Hello all, I am so totally confused. As I understand, blue dye tests have a higher rate of false positives due to quick evap lines. Here is my deal. Every single blue dye test I have taken has shown a positive line either within three mins or by the time the urine hits the control window. Every single red dye test I have taken has shown nothing. I am posting pictures of just three tests I have taken and keep in mind, please, that all the test lines showed up within three minutes or by the time the urine got to the control window. I have dipped the tests as well as peed on them, and every time I get the same thing. I have posted a couple inverted.

In my experience, nearly all blue dye tests do show some sort of line. Based on your pictures, I'd say the tests were negative.

I am extremely vocal about how much I hate blue dye tests, because I get lines on them pretty much every time. The off brand ones, especially in clear casing, have given me a blue line, within the time limit, every single time I've tested (so, probably, at least 15 times). None of those times was I pregnant.

Good luck and please keep us updated!

thank you! I always thought evap lines were grey and these are blue, having said that, I always thought evap lines were like a pen strip and these are just like a blue pin strip. Like I stated, all red/pink dye tests have come back negative. I have used blue dye tests a few times in the past, twice with chemical pregnancies-I kept insisting that I was pregnant and my doc finally did a blood test. She found out that I did have hCG present but it was so low and was rechecked in two days and none was present. The other time I used blue dye tests was when I was pregnant with my son and the positive lines showed up just as fast as these tests did but it was just as dark, if not darker, than the control line. My new doc won't do a blood test since she's taken two dip tests and are negative. I guess I just need to stop using blue dye tests and believe all the negatives. Thanks, again.

So, after the many apparently false positives from blue dye tests, I went to the dollar store and got some of their tests. These are my results. I don't know what to think. It is almost like I have never seen a pregnancy test before, I'm going nuts! 2010-10-26 07.31.39.jpg. This one is strange because it starts where the test line would be, but then the line looks as if it was dragged to the control line.

2010-10-26 10.11.14.jpg 2010-10-26 10.11.31.jpg I think I see a line in this one, but is very near the far end of the strip. Any ideas?

Hey JarenK... I took the exact same off brand test that you did with the blue dye. If the line was blue and showed up instantly I would say BFP. I took two and the line showed up instantly... I first took a FRER with FMU on Sunday and it was negative... retested again Sunday evening with a blue dye and got a positive... retested yesterday got a positive. Everyone has had such a bad experience with evaps and blue dye tests from what i hear... I got crap about my blue dye tests saying they were evaps when they weren't. So I took another FRER this morning to show that I was pregnant.. it was positive. I am 5 weeks and it took that long for FRER to show up!! Frer is the pink test. From what I see here I can see a faint line on the blue.. re test again in the morning and if it's darker you are preggers!!!! Good luck and let me know!!

here's another kicker...ready for this.....The last time I had sex was September 9th. I am fairly certain I ovulated around the 4th or 9th. My cycle has never been normal enough to really know. I had sex on the 4th and the 9th. I would think any test I would take at this point would show up total BFP, but noooo, I have to be difficult. I am only getting possible BFP on blue dye tests and the two pink dye dollar store tests I took last night. Those have been the only two I have been able to get any sort of line on. I am also feeling "movement" but I am chalking that up to gas, however, the "movement" is never in the same place and it feels almost rhythmic. OMG. am I just driving myself nuts?

Hi Jarenk,
I'm pretty sure that if you ov'd around Sept 9th, you would have a pretty strong positive by now. But everyone is different. Do you have regular cycles? How long?

My cycles have always varies between a 26 day to 31 day cycle. My AF usually lasts about 5-8 days and are typically so heavy/crampy that I have to take ibuprofen to decrease the bleeding and help stop the cramps. If I don't take the ibuprofen, I can fill a super tampon in about 20 mins (TMI, I know, sorry). My past two AFs have been very short, two days, and I didn't even have to take ibuprofen or tampons. That is very much not normal. If this isn't resolved in a few weeks, I am going to go to the doctor, so he can look at me like I'm insane and tell me I'm losing my mind and then just hope he pacifies me with either a blood test, and ultrasound, or maybe even both!

August 20th was the last one that was typical, heavy and painful.
