Welcome to 'Trying To Conceive Over 35'

Phil- wow, an "18 or you're out" policy in the hospital over there? That's crazy but every place is different. No such rule here to my knowledge...my 4 year old sat in a chair next to the bed and read a book while we delivered her sister :haha: She did tell me to be quiet at one point though :growlmad: lol! I think it is awesome that you'll have a home birth and if you are low risk then - absolutely go for it! That would be so much more relaxed and comfortable. I guess I worry because my first dd was born with fluid in her lungs and they had to insert a tube to suck it out. But I do know that MW's come prepared for stuff like that  so no real worries. Dh and I are preparing in case that happens here as Kat was so close...her head was almost out and I was still laying on our bed in the master bedroom yelling at dh :haha:
Strawberry and rhubarb yogurt?! :saywhat: I am totally THERE!! I love strawberry rhubarb anything but haven't had it since I was a kid in Alaska....Mmmmmmm! :haha: My bedtime snack consisted of Vanilla ice cream :nope: Not so healthy I know but it was AWESOME

Terri- I think the scan would be a great idea, especially if you have had issues with cysts before. What did your doctor do about the cysts then? Re: weight and conception. I understand that it can be an issue but not always such a major issue I don't think. Not like hormones, etc. Do you have a thyroid issue? I know a lady that did and as soon as she got on meds for the thyroid she got prego...it always seems like we women have so much to battle :growlmad: and yeah- dh's just have to show up and implant! They should acquiesce to our timetable more often :haha: I am glad your dh is finally ready for a family :)

TwoToGo- Oh my heck that 19 year old would be mush meat! :growlmad: I remember guys like that....try to play tough and rough to impress a girl! Sonuva-B! We don't want fella's even looking at our dd's let alone trying that crap! And come on...we women know exactly what he was up to, I think my dh needs to come over and go all Bruce Lee :ninja: LOL!

Babydust- Ali knows how to post the chart...let me go back and see if I can remember :dohh: lol! I know how hard it can be cutting back on coffee! I switched to Nesquick mixed in hot milk...at least it was sort of chocolatey and it was hot and gave me something to habitually sip at! I mean it...I am a serious coffee nut. If I see an advertisement for coffee I want it, if I am watching a cop-show and one of the investigators is carrying a Styrofoam cup- I want it  Dh says I'm terrible :haha: But I think it is so worth it! The study I read came out of the University of Nevada I believe and just mentioned caffeine had paralyzing effects on the flexing of the fallopian tube- so the fertilized egg would just sit there. 1- bad because it can die before utero and 2- super bad if it tries to implant there 8-[
FirstTry- yes hon, too early to test :nope: lol! You got the poas bad too, huh? I remember that! Poas and chart reading  lol, I can't wait to see your bfp!

Ali- aw nuts- I hate catching colds on airplanes! Seems like every time I got on a jet I got sick from it :growlmad: It's the re-circulated air  Glad you took something for it though! Rest up and get better :hugs: Good to have you back :)

Jess- Where are ya? :)

Aloir- :hi: Good to have you on board!

AFM-

Well, our appointment with the doctor is today in the early afternoon. Got my fx'd there is some positive change! Dh has been checking and mentioned she seems a lot lower (he is trained a s a MidWife) and he is worried she'll pop out without any warning contractions :haha: That'd be AWESOME! lol! Anyway, last night was miserable- with all this spreading going on...I know we are supposed to sleep on our sides as we can't on our backs or tummies. Anyway it occurs to me it's double punishment :growlmad: All this hormone causing the muscles and ligaments to relax then I have to lay on my side and press those hips back in! It is very painful at this point so hardly got any rest :nope: (I'm such a crybaby aren't I? :haha:) This morning my hips and muscles feel all out of whack and hard as rocks. Dh massaged them for a while then he got worried babes would pop out  Silly guy :) He's starting to get nervous as our labors have always been fast.

