Now I'm really glad that my doc is so attentive to the details and so far I have been impressed with the level of health care I have had since being here in the US
But :hissy:
the constant worry over whether the health insurance will cover things is really stressful and annoying. Anything 'extra' and you end up spending all day on the phone as I did today just to find out if they will cover it. And then there is the co-pay etc etc....:hissy:

I spent 3 hours today on the phone between the insurance company and the obgyn's office and the primary care practitioners office and the specialists office trying to figure out what to do.... and ff's sake I'm pregnant and tired and shouldn't be stressed.

I'm fed up. I know the NHS is a mess too - but in this day and age it is ridiculous. on both sides of the pond it comes down to money and it should be about HEALTH.

Rant over. Hope I don't offend anyone.

I know the feeling. Sometimes I wish we had a setup like NHS cuz then I wouldn't have to worry about the money issues so much. American insurance is confusing to say the least. But then I read NHS complaints and am so glad we don't have it.

I agree it should be about health. You shouldn't be sick/dying/pregnant/etc. and freaking out worrying about how you're going to be paying for something. I wish there was one truly good system out there.

I agree. I ended up being billed for u/s that my dr. said I needed to have b/c of early bleeding. My bill is unreadable, and I don't even know what my insurance covered. They also wouldn't cover the nuchal scan even though here it is standard of care. I wish we didn't have to worry about it so much, but that is the way of it here.
