Hey Ladies,

Babydust and babywhisperer, so glad to hear from both of you that you and your families are OK, it must have been a scary few days for you. Heres hoping that you both end up with BFPs after all you've been through. :hugs:

AFM, I've been to Zumba again today, great workout. The Instructor is a good friend of mine and she says she can see me improving every week. I've roped her into coming swimming with me too, she just comes on Tuesday nights and I go Fridays too. I think thats good for me, exercise 3 nights a week at the moment and when I work from home, I try to get a good 45 minutes walk in before I start. Its really hard to do at the moment as I start work at 8 and its sooooo dark at 6.30am that I find it hard to motivate myself.

I've been 'healthy eating' for a while now, but usually when I get to about a stone lost, I have a couple of binges and put on 7lbs! It is getting there, but I still need to lose about 9.5 stones to get down to a a BMI of 30! Yes Coy, thats about 130 lbs, so I basically need to lose about the equivalent of what you weigh! Its horrible the punishment I'm putting my body through every day. I am quite fit though, when I go into the office, we are on the third floor and I always use the stairs, whereas most people use the lift. I live in a 3 storey house, so I'm going up and down stairs all the time. I do get out of breath when I walk with my Hubby, but thats because I do 2 steps to his 1, so I'm always rushing to catch up with him. LOL!

Hubby read an article the other day that said excessive weight shouldn't cause any problems with TTC, but the thing is that I want to be healthy when I'm carrying a baby and I want to be able to play and change nappies and stuff without struggling. I lost a lot of weight a few years ago, so I know I can do it, I just need to stop this bingeing I keep doing.

Ali, as for the Endo, the problem here is that our Doctor has to refer us for everything, but I'll have a look into it, see if there is anyone. Hubby tried to phone the docs to make an appointment today, but they were constantly engaged, so he will try again tomorrow. The whole Doctors practice is moving premises over this coming weekend, so it'll all be disorganised for the next couple of weeks.

Anyone know where Jess is, I don't think I've seen her on here for a while, hope everything is ok. xx

Well it sounds like you are doing way more than I am at the moment! Zumba is fun, and it is a great workout, as is swimming. You can do it, you have double the motivation to do so now! I can understand the NHS limits of being under 30 BMI. If you are above it, you have an increased risk for gestational diabetes, high blood pressure which then leads to pre-eclampsia.

So you can't just go see an Endocrinologist on your own? That is too bad. PCOS is really more of a metabolism issue, that effects fertility, so the issue really needs to be reviewed by an endocrinologist to help with the underlying issues, mostly insulin resistance. Then once you deal with that, the fertility issues often resolve themselves.

If you have lost the weight before, then you can do it again! You can do it :)

Just been doing some reading, there is an Endocronologist at the Care Fertility place just up the road from me, but they say that to get help, you need a letter from your GP. Its soooooooo frustrating, theres red tape everywhere.

Terri- what's a "stone"? I know it is a measurement of weight but not sure how to convert that to pounds...Kudos to you for hitting the gym! It's hard work but perseverance pays off! I understand about the temptation to binge too, just tell yourself "no" and walk out of the store! You're strong- you can do it! :hugs: And yes, I am sure under the weight you are a very fit woman, I know muscle works that way - you stay to a healthy diet and avoid the sugars and heavy fats you will notice those muslces starting to show  I tried and tried to get a 6-pack and dh finally told me I was doing enough crunches I just need to lose the layer of belly fat :haha: Once I did the 6-pack was visable. Well, I lost that and got me tummy fat back  Not for long though I am determined

All ya'll would be proud of me :smug: I was seriously dragging and went to the store with this terrible candy bar craving....I put a Razzelberry Pie in my cart, a Turtle candy bar, and a bag of clearance Halloween chocolate...then put it all back and loaded up on tomatoes, cauliflower, broccoli, celery, carrots and steak! :smug: lol! Got home and ate some veggies and drank a bottle of water and feel a ton better

That is exactly what I have to do! No more naughty foods, and stick with veggies and lean meats, and limit the carbs. OK! You are all inspiring me.

Thank you! And good for you doing Zumba. I would love to try it but I'm about as coordinated as a giraffe on roller skates. I need to do more consistent exercise especially not that I haven't moved in days and all we did was sit around and eat pizza and soup. I feel like a whale.

I also feel crampy but no af yet which means FF was wrong like I thought. FF has me at 14dpo but my LPs are 13 days. So looks like countdowntopregnancy was right and I ovu on cd 13 which means af should start spotting tomorrow at 13dpo. I took an internet cheapie this morning and it was stark white so I know I'm out. It's just upsetting to know that with ovu on cd 13 we were able to bd 1, 2, 3 days before ovu, the day of ovu and the day after and no bfp. Sad.

Hey ladies! WE HAVE POWER!!! Yay! It has been such a crazy few days. So thankful for our church who has been serving the community with hot meals, tree removal, showers, heat etc for the last few days. They will keep it up until everyone is up and running which could be another 2 weeks from now.

As for symptoms for me, I am so outrageously bloated today. I totally look pregnant and have hardly eaten anything due to all the craziness of this week. I still feel warm and hoping my temps stay up. Actually one of my good friends today said that I am glowing...lol. She said "either you are pregnant or you got power back" lol...we all laughed but I knew she really meant what she was saying. who knows. AF is due tomorrow. We will see. Hoping the witch stays away!!!