One awesome thing though! The mechanic never showed up to finish bleeding our clutch so dh and I did it without the bleeder kit- I was stunned a couple days ago I went out to test the clutch and it's hard as a rock and works better than ever! So dh added more fluid and tightened everything down and we are set to go  So we installed the boosters and car seats for the 3 dd's (When Aeryn shows up) and today we'll test drive it. Phew! Such a relief to have a vehicle we'll all fit into :haha:

Anybody on here yet?...

Well, we had a good visit at the doctors office...My weight is at like 148 pounds :sad1: lol, I am guessing urine looked good  baby HB is perfect.

Doc did his cervical exam and was shocked because about 1.5-2 inches into the vagina he felt her head! He said the cervix is pushed down and back a little which is totally normal seeing as babes is shoving down. He said labor will correct the angle  Anyway he couldn't check too much on dilation and effacement because he would have to push back past babes head to do so  He said seeing as I was 80% effaced last week we are def looking at a bit more this week- not that it matters. Since she is at +1 Station he said dilation can occur in a metter of minutes. So he said he is expecting it to happen anytime. He got an emergency call last night and thought it was me  but nope :nope: lol! He said it could happen tonight so to be very prepared to come in at the first contraction.

Okee-Doke. lol!

Truck performed great btw, so we are all set for travel  No wonder I have been having such hip pain and misery down there...doc said it was normal considering.

Here's alink to an image depicting +1 Station...

I am 5'5"....so I would LOVE to have your height! :cloud9: lol! Both my babies weighed 5 pounds and a few ounces at birth (so did I when I was born) so I am guessing it is genetic? Yes, I hope she comes soon too. I tried the fresh pineapple bit tonight I have heard that it starts labor- something to do with the enzymes in it  Course I am also eating ice cream, steak,..hmmm...what else :haha: They say to avoid meat etc, when labor is eminant. Yeah? No I don't THINK so! :haha: If it's what I want I can aveit right? 8-[ Not sure the ogic behind that but....

Morning Ladies :hi:

Back from Canada, and sick. My temp was actually over 100 degrees last night! I was almost delirious and ached from head to toe. Got some tylenol and some nyquill and my temp came down and the aches went away.

I really don't have much to say on the TTC front. I'm not charting this month, and the FS put me on BCP, so even if I were to BD, it wouldn't help anyway!

I am still trying to decide which site I want to use for my donor sperm, and once I have figured that out, I'll let you guys help me with the decisions! I would look at them all, but to get the privilege to look at their pictures, etc you have to pay $150-200 per site. I don't want to pay that at multiple sites, so I have to pick the site first, then pay on that one site. I had hoped I could do this while in Canada, but the one company I wanted to use (Fairfax Cryobank) has an issue with people searching from Canada! So whenever I searched it would give me an error. Stupid, I mean they have a Canadian compliant option, so why are they preventing Canadians from searching? I'm sure it is a mistake, but until they fix it, my Mom can't help me search! Well at least not until she and my step-father do the snowbird thing and arrive in a few weeks here in FL. I can't wait to have my Mom here for 6 months! YAY!

Coy, OMG, sounds like baby will be hear any minute! Please hurry little one! We all want to meet you!

Terri - I forget if I've asked (and I probably have, so forgive the repeat question) have you ever tried herbs to get your cycles to regulate? I used a mixture of herbs in a tea, and it really shortened my cycles. I think the main herb was vitex or agnus cactus - it's the same thing, but goes by different names.

Hey Twotogo,

I'm quite dubious about trying things as everything that has positive effects, when you read up, they have negative effects too. I'm quite scared about trying things I guess.

I understand. I don't like side effects either. I will say that the only side effect vitex had on me was shortening my cycle. I felt more hormonal, but not in a bad way. I could just feel that my hormones were adjusting - not that I was a hormonal nut case. :haha:

Yes, me too. It basically made me feel more like I felt when I was a teenager. Back when my hormones were regulated. The reality is that this is how we are supposed to feel!

Coy, I can only be patient for so long, I was sure bubs would have shown up by now (and not just the top of her head). As the cysts and fibroids were found 20 years ago when I wasn't in the right place for a family, the doc just said to come back if they give me any more problems or if I have trouble conceiving. I mentioned this to my Doc the other day and he just said he'll do what he can, but the specialists don't take age or anything into consideration as they have so many people to see. The hospital I went to originally has closed down now, so couldn't go back there anyway.

