Wanting VBAC after EMCS will they induce

Thanks Tor, sorry you didn't get your vbac but glad your ELCS was a good experience! I've heard a lot of people say that their ELCS was much better than their EMCS.
All of this is definately helped me see that a vbac is very possible without induction and even if not an ELCS won't be terrible either!

From what I can gather in the UK they will see you at 41 weeks to re-talk over your options and what the consultant will recommend will vary. For me my waters had gone the night before that appointment and they gave me until the next day to progress at which point they induced me. My consultant would not give a pessary as that increases the risk of rupture but was happy to use the drip. But you can absolutely request that a c-section is done if you go overdue rather than attempt a induction.

Thanks omiomen, I have read your story a few months ago, you went through such a lot and so scary! I hope your recovery is going ok and you and LO are well.
I have read different things about the drip, some people state that the drip shouldn't be used for induction with a vbac and others say it's ok. I just don't want to go through the experience again of being induced really, I don't know if my baby would have got stuck anyway if it was naturally going into labour but her heartrate kept plummeting and I was just so scared something terrible was going to happen to her. I was actually relieved when they finally said they were taking me for a cesarean so I could stop worrying about her heartrate and know she would be born soon and ok. Not that I take having a c section lightly of course, but I just wanted her safe by that point!

The evidence I've seen says that pitocin is preferable to syntocin for a VBAC induction, but not all hospitals follow that. Some consultants have their preferred methods and go with them regardless. If you google VBAC induction, there are quite a few results and some studies starting to show what the outcomes generally are :)

Thanks patch, it's all so confusing! I'm not even pregnant yet though so lots of time to research lol!

I've been told i will not b induced at all this pregnancy as they do not want to risk rupture. My options following my emcs are to have a planned section at 39 weeks OR (if bp behaves this time) they will allow me to go to 41 weeks and c if i go into natural labour. If it hasnt happened by 41 weeks they'll book me in for section. So i have a chance of a VBAC but nice to know there will b no induction and a back up plan if spontaneous labour does not occur xx

They won't be inducing me. I have another consultant appt at 36 weeks to make sure everything ok and its still what I want I'm sure they also mentioned internal to chrck on favourability?!. I will be treated as normal except I am to go straight in once contractions are regular. Said no to going in pool. Basically appt went like this for info
All went good with consultant, just believes I was unlucky last time and natural is 70% success after csection. They will leave me to go over if I do with sweeps inbetween but if it gets to induction stage I will only be given one dose and if it doesn't start me off it will be cesarean again and wont let me past 12 days over but hopefully I went myself with Noah just took a while it will happen like that again and she said studies show second usually comes sooner. I would have to go straight in once contractions started so they can monitor baby and ill be monitored throughout. Risk of uterine rupture is 1 in 200 but ill have a drip in place throughout ready incase an emergency trip to theatre is needed and they can monitor to foresee it happening not allowed water birth incase emergency theatre needed and unless there is a mobile monitor available ill have to stay around bed throughout x

That's great to hear susy and Kay, thanks for giving us the info, it all sounds like what I'd hope they can do for me when I'm pregnant again!

You'll have to keep us all up to date on how it all goes!

Hope it all goes well and enjoy the rest of your pregnancy ladies (although I didn't think I'd ever want to be pregnant again I can wait til I am lol!) :flower:
