Ok...anyone hiring/buying a pool and want to chat about which ones are best. Or anyone used one and have any input? There are too many and they vary in price soooooooo much.

I am really interested in this too. This will be my first baby, but I am aiming for a home water birth......would be nice to know I'm not alone....

I'm going back and forth between La bassine and the fishy pool.

Oooh I'd love to know some info on this too. I've heard of birth pool in a box from National Childbirth Trust from a friend who had her baby at home but thats the only one! x x

I'd like to go with that one but it's a little pricey.

I would be really interested to if anyone has any experience of home birth pools. I used a hospital birthing pool with my son and only had gas and air as pain relief.

I would love to have a home birth this time and would probably have used a bath, but we only have a large shower at home now. So i feel a birthing pool would be essential. Would love one that stays warm though.

the heated ones are about 200-400 to hire for 4 weeks. YOu can buy a basic one for about 70 (no heater though). Confused as to whether a heater really is necessary...My OH and I saw a spa (called lay-z spa) for 299 to buy which is inflatable and has a heater and water purifyer. Obviously I wouldnt have the spa on while in childbirth but we thought we could use if afterwards as well then! No idea if that would work though, need to speak to my midwife.

they are really expensive i think, most hospitals have birthing pools you can go in and use i wanted to go to the midwife led unit at my hospital and have a water birth this time but im classed high risk so i cant unless they change me down to low risk later on, i loved getting in the bath when i was in labour before it helped so much with the pain it was lovely so i think a birthing pool would be fantastic

I'd seen the lay z spa on the internet aswell, I thought exactly the same as you that after a good clean out we might be able to use it again.
I think a heater is essential though as the water temperature has to be constant and the hospital pool i used had to keep being partly emptied and refiled with warm water. Wouldn't fancy having to use buckets to empty and refill!!
