Welcome to 'Trying To Conceive Over 35'

Hey ladies! Well day 2 of AF and in a pretty bad funk:( Finally told my dh this morning that af came and he was incredibly sweet. He just held me on his lap while I just cried. I needed that desperately. Also had some stressful extended family news yesterday and had some time this morning to just evaluate and run everything through my mind a hundred times. Now I'm exhausted...thinking about having a glass of wine...it's 5 o'clock somewhere!:) Will check in later! Oh and I just started charting but my temp this am was 97.3...is that right or do I need a new thermometer???

Happy birthday Ali!

Babydust- no, the temp sounds right, every woman will be a bit different. Generally your bbt (right when you wake up, before talking, bathroom trip, etc) is the temp you need to take. It should be in the 96's or 97's on average. After ovulation (like- the day after) it will jump into the highs of those digits and then if you get bfp it should range into the 98's...but always each woman is a bit different on specific temps. Sorry about the funk- that's happened to all of us :hugs: I am glad your dh is so understanding and sweet! Also- yep, it's 5 o'clock somewhere, go for it girl! Also- have we talked caffeine yet? I read that caffeine paralyzes the fallopian tube...the fallopian tube flexes to work the egg up into the uterus once it has been fertilized. So maybe cut out your caffeine during fertile period? Just a thought! I tried it the month I got my bfp and man was it hard! I am a caffeine junky  lol

Hey Babydust, its just gone 7pm here, so I'll give you a 'good to go' :wine::thumbup: I'm glad your OH gave you the comfort you needed and I'm sure he'll be as supportive next cycle when you get your :bfp:

Coy, what is your bubs playing at? I could have sworn she would be with 'us' by now! You go steady in that garage though, don't want her arriving while you're sorting stuff out in there. I agree that I may still get another positive. Its costing me a fortune buying all these OPKs, but it'll be worth it in the end if it gets me to where I want to be.

AFM, I went to see my doctor today, he said that when they refer people to a fertility specialist when they've been trying for less than 2 years, they just get bounced right back. They count it from a miscarriage if you've had one, so it is on my record that I had mine in June, so it is only classed as 15 or 16 months. :growlmad: He is though going to send me for some blood tests, I have an appointment for in a couple of weeks and I also asked for a scan to see how the PCOS is and if I still have any fibroids. He said once he has the results of both, we will meet again and work out where to go from there. I actually saw the doctor I like this time, he was the one who actually believed me when I told him I was sure I had gall stones, 2 others didn't believe me and apparently I had enough to make a necklace with!

Well, I'm feeling a little more positive, its just a shame everything takes so long.

Hope everyone is doing OK. Ali, hope you don't get too drunk with your celebrations, but as I don't drink, you can have one for me! Enjoy.

Terri- I am glad you got the doc you like! That makes such a difference...I am happy with the doc we have this time round. I was apprehensive as I always had a female doc before but he has been super good and dh is always there whenever we do "intrusive" work lol! My next appointment is day after tomorrow (the 10th) so  if babes doesn't come before then! :happydance:

I'm so glad you said that about caffeine. yeah...I'm a DIEHARD! prob 6 cups strong coffee per day. I know I know...terrible. I will definitely cut back or totally cut out for the next few weeks. Thanks for that!!

reading with glass of wine in hand:) Thanks!:)

Terri- you mentioned "spending a fortune on opk's" Yep- sopunds about right! :haha: But have you looked online? I bought super Internet Cheapies (IC's) on eBay and around, usually just spent about 6 dollars US currency for maybe a months worth...they are just the two lines compared but I used those up until the fertile week then I started using the more expensive cbe's and et cteera. Helped a ton in pin pointing ov day

So I have a serious case of baby brain today. Here I was dragging all day long wondering- why do I feel so crappy and no energy at all...

Oh yeah. I'm hungry. :dohh: lol

No drinking here, unfortunately my stomach has been acting up. Not sure if its still the left over side effects of the meds or if I'm getting another ulcer. I've also been craving odd things! I had a pâté and cheese sandwich earlier, then a veggie burger patty for dinner. Followed by carrot cake. My brother even said, are you sure you aren't pregnant? LOL!

Heading back to FL tomorrow.. back to the grind :(

Wow, your bro makes sense! :haha:

On the pate
Veggie Burger..I'd say  but I've never tried it! :haha:
Carrot Cake  Yum!

