UPDATE: Our neice has been picked up. She will likely go to prison..she feels getting her parental rights terminated is a small price to pay for getting freedom from probation officers and anyone telling her what to do. We meet with the baby's social worker and guardian in 2 days! so excited!
Hey Ladies, I'm new to this forum. My dh and I are in the process of becoming licensed for foster care and getting things ready/done for adopting. We have our home study completed, and are getting the foster care trainings completed. We are the adoptive resource for our neice's 3month old son. Our neice has a warrant out for her arrest (she will likely go to prison for 8 months and her parental rights will be terminated). She had stipulations/consequences for leaving her sober living home and now she is anxious/scared of those consequences. She did tell her social worker a couple weeks ago, that she did/does want to set up an open adoption with us. The baby's father wants nothing to do with him, does not want to parent him, nor does he want to see him. This will be a relative adoption, we are the only relatives who are wanting to adopt him. No one on baby's dad's side wants to adopt him. We are meeting with baby's guardian ad litem and social worker in a week.
We have had 4 early stage miscarriages.