Coy, your baby is SO cute!!

Hi Ladies, I thought I would jump in on the whole food thing.... TerriLou, I'm in a similar boat as you... my bmi was 40 when I got pregnant and I know how hard it can be to try to eat healthy, especially if you've had a bad day (those were always my downfalls!)

I have been to a nutritionist earlier in the pregnancy, and was eating mostly healthy and good... but at my 26 week glucose tolerance test, I did not pass it. The one where they give you the gross sweet drink and look at your blood glucose over 2 hours.... SO I officially have Gestational Diabetes and I've been put on injectable insulin for it. It might mean I won't be able to stay with the midwives, and they tell me I won't be able to deliver at home. I've been doing tonnes of research and will see over the next week or so what my new birth plan will look like... I've been a bit down about it, to be honest..... Anyways... what this all has to do with diet and food etc, is that I've been trying to be very vigilant about my blood sugars, and have pretty much been able to eliminate the need for insulin during the day, but am still struggling to get my fasting number down overnight... that's the number that proves to me they are right and I DO have GD... *sigh*

SO how I've been able to stabilize my blood sugars is as follows....
I've virtually eliminated processed sugars, treats, breads, pastas, noodles, things with white flour, well, wheat products in general, and I don't drink juice anymore, opting instead for tea or water or coffee and I am starting to watch my processed carb servings at meals and snacks. My fresh veg consumption is way up and way more regular than it used to be!
The nurse suggested no more than 2 servings of the kinds of carbs like breads or the sugary ones, which roughly amounts to 30 grams....
I didn't realize how many carbs are in things like iced tea! (sweet tea for my American friends!)
The other things I'm doing is eating some sort of protein with every meal or snack.... so could be a meat like chicken, or beef, or simply cheese, yogurt, peanut butter, that sort of thing....
AND this is the biggest change for me.... I'm eating about every 2 hours.... 8am, 10am, 12pm, 2pm, 4pm, 6pm, 8pm...... 3 meals on the smallish side, and the rest are just snacks.... I check my blood sugar when I wake up, after breakfast, lunch, dinner and just before bed.
I am eating more food than I was, and I'm noticing that I feel better, my heartburn is virtually eliminated! I used to be really constipated (due to the pregnancy), but that's gone, and I do believe I am losing weight.... I wasn't trying to lose weight... when I went into the Diabetes in Pregnancy clinic they weighed me and I was only 1.8lbs over my pre-pregnancy weight, so I wasn't worried about the weight part of it at all.....

I guess, I just wanted to share with you guys what I've been doing, because I think it's really healthy, and I feel like I'm eating more and starting to weigh less..... and I totally get how difficult it is to change....
I don't know if I would have had the motivation to change my eating habits if I didn't feel my birth supports and my having midwives was in jeopardy.... I'm still trying to figure out how to be able to get myself back to where a home birth is an option, so I'm highly, highly motivated to keep to all this finger poking, blood testing and no processed carb eating.....

Good work Ladies! I think about you all so much, and I hope this finds you all well!!
phil.

:hi: everyone!

Coy...that baby is so darn cute!! I love that picture! :) And the halloween costumes look like fun!! I am not a Halloween person, but I saw some really cool looking costumes.

Phil...how are you feeling?

I hope everyone is doing great! I am just checking in to see if there are any BFPs I need to know about. I didn't see any...but I missed a lot of posts. My thesis and work have got me carzy busy. But I deserve a little time to myself to come and check in with all of you. I met with my thesis advisor yesterday and my oral exams are scheduled for two weeks from today and graduation is December 15 @ 2pm!

On the TTC front, I have my HSG today at 3:15. I am a little nervous. I hope everything comes back ok. The bad news is that the doctor told us on Tuesday to abstain until after the procedure. I think I will ovulate sometime today (if I haven't already) which means we missed it for this month. :(
But if i get pregnant next month, I will be due sometime around my BF's birthday! :)

Ok...well, time for me to get back to work. If anyone has had an HSG, please tell me about your experience. :hugs:

Jess, I had an hsg, and it was a littl uncomfortable but not bad. AND.... I got pregnant the next month after the hsg. I have heard of a lot of women getting pregnant afterwards as it kind of clears out the cobwebs so to speak. I also got to watch the screen as they were doing the procedure and that was kind of neat - but I tend to be a medical nerd. :haha:

Glad you checked in, and I'm excited for you graduating in December. Not much longer now.

Hey ladies! The witch has not arrived yet:) but I'm out of tests so cant test. Boo:( lastnight I was certain af was coming b/c my legs were really aching. But I had also been on my feet all day serving meals to people without power at r church so maybe that's why. Then this am I got up to temp and had water dripping down my leg...it was not pee lol:) definitely either watery cm or something else from in there:) maybe leuchoria??? Sp??? It would be weird to have watery cm at this time of the month tho. Man I gotta get some tests!!!!! :)

TwoToGo...Thanks for your reply! Wow! So, did you get pregnant the next month without the help of any other fertility treatments?

Hmmmm...if that happened to me that would be wonderful!!

My BF gets really tense whenever i talk about medical procedures. I thought it was because he really wasn't ready for a baby like he claimed he was. But it came out this week that he is actually afraid that the doctors will find out that I am not able to get pregnant. I really don't think that is the case and I will just have to do everything I can to calm his fears.

Thanks, again! :hugs:
