So Renah is jaundiced still and the doctor told me to wake her every 3 hours for feeds if she doesn't wake by herself to try to flush it out of her system. Thing is, she won't wake up! She'll sleep the ENTIRE day and she won't wake at all. I can manage to wake her enough to get like 1 oz in her and she falls back again. And then she's up for hours upon hours in the night of course. Any suggestions? I've tried stripping her off and feeding her but it only wakes her for a little while. She'd go the whole day without eating if I let her.

Amy was like that at first and she was also jaundiced, was only a week early, but she could sleep for the whole day - it was about 2 weeks till she started being interested in food but luckily that was when her jaundice began to clear up. Just keep doing what you are doing, there is nothing more you can do. It would be down to the doctors to treat her if it doesn't start clearing up. It makes them very sleepy, so put her in the daylight and it should help, that is what I did with Amy. Hope it clears up soon. x

Dont worry, in about a week or 2 she will wake up... Jasmine slept constantly for the first week and a half and is now awake alot during the day.

around 10 days is when they start having a growth spurt and she will wake up and eat more.

Something I was told, put her in front of a sunny window, the Vitamin D apparently can come through the window and help jaundice babies.

She will learn night and day too... Make sure it is very bright during the daytime hours, and dark and quiet at night.

salim was also jaundiced when he was born. luckily he wanted fed constantly. I fed him infront of the window during the day and made sure when he slept he was infront of the window. His jaundice was gone by the time he was 4 days old

Alasdair was very jaundice and ended up under a uv light and being tube fed so I had lots of tips given to me to wake him up for feeds! Like the others have said try to put her in sunlight. You're totally doing the right thing by stripping her off. when she's feeding try tickling her feet or just behind her ear. Also, if you hold her with your arm up her back and your hand behind her neck and turn her from side to side (like if you're north, turn her to face east and west). That was something we were told to do before the feed to wake him up. The skin to skin is supposed to be the thing that works best though. Good luck! :hugs:

Harley was like that at the hospital, in fact she probably would have slept through the night had I let her, it was really upsetting for me. She's also jaundice. They get over it though.

lol same here, now she won't let me sleep at night!
