I'm going to be blunt and awful here - not usually like this but it is a vent.
My BIL says dumb and illogical things all the time because he is dumb and illogical. I have no idea how he did as well as he did in high school and it baffles me wheh my husband tells me that BIL used to be really intelligent.
He is confused, illogical and irritating when he gets into his discussions on any never of topics.
Anyway the offending comment of the week was that parents who get (I'm sorry I don't know the correct term for this) donor ovaries or go through some kind of infertility struggle or adopt make WAY better parents who love their child WAY more because they want the child more and had to go through so much to get the child.
I just want to pound him in the face sometimes. What a complete IDIOT. First of all getting pregnant without complications doesn't mean you don't want the child as much as a couple who had to struggle to get one. Second of all - wanting a child a lot doesn't guarantee making a great parent.
How you parent and how much you love the child has nothing to do with how you got the child (at least in most cases!!!).
And wtf does he think carrying for 9 months and giving birth at risk to our own lives (esp if you are high risk as I am) is?? Easy??
Grrrroooowwwl!!!!!
