My 18 month old has been making this weird face since before he was 1. It used to be just occasionally - I thought it was related to teething as it used to coincide with teething spells and he would grind his teeth while I was walking him to sleep at night. Lately he makes it a lot! He can't be teething all the time. He only has a few teeth left to come in!

It's like a kind of fish face. He curls his lips and kind of gurns. Hard to describe exactly.

I googled it and it came up with a bunch of stuff about autism and AS, is this something I should be concerned about? Does anyone else's toddler do weird faces like that?

Jordan is... And she is teething with molars and canines all at the same time. It's been 2 months of teething all at once. And I have no reason to suspect autism. She shows no signs whatsoever.

Megan made the same face while teething and once the teeth stopped hurting she stopped doing it. Megan now makes the fish face to be funny and likes to kiss us while she does a fish face as she thinks it's silly. Lol

Thanks DaisyBee. Maybe it is teething-related still, and the teeth are just taking forever to come through. It just alarmed me when I looked it up and google was all AUTISMAUTISMAUTISM on me! I never see other kids making the face he makes, and people comment to me about it (they think it's cute/funny).

I've seen it quite a bit whenever teething.... And goes once those teeth stop hurting... And then other teeth hurt and the face comes back. Dh even said something once... "oh shes doing the fish face- her teeth must be hurting"

Megans teeth came in one at a time and took all of babyhood for front ones and all of toddlerhood for the molars and canines. It was never ending with her. Jordan goes in spurts... Wham all of a sudden 3 more teeth at once pushing through. I personally like jordans way better. Doesn't drag it all out. Pain is pain I think and 1 tooth or 4 coming in, I'm sure it all hurts. At least Jordan gets a break from it, where megan never did.

What teeth is your lo waiting on?

Alexander is waiting on one set of premolars. So just those four teeth to come. I haven't even seen or felt the slightest hint of them yet.

Alexander is the same with getting his teeth in spurts - he has always got them three or four at a time!
