Welcome to 'Trying To Conceive Over 35'

Ali- lol, I usually do post an AFM :) but for the last couple days seems like I have trouble focusing on me...I think because I attract so much attention and trouble  lol! Hm, AFM- well, today was pretty general...I did get time to do my school (geology) as dh was working outside, the dd's were playing in the back yard and babes was asleep  So it was just me :) and silence...ahhh :cloud9: Got that done, ran some errands, cooked dinner.....that's about it. Just working my days around Aeryn and the dd's right now. I still "got it" though :haha: That means I can still wash the dishes and cook dinner one-handed- with babes in the other lol! I can burp her with one hand and arm while she is over my shoulder while performing all of the other tasks with the other hand. Otherwise I wouldn't get anything done  Dh and I are trying not to spoil her...so far she hasn't had to sleep on either one of us. Kat and T both did but this time round we tried JUST NOT PICKING HER UP lol! Working so far

Wow, I can't believe the time is going by so fast! before you k now it you'll be in the 2WW and explaining all about dpo/dpt etc to me again :haha: I understand about the age factor-- dh and I were both worried baout it as stats that are out there can be pretty scary but God has really blessed us. If you are more comfortable with the other site- then switch! Fast! :haha:

YAY! I got my Coy update  It sounds like your day to day life is returning to normal, That is wonderful. Aeryn sounds like she is the perfect baby :baby: and it also sounds like your other DD's are settling into life and not causing you nearly as much grief!

I'm going to make my choice this weekend about a donor. I just need time to focus on the task and work through the options. It is a time consuming process, plus the Fairfax website is not overly user friendly. I liked xytex better. Right now I'm trying to figure out what lupron is all about. Why am I taking a drug that men take for prostate cancer? Yes, you read that correctly. Lupron is used to treat prostate cancer! Isn't that crazy

I'm also exhausted. I have already put in over 30 hours this week, plus 2 late nights, and an insane commute this morning. Get this.. the interstate was closed due to an accident, so I had to take side streets but then there was an accident on the side street, so totally crazy, so my 25 minute commute took an hour :growlmad: I think I'll have a small bowl of ice cream and then go to bed

BabyWhisperer is having trouble with her power again, the weather has gone bad again in the NE, and the winds are blowing. I hope she is OK! That area doesn't need any more miserable weather, I certainly hope things get better soon.

Ali-

I researched Lupron and IVF:
• as the trigger injection prior to egg retrieval to reduce the risk of hyperstimulation
• as part of the “flare” protocol to help women who respond poorly to fertility medications.
• suppression of the pituitary to prevent ovulation
https://www.ivf1.com/ivf-lupron/

I guess that is why they give it? What did your doctor say? Yes, best to take the weekend and just try to concentrate on that one thing--I find this helps too once in a while especially if I have a final assignment to do or something....Get yourself some healthy munchies and a few treats for your pups and spend the day relaxing and picking your man! :haha:

Re: forget the small bowl of ice cream- just take the tub and knock yourself out! I've had days like that and since I can't drink wine right now :haha: ice cream works

AFM (again): we just had more wood delivered  YAY! I am feeling ready for winter and so blessed in so many ways, I am trying not to let this pending court case irritate me too much :)

:hugs: to all you ladies!!!

Yes, I'm doing it to suppress my pituitary, I just don't understand how this helps? That is what I don't understand. I guess I will in time! You know me, I need to know how everything works, what it does, why it is good, what my levels should look like, etc.

Aha...well, okay, then I am going to research why we have to suppress our pituitary when ttc via IVF...Hm. Be right back with more info!! lol

AFM- Um, I had an AWESOME evening last night. Well, sort of. Never did get my hot shower :sad1: but I did get a bowl of ice cream with fudge sauce (sorry thighs) and everyone went to bed leaving Aeryn and I to watch "Red" with Bruce Willis :cloud9: I know, I know, he is old and bald now, but hey- once a crush always a crush right? :haha: Actually reminds me very much of my dh in attitude, etc...the character he plays on screen of course (not the old and balding bit :) ) Then we went to bed. I checked her diaper over and over- dry ALL NIGHT until 5 am when she decided to pee up to her armpits  so it was spongebath time and new clothes :haha: lol!

See? You are getting into a rhythm and things are going well. :yipee: I knew it would happen. It was just going to take time for everything to get back to normal. Now the DDs aren't stressed anymore and Aeryn is doing her thing. You even got to relax, how awesome is that! :wohoo: I think Bruce is hot too, and yes, once a crush, always a crush!
Thanks for making me laugh about the pee up to the armpits! :haha:

Not much going on here, I'm working from home, so not as much pestering from others, and I can actually get work done.

I got the report...of 9 eggs, 8 were mature and 6 fertilized! We have 6 embryos! Yay!!!!!

Hi ladies, just checking in. Life is a bit stressful and pants at the moment. I'm working 12 days on the trot so can just about get on to lurk. I don't feel up to posting much but I am trying to keep up!!!

Hopefully I'll be back to normal soon. I think I'm just a little down as I'm still WTT, people pregnant everywhere and I am having no luck finding a new job and time is rumbling on until I probably finish.

On the up I am getting my hysterscopy on the 22nd. I'm not nervous about the procedure, just the results. Just praying my body hasnt changed a lot since my laparoscopy in 2008.

