Washing moses basket covers/hood/liners?

I bought a waffle moses basket from John Lewis. Now the basket really smells....I want to say wicker but i don't think it's made of that but I think you will all know what I mean....and so the hood, liner and coverlet stinks of it.

I am planning to air the basket for a few weeks hoping the basket smell will subside as I can't stand the smell of it so not sure why LO would want to sleep in it....

I am taking all the covers off, inc the hood to wash (it says they can be washed). Has anyone else had to do this/planning to do this?

It's just a bit strong the smell so I'm hoping by washing these it will smell like washing powder more and not the wicker-like material.

I wondered about this as well. My moses basket is still in the wrapper in the garage and hubby says it's silly to wash the stuff that comes with it. I might sneakily wash it anyway

I had the same issue and washed everything I could remove! The basket has been out of the box with the washed covers on for about 10 ays and I can't smell the maize from the basket anymore. I could just have got used tot he smell though!

Yeah, mine's been unpacked and ready for about two weeks - it doesn't smell at all any more

Have just got plastic draped over the top to protect from dust!

I've washed the cover, hood & liner for my waffle moses basket

I washed everything on a Mamas and Papas moses I bought second hand - even the foam mattress. Now it all just smells of powder!

i washed it all. for god's sake try and remember how to put the hood back on though - mine was a freaking nightmare as i left it 2 days before i ironed it so had totally forgotten how to do it by the time i got round to it xx

I washed it all too. It's been out of the box for about a week & I can't smell it anymore

I washed everything that will be in contact with baby, the rest i have aired just left the basket in my room with a sheet over it, and it now doesn't smell, your right though, to start is is a horrible smell.
I think it is because they put it in a plastic bag and it condenses the smell of the material used to make the basket.

I have washed all of my covers etc in fairy non bio then fairy fabric softenener and they smell much better now xx

They don't make it easy do they??... Now i need to practice putting the pram up and down...

it's all a test! i've decided not to pick up my pram until after baby is born.. starting to think that may well be a bad decision on my part!! xx

Lol Emma my pram is standing in the corner of the living room looking pretty atm... I dust it occasionally My OH keeps commenting that i need to start practising as he knows what i'm like. Cheers boyfriend!

oooh i want to go and get it noww! we've got the car seat here and it's so pretty but i've left the plastic on so it's not collecting dust

ahh you should make your boyfriend do the practising too! mine isn't interested in the pram, he wanted a baby carrier instead. then again our pram is polka dot.. i think he may be trying to cling on to his masculinity xx
