Welcome to 'Trying To Conceive Over 35'

Ah, I am tired again :( Funny how it sneaks up on a gal...I did go in to the hospital today to pre-fill all our admission forms, that way we don't get hit with a ton of paperwork right after babes is born  Funny too, the erceptionist (she's very young) asks me
"so when are you being induced?"
"I'm not going to be induced"
"Oh, okay, well that's fine- when is your c-section scheduled?"
"Um, I am not having a c-section" So she stares at me "Then how are you going to have the baby??"

Seriously?

"Well, I go into labor and...well, have her".
"Ah! Okay then, great! When are you going to go into labor?" with her pen hovering over the page.

 I can see this is going to take some time. :haha:

"I am not positive, it could be any day now."

"But...if you don't know when you're going to go into labor how do you know when you'll have your baby?" Demanded like I'm an idiot or something!

So after a looong time I get her to understand that labor happens when it happens and we just sort of follow along. She is still puzzled but accepted my comments anyway  Today's woman :haha:

Wow! Ummmm...all I can do is say wow...really?

I know, she was one of those gals that just assumes we have to schedule everything or it doesn't happen  I have to admit I am getting impatient even tho I am not at my official due date yet. I am in no way eager for labor pain but as I have it to deal with anyways- let's get it over with! Plus it'll be awesome to meet our little girl :cloud9: I told dh we couldn't fill out the baby's paper work yet as "she" might be born a "he" since they were never 100% positive on that :)

Has any of you noticed how when we get stressed or cramped for time that everyone wants to schedule you at once for everything? I have appointments overlapping for crying out loud! One of them is out of town so I am thinking of cancelling it. Then we have dental appointments, dh has doctor appointments, plus my appointments moved up...sheesh.

Hmm, I love the names! My favorites (and I am limiting myself to one each :haha:) are:

Alexander Pierce & Julianna Paige...but then I like Seraphina Morgan too...How about Julianna Morgan? Or Morgan Paige? Nuts! Now you have me guessing! LOL

I know, decisions decisions! I'll fly them by the family when I see them in a few weeks and see what they think too.

Do you have a backup plan for a name if that happens?

Dh does apparently :) I think we would name a boy after dh :)

Yes, I'm always juggling things like that. I'm like how is one person supposed to deal with sick doggies, a roof that is caving in, infertility treatments, 50 hour work weeks, dental appts, dermatological appts, etc. I'm blowing things out of proportion as my doggies are perfectly healthy, and my roof is fine too. But seriously sometimes I wonder how everything gets done?

I am contemplating going to see the Dermatologist though. I think I'm getting rosacea on my cheeks. Thing is that I don't know what he can do to help me as I'm sure most options are not acceptable for pregnant women, so I figure I will wait until I know if I am pregnant before I make the appointment. Maybe he will tell me that I can use some lotion that is safe for me and baby and that will make me happy!

Can I just say that 1) I'm still at work, and 2) I think my cramps are getting worse? AHHHHH.. I'm going to go home and have crabcakes and pee on a stick! :haha:

Oh, wow! I about fell out of my chair when I read this. :haha: My 14 year old daughter knows more than your receptionist. Seriously, where did they find her?

Ali- lol @ blowing things out of proportion! SOmedays it feels just about that bad. And I am thinking our doggie does have problems as she seems unable to hold her pee :( so I am constantly bathing and cleaning after her  The vet told me it is inconctinence brought on by spading. Well, wth didn't she tell me that could happen before we got the surgery done :growlmad: Oh, btw- definately pee on a stick! But be careful with seafood stuffs now...my pharmacist wouldn't even sell me Coral Calcium as it comes from the ocean and she said "I wouldn't risk anything from the ociean at this point" I guess everything is so loaded with mercury and toxins ....Will you posta pic for us (ME :haha:) to look at? [-o< lol!

TwoToGo- I know, right? I was a bit flabbergasted at that...but this hospital doesn't have much experience with natural childbirth, so I am really fortunate to have the doc that I do. In fact- I was told that when I delivered my youngest dd there 3 years ago it was their first nat delivery! No meds, nothing....So when I screamed my blinking head off the nurses wanted to run away! They were literally begging me to take pain relief! :haha: I refused it though as babes was right there. Hey- sorry if I make noise and swear alot but birth can be a total bee-otch if you catch my drift! :haha: ...Plus I have a huge issue with people blowing their breath in my face and the nurse was trying to get me to "breath" properly  by repeatedly blowing fast into my face...I guess she thought it would ease my pain  NOTHING eases the pain but to get the baby out! LOL! Anyway my dh quickly noticed and told her she was going to get my foot in her face if she didn't quit blowing on me  Needless to say- the staff is nervous about my impending labour :haha:

What a tool that girl is!