I phoned up the hospital yesterday, as Doc told me to, they then told me he got the instructions wrong, they have received my details, but they will send me a letter with a date for the ultrasound. I hope in some ways that they do find some cysts and can do something to get rid of them, that might help eh?

Ali, I hope you are starting to feel better and this bug is just a 24 hour thing. Hopefully whichever place you choose to get your donor :spermy: from, it is viewable from the UK, I'd love to be involved in picking you a 'hotty'.

FirstTry, I think you are still a 'tad' too early to test yet. Got my fingers crossed for you when you test in a week.

How is everyone else?

As a matter of interest, I have seen some pills (Vitex Agnus Castus 1000mg), just wondering how much would you take and how often. Trying to read up on it, but can't find much info.

Hi ladies! :hi:

Justa quick note for now...Woke up a bit more rested but aching from, well, you know where to you know where! :haha: Dh gave me a massage last night and ahhhh it helped so much but I can only ask him to rub my butt for so long........Going to go finish my coffee :coffee: and catch up on your posts!

Terry- I understand where you are coming from ont he side effeccts. But if they are minor then probably nothing to worry about. I do think it is a good idea to research though. My MW recommended the Depo Provera shot for BC.. :nope: Whata nightmare! I mean it worked great! But the problem was it kept working great two years after we stopped taking it and started ttc :nope: Had I researched it I could have saved myself a world of trouble. But I think a lot of the natural herbs that women use to help regulatetheir cycles are very beenficial. I took black cohosh (Native American women have used it for centuries to regulate menstrual flow and other "female" problems) and it worked awesomely. If it's safe don't be afraid to try it- alot of what our physicians recommend is tons more dangerous! And scary...8-[

As you suggested Coy, I have continued to do my OPKs, seeing as my temps haven't changed. I do 2 tests, one with the lines and the smiley. Well, smiley said no, but the other had a second line quite quick. Gonna pounce this evening, then guess what? Hubby is off on a diving holiday again for the weekend, it'll be about 5 hours away, so again, won't be coming back for any bding. Grrrrr. I wonder if this will be it or not.

Well you better pounce then! :haha: What's up with that dh? :growlmad: lol! Yes, I was looking at your chart this morning and I see FF hasn't given you crosshairs yet so wondering if you are approaching a second surge? Getting close if the lines are showing dark....can you post pics of the test? I wanna mental comparison to the line pics I used...I always had a heckuva time figuring them out. I love the smileys! The only lthing I liked about the IC strips (besides the cheapie part :haha:) is that they gave me some forewarning to the actual surge!

Terri - based on some research I have done, I would take about 500-1000 mg per day. It may take a couple of months to see results, but I saw results aka a period in 4 days. I o'd on cd 23 instead of not o'ing at all. But I took FertiliTea, which is an herbal blend. Here is the link. https://www.early-pregnancy-tests.com/fertility-tea.html
I decided on the tea because I drink tea everyday, but I always forget to take pills. This was also cheaper. :winkwink: It tasted good, and I loved it.

Hope this helped! And again, this did wonders for me and I had no bad side effects, however we are all different. If I have a bit left, I could send you some. I will check and see how much I have if you are interested.

Thanks Twotogo, I have just ordered some from Amazon, I read a lot of reviews on a few websites, there were no negative comments, so we'll see what happens when it comes. the ingredients all seem to aid womens health, so hopefully it'll help me eh?

Terry- which did you order, the pill or the tea? I'm with TwoToGo I'm all for good tasting stuff :haha: I wish we had an awesome tea that tased good that had everything in it we needed  I love tea :)

I am currently taking fertilaid in the pill form. This is my first month taking it and im waiting to see if it works but what I do know already is it gave me a ton more ewcm around ovulation. There are tons of good reviews so heres to hoping....

Hello again, its the tea I've ordered. I'm not good at remembering to take pills. I have some preconceive tablets with folic acid in, but its ages since I took them. I've got a tea infuser, so I'm ready for when it arrives. I love herbal teas, so hopefully this will be nice and work too.
