a year and half and working with my OB/GYN most of that time, and just finally started with the fertility specialist.)

As for further testing, if your doctor doesn't have anything else to test for, it's probably not worthwhile to push for more. Unless of course you don't think your doctor has adequately looked into all options, in which case you might want to get a second opinion.

And so we're left on our own to obsess on google about every other possible thing that might be wrong... diet, exercise, toxins, etc. I can't say I recommend this tactic, but I suppose I wouldn't be at peace if I didn't think I were doing everything possible to control the variables.

I feel like it's just a matter of time before there's some medical breakthrough that explains why some women have had fertility problems and might have helped to classify and treat us. Sadly we don't have time to wait for that.

I have unexplained infertility as well but was recently tested for an overactive immune system. The tests came back abnormal, so basically my immune system has been killing off the sperm and any potential developing embryos. I started on a new treatment this cycle... oral steroids (Prednisone) and an IV infusion of Intralipids. AF is due on Monday. I tested early... BFN. Will test again one last time tomorrow morning. Whether it turns out to be BFN or BFP, I'm positive this is what has been preventing us from getting pregnant and it will only be a matter of time, with God's help and this new treatment, before we get our miracle baby.

The tests for overactive immune system are expensive and probably not for everyone, but for me it has already been worth it! We are also going to do additional testing for DH if no BFP this cycle. We will do a DNA fragmentation test and some sort of enzyme binding test.