Glad to read everybody is doing well.

xoxo

Nice to hear from you! Sorry things are a little 'pants' as you say. Is this the next test on the road to determining why you keep miscarrying? I really hope they figure it out for you!
I hear you about everyone being pregnant. It seems like it is all over the place! It makes me sad too

Keep lurking, and when you feel up to it we always love to hear from you!

Coy!

How are you doing? Another wonderful day wit your 3 beautiful DDs?

Here is my day..

Worked 11 hours. Stupid me just kept plugging away. I need to stop doing that! Zoe is going to get her sutures out tomorrow, YAY! I'm going to take Zach with me to get his nails trimmed. Plus he hasn't been to my normal vet yet, so this will be a first. I want to start taking him there once my Banfield year is up (paid for a year of treatment up front). I have the morning off, so I can sleep in a little YAY! Then take the doggies to the vet, and if its cool enough, I'll run into the store for a few items (and leave them in the car), yesterday morning it was 60 degrees, so I think it should be cool enough, but we'll see.

I found out some really interesting information about IVF and all the factors that effect your success: https://www.ivf-indiana.com/education/why-does-ivf-fail/index.html It is a wealth of information. Click on each of the different sections for greater detail.

Lupron - it is used to rev the engine, so to speak. So your pituitary starts to produce FSH and LH, but they don't get secreted. Then you go off the Lupron and BAM! The ovaries get inundated with FSH and LH and hopefully produce lots of follicles. I think I see now why my Dr didn't want to do this with me initially. Since I made lots of follicles on my own. :haha: I hope I don't produce 2x the number of follicles as I did before. Last time I had 33 follicles :argh:

I also read about why smoking can lower your chances of having a successful IVF by as much as 50%. Smoking is known to reduce your chances of implantation because it makes the zona pellucida thicker (the shell that needs to be broken for the embryo to implant). It also makes the uterus less hospitable apparently. I bet this is why I didn't get pregnant last time, and possibly all summer too. Good thing I haven't had a smoke in a month! Yes 1 month today :yipee: :wohoo:

I'm going to go pat myself on the back for not smoking, and enjoy the next hour relaxing with my pups before I go to bed

Ali- lol, yes babies pee up to the armpits quite frequently! :haha: She has been such a good girl today, showing her spoiled a little bit and wanting to be held all the time when she is awake, but can't blame her for that :cloud9: Glad you are able to work from home today and relax a bit too! Oh, yeah- STOP WORKING SO MANY FLIPPING HOURS! Belive me, I know how it is- I would work 10-13 hour days, I hated it but as a boss I had to. If you are not the boss- stop at 8 Ali! :growlmad: Oh- and I am going to pat you on the back for not smoking too!

FirstTry- that's amazing on the fertilized egg count!! Are you going to freeze some, how many do you want to try to implant...?

Angel- so glad to hear from you! :hugs: How long will you wtt?

AFM- PICS! :)

I would have posted the "nakey" pic but not sure if that is permissible on bnb! :haha: lol

You are so sweet, TwoToGo!

And thank you, Ali. Congrats on quitting smoking!

Coy: thank you. We have to see how many continue to grow. My RE will only freeze day 5 embryos. Today is day 2, so we're waiting to hear how many of the 6 are still doing well. If it's not many, we will do the transfer tomorrow. If all 6 are still looking good, I think that means transfer will be on Monday (day 5) and any extras will be frozen. I read that only 1/3 of IVF cycles result in extra frozen embryos. FX'd!

Also, Aeryn is gorgeous!!!

I just got the call. All 6 embryos are still doing well! Yay!!! That is the best possible news. I thought we'd lose at least one overnight. Transfer will be on day 5, Monday!

That is exciting news! We made it to day 5 too, but something happened between day 3 and day 5 and my embryos didn't do as well. Only 2 of the 5 made it to blastocyst, and 1 was sorta kinda OK. My Dr said after that it is the sperm that makes an embryo make it from day 3 to 5, but I don't know. Maybe it was me?

Will you get updates over the weekend about them or do they just babysit them for you until Monday? I bet you are excited that you decided to do the IVF. Your results thus far are every promising

I can't wait to hear how they do and if you have some to freeze!

Thanks, Ali! I realize that lots can happen between now and Monday, but I'm glad it's going this well so far. They are supposed to call me tomorrow to schedule the Monday ET. I'm guessing they are waiting to see how they look tomorrow before scheduling.

If all is good, the doctor will call Monday morning to discuss/recommend how many we should transfer.

I hope your workload lightens. On the other hand, now is a good time to rack up brownie points so you can take time off when you need it (ER, ET, delivery!)

Your FS sounds exactly like mine. The plans and the schedule is all the same! They explained to me that they wait until day 3 to make the decision for day 3 or day 5, I guess they can tell by how well they have done the first 3 days whether they will continue to do so. I had 5 beauties on day 3, 0-10% fragmentation, and they were all 8 cell. It was so neat to see the pictures!

Yes, that is part of my plan, to work a little extra so that when I need to take time off I don't feel guilty. My FS insists on a day off after the ER, and 2 days after ET. Interestingly enough, I would have preferred 2 after the ER, I was in that much pain, but it was on a Friday so I just relaxed through the weekend anyway. So yes, that means 3 days right there!

I really hope all of your little embies keep developing and you have lots to choose from on day 5, and then can freeze some