Sorry I've been MIA ladies, we've been away this past weekend at a once a year work gala thing my DH is required to attend. I had to go, too, and be the supporting wife.... actually the weekend went alright, it was at Chateau Lake Louise, which, if you've ever been to Alberta, is beautiful....
we talked all the way there and talked all the day before the event.... and all the day after the event... and I thought we had finally made some headway, but then today, one thing happens and he's back to his panicky, knee-jerking, throw his DW under the bus mentality....

*sigh*

I've been reading and am finally caught up on all of you.... what a bunch of chatty ladies you've been! took me forever!!

Ali, I'm so excited for you.... actually, so excited for so many ladies on here!

Coy, I wanted to say, I'm like you in that I am all over a natural birth. I was overdue with my first and ended up needing to be induced with an IV oxytocin drip (like pictocin) but was able to get through labour and delivery without any further intervention. It's 16 years later and I'm a little distressed about how common and prevalent choosing to induce and choosing to have a c-section has become!
There is a National Geographic series you can find on YouTube about human conception and birth which is very fascinating. Something I didn't know before is that when babes is READY to be born.... when the lungs are developed and READY, they start to release a protein.... the practice breathing of the amniotic fluid moves this protein from the baby's lungs to the amnio fluid, and then it gets into the mother's bloodstream from there.... when THAT happens, it is one of the triggers for naturally going into labour....

I'm not opposed to medically advised induction, or medically advised c-sections, but it's this nonchalant attitude that we can flippantly decide when to have baby at our own convenience that irritates me.... there is a reason nature works the way it does.... who are we to supersede Mother Nature?

Ok, well, rant is over! LOL.... I must still be irritated with DH... sorry, ladies!!

Coy, I hope you don't have to wait too much longer to meet your little one.... and yay for planning a natural birth!

*sigh*
I better sign off before I get all grouchy again!!

Phil- Thanks for your encouragement! Active labor is a bugger and yes- it hurts to the moon! LOL, but I want to do everything that I can to make entry into this world as easy for babes as I can. Poor little things go through such a shock just to get here! :) I dread the pains but I expect (and HOPE! lol) that they will be brief, even moe so than last time! My last active labor was about half-hour long, with a few darn strong pains at home...got my fx'd it'll be fast this time too [-o< lol!

Re: you being stressed. Try not to let it all get to you but know that you can get on here and rant anytime! We all rant, especially me  lol....and I rant about little stuff too, like my neighbors :haha: I hope you and your dh get everything sorted to your mutual agreement before babes is born :hugs: Lotsa love and  from all your bnb buddies!!

AFM- Just remembered...my next appointment is this Thursday...another cervical check  Babes has me very uncomfortable tonight, or did have...wedging hard into my cervix w/her head and kicking back up hard with her feet! Like she's trying to ram her way out  Very uncomforable, lol...she seems to be taking break so dare I hope she is asleep? Maybe she'll let me rest tonight :)

Jess- Good morning early! Are you going to test today? :headspin:

Ali- good morning to you too! Are you going to test today?? :headspin:

Is anyone testing today? ....:headspin:  lol

Good Morning All,

Well, I've managed to catch up on a bit, waiting for some testing to be done then ladies? I'm on CD54 today and still waiting for ovulation. Grrrrrrrrrrrrr!

Coy, I'm still routing for 30th September for you to meet you baby girl.

Ali, so excited, please post pics when you've tested.

Jess, your chart looks great, hopeful for you too.

Everyone else :hi:

:hugs: Terri, that has to be frustrating! Are you taking anything to help ovulation come on?

Ali, its still early days! Patience!

AFM- I'm sitting in the lab waiting area in the middle of my glucose tolerance test. My starting number was just barely above normal (for non-pregnant) but I'm not happy with any sort of increase. Of course, as my mom says, normal for pregnant might be a little higher than when not preggers. With my last they said I was on the high side of normal but not high enough for gest. Diabetes. I wonder how this one will go? I'm hoping the tech will share my 2 hour results- she was good and told me what my start number was.
*sigh* now I'm just bored, bored, bored and feeling gross from all the sugar in the yucky drink!
