Hi ladies,

I am attempting vbac in the next days or weeks after only 15 months.. I would like to stop worrying so I would like to hear some success stories!!

Could you add how many months in between, how long was labor, were you induced with medications, your LUS measurment if you knew it, etc..
That would really help me put my mind at ease.. I really don't want another c-section and I know if I worry it will most likely end up with one so I wanna do everything I can to avoid it!!

Thanks in advance ladies! xxx

Hi, I had a VBAC 3 years after my daughter was born by emergency c-section. My labour was a bit stop-start for 3 days. I would have contractions five minutes apart all day, then they would stop all night. I woke up at midnight the 3rd night needing to suddenly push, thinking I was gonna have the baby there and then. I arrived at hospital and was fully dilated. I wasn't having many contractions so they put me on a potosin drip to help, but my contractions were only coming every 9 minutes or so through pushing which made it hard, so I was pushing a long time. Because of that I got a 3rd degree tear. I had no pain relief during labour, (but definately would have asked for an epidural if I had arrived at hospital sooner), and I'm so glad I got to experience it. Good luck xx

I had a successful vbac 2yrs 7months after my emcs. I had my second sweep Thursday morning at 40+5. I was losing plug all day but nothing else happened. Next day I was having loads and loads of Braxton hicks. Didn't think much of it to start with but by afternoon I realised they were quite regular but not painful. I timed them around 5pm and they were 3-7 minutes apart and lasting a minute but still completely painless. I rang Labour ward at my husband's insistence around 6.30. She said I could come in if I wanted or leave it a while and see if they became painful. Hubby insisted we go so rang my mum to come sit with my eldest. Was still really relaxes thinking it was all nothing. Got off the phone to my mum and had an almighty painful contraction followed pretty quickly by another. We left the house at 7.10pm with me swearing in the car for him to drive faster! Got onto Labour ward at 7.40. My contractions were every couple of minutes and so intense and painful. Was checked at 8pm and was 4cm. I got on the gas and air and by 10pm I was fully dilated. Pushed for just over ahhour with no pain relief as they took my gas away. All was great until his head was born and suddenly his shoulders were stuck and it became an emergency. Luckily they got him out very quick and he was born onto my tummy at 11.10pm... Just 3 hours after I'd arrived and 4 hours after my first painful contraction. He was pretty shocked so had to be taken for a little oxygen but I got him back within 5 minutes. He was a big boy at 9lb 3oz (I'm a tiny 5ft!). I unfortunately got a second degree tear but it healed fine. Overall I'm happy with my vbac. I'm very happy I didn't have another section. Good luck x

Great story tristansmum!! Thx for sharing and congrats!!!:)

I had my baby last Sunday naturally after emergency c-section two years ago. Last time I was induced at 41+5 got to fully dilated but baby was back to back and face up. Was told this time I had until 10 days over and after that would be another c-section. Was really getting upset at 5 days over then out of nowhere I got a contraction last Sunday. 30 seconds in length 5 minutes apart. Within half an hour they went to 3 minutes apart. Went to hospital, 2.5 hours after first contraction was 4cm. Half an hour after that waters broke got urge to push. Baby was born 4 hours 12 minutes after the first contraction. Second degree tear which is fine. Hope you get your vbac success story.

I had a successful vbac a couple of weeks ago 2 years after a c section. Woke up about 6am 10 days overdue & my waters broke. Everything happened pretty quickly & I was 7cm by the time I arrived at hospital about 9am. Had an epidural as the pain was incredible & contractions were every 2 minutes. Nearly pushed her out but her arm was wedged by her head & she was pretty chunky at 9lb so ended up with forceps, a 3rd degree tear & mild shoulder dystocia. Still far preferable to a c section & recovery has been much quicker. I was home putting my daughter to bed the next day.

My previous cs was in Jan 2012, so 28months to my vbac. The doc told me to leave 12months before having another baby so I imagine you'll be just fine with 15months in between.

mrs hm, I keep wondering if when they say 12 months, is it 12 months before getting pregnant or 12 months before delivering? Cause I was 6 months pp when I got pregnant and 15 months from delivery..

I wondered this too and asked my GP at the 6 weeks pp checkup - she said 12months between deliveries would be fine. Especially with a scar on your bikini line (not the classical vertical cut down the middle) as this part of your bump doesn't contract in labour so it isn't under any pressure.

Soooo.. For those who wants to know.. I had my succesful vbac.. My baby boy was born on june 19th after 27 hrs of labor with no induction and after only 15 months after my csection.. I also had a paper thin LUS! Still made it! These guidelines and stats don't mean anything! For any of you wanting to vbac, do what you want.. Your body will handle the rest!!:) although Im in horrible pain cause of a 3rd degre tear and a tear in my bum as well.. I still got to experience what every women needs to experience! :)

This is virtually what happened to me first time round. DD was back to back and face up and ended in emcs after 43 hours at 42 wks. Been told this time that ive got until 10 days over then it will be another section. Just hope, hope, hope the labour goes as quickly as your second!

Congratulations. Well done! Ive been told they will only let me labour for 12 hours before its a section. 12 hours isn't long so maybe the chances are high i'll have a section. Were they happy enough to let you labour for 27 hours without intervention? Obviously they were, silly question! But Im just surprised I was told i'd only get 12 hours.

They had told me they were not going to let me labour if there was no dilation for too long.. Meaning if I was at 5cm for more then 2hrs with no progress it would be a cs but I broke my water at 9pm and contractions started right away but were painful at 1am and I was still only at 1cm.. By 2:30pm I was finally at 3 so ot took 17hrs to get to 3 but they didnt consider it active labor even though i had my water broke and I was in horrible pain.. I took the epi at 3pm at 3cm and tgen everything went fast.. 10hrs from 3cm to 10cm to oushing for 2hrs to using forceps and baby was born at 12:26am