Nuts!for having to go back to FL right now....wish you had more time to relax :( Have you seriously considered moving back to Canada? What is stopping you, I mean do you really like living in FL? I gotta say...the weather seems betetr! One reason I am not moving back to Alaska is the cold danged winters!

And Ali- I'm not drinking either so we can be non :drunk: buddies for a while :haha: Once babes is pretty well weaned I am gonna have a serious glass of Red though! Idaho makes an awesome red wine called "St. Chapel Soft Red" omg, t's awesome :cloud9: Gotta wait though...:coffee:

Yeah, I do get the cheap ones from eBay, thats where I get the Clearblue ones from too, but when you have to test about 40 days in a cycle, so thats 2 boxes of clearblue, they're about £20 a box here, so very expensive. I did try to just use the cheapies and then if I saw a line, I would do the smileys, but I was nervous that I would miss it. As it happens, when I got the smiley the other day, the other one had a second line, but it was quite feint.

keeping fingers crossed for this month, no major symptoms like that last time being pregnant just being tired, restless sleep and vivid dreams, last night couldnt get rid of metallic bloody taste in mouth, literally checked to see if i was bleeding. AF due in 4 more days so hoping not to test too early.:flow:

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you ElizabethA, :dust: Do you do your BBT?

Got my fx'd!

Well I am 10dpiui. We have decided that if this one doesnt take we will be done with IUI. The stress and expense is getting to us. We will continue trying for 6 more months with a fresh sperm donor. This morning I saw the tiniest of spotting. Im cd24 so Im hoping its not an early period like last month. Good luck to all the ladies still waiting to test. I will be testing Saturday if AF doesnt show up first....

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you ElizabethA, :dust: Do you do your BBT?

Thanks TerriLou. Not having too much hope, think it might be a loose filling but not sure why the weird metallic bloody taste. I've never done BBT, my partner currently away but when would I start?

You can start bbt'ing anytime...have to have at least 2-3 hours deep sleep then check as soon as you wake up without getting up iykwim- no bathroom trips, they even advise against talking! :haha: as that may raise your temp. I had an mc in November 2011 too...It is heartbreaking but I ams o happy you are ttc again! Tough and determined! :hugs:

Terri- I am currently obsessed with your chart :haha: I am trying to make sense of it at the moment....going off of a few months ago it seemed like you had an LH surge on October 29 then again another LH surge February 29- which would put these two surges like 94 days apart. Next
October 29, 2011
94 days between
February 29, 2012
44 days between
April 13, 2012
63 days between
June 14, 2012
37 days between
July 21, 2012 Positive OPK October 4, 2012 (75 days between)
80 days to current

So the month you got prego your stats indicated positive opk on May 16, 2011 probable ovulation on 17 -18 w/ bd on 13, 14, 16, & 20.

On 11 and 14 you list cm as "S" is that Sticky? Hm...On June 28 you mc'd but I am seeing what seems to be ov temps on July 16-17 but FF didn't insert? Also just prior on 23-25 Watery cm? Seems like your cm is indicating ov patterns here FF is not picking up
What this makes me wonder is if the hormones from the pregnancy caused your cycle to briefly shorten within a more normal range and you ovulated about two weeks after mc first bleed began. I know my mc in November acted like AF in regard to cycle pattern and ovulation...Do you ever have AF where FF does not first indicate ov or at least get a surge of LH with opk? I am thinking maybe your hormones are just out o f whack and that's what's happening. Everything the month of your pregnancy seemed perfect in regard to bd'ing. opk, etc.
This month it looks like your cover line is around 96.6 with some surges into 97.6- a full degree higher. I wonder if your body is not attempting LH surges when you get these peaks in temp?

I am also wondering if you have a deficiency in estrogen preventing the surge of LH.
I am trying to remember if you mentioned being diagnosed with PCOS? Have you had your testosterone levels checked?

It irritates the crap out of me that your doc is dragging his feet a bit here. Why do they want to make you wait 2 years? That's crazy.....You mentioned having your blood tested- what are the tests for?

Congrats on the BFP!! Well, our Feburary pregnancy was unexpected, we werent trying as we didnt know if he could get me pregnant. After our loss in April, we've started trying in May. I think sometimes were trying too hard to be honest.
