Welcome to 'Trying To Conceive Over 35'

Babywhisperer! How are you girl? Been off the board for a little while and trying to catch up but failing miserably! Totally sounds like hormones!!!!

Ali, what a day is right! I have never tried accupuncture...thinking about it though. Does it hurt??? I'm terrible with needles!

AFM, I got a triphasic on my chart!!!! Although my temps have been exactly the same for 3 days in a row...weird. But I took my temp at 4:30am b/c I have major insomnia right now...Woke up at 3:30 and finally just gave in at 4:30 and got up. :haha: I hope this is a good sign!!!

Ahhh :coffee: last day of work until Monday :yipee: acupuncture doesn't hurt, it feels like a mosquito is biting you but disappears. I found that I was totally relaxed after the treatment. Definitely worth trying if you are doing IVF, or maybe even IUI. I am on another thread where I've seen women do acupuncture to improve their chances of a successful cycle. The key to it is that they can improve blood flow to the areas, and get your body more balanced in order to be prepared for the baby. I figure we've spent this much money what is another grand?

I'm on call tomorrow  but I have a plan to go spend the afternoon with friends for thanksgiving. I'll take my laptop with me and will hopefully NOT get a call, but if I do we have a plan. I just need my laptop, wifi and my cell. I highly doubt that people will be filling calling our support line tomorrow. I don't have to 'work' just make sure that nobody calls the line. So it shouldn't be too bad!

Hello everyone! Congrats to those with BFP's! :) Since I last posted here a year ago I have had another early embryo loss with ivf. Fertility doctor said next step is donor egg which isn't covered so we are trying to get the money for early next year. For now we are ttcing and hoping for a miracle. I am on cycle day 27 (12dpo). I had some pink spotting at 10 dpo which hasn't happened to me since I had a fibroid which was removed Dec 2010). Think it's too late for IB?

Not at all, 9-11 DPO is the perfect time for IB! Best of luck to you! I wasn't here a year ago, my journey started in May of this year. I am gearing up for my second IVF cycle, it officially starts Monday :yipee: Have you thought about testing? If you had the IB at 10dpo and are now 12dpo, it is possible that you have enough HCG in your system for a HPT, or you could wait another 24-48 hours. Do you feel like AF is coming? Any other symptoms? How did you lose your embryo if you don't mind me asking. I'm 40 and have had 1 failed IVF, and have been trying to figure out what the reasons were and whether there are things we need to be doing differently. :dust:

Thank you guys! I'm hopeful for sure. My chart this month vs last month are night and day so maybe!!! I did test today 11dpo bfn BUT this is crazy...so confession...I've maybe gotten into a bad habit of breaking apart the FRER's:wacko:...Well, the one that I broke apart yesterday, I swear I saw a faint line but ya know how you make yourself crazy with these things??? I mean one sceond I see a line, the next I don't. So anyway, I looked at it this am and there is definitely pink in the positive line. But of course I can't trust it b/c a) I broke it apart and b) it's 24 hours later. But I will say, I have never gotten a false pos with a FRER before. Other brands, yes BUT never with a FRER. I will keep on testing!!!

Fingers crossed, BabyDust!

Ali: sorry you have to work on Turkey Day. Wait, aren't you Canadian?

AFM, I'm feeling very woozy today. And hungry. I ate a giant bagel and felt starving after. So, I'm eating a second one! FRER this morning was same darkness as yesterday. I'm keeping the faith.

My birthday is Jan 3rd! She MUST be perfect:)

Ali- Wow, I am glad the acupuncture worked out for you and helped alleviate some of that stress. Nuts for it all rushing back on you though like a tidal wave :nope: Work can be like that. Lol, I think everybody has an "idiot Bill" at work  I am glad you are getting some positive attention at work, I think your boss must really value you there  Good place to be :winkwink: Acupuncture feels like mosquitoes biting? NUTS! Coming from Alaska I have had my share  lol!

Babydust- yay for triphasic! Have you tested today at all? Hmm...nice high temp for 11DPO! Re:breaking apart FRER's. We all do that hon  lol! You'd be odd if you didn't :haha:  Annnnd can we see a pic?.....

JandK- :hi:

BabyWhisperer- how are ya? :hugs:

TwoToGo-

Never-Give-Up- good to hear from you! Sorry for the early embryo loss...I am excited for your future plan though, fx'd! Do you have a chart with FF? What have you discussed with your FS so far? And I agree with Ali- defo not too early for IB!

FirstTry- I eat bagels too, dh tells me they are a better carb but  Maybe try eating some peanut butter with it that usually helps me extend through the day  First try - so excited for your :bfp: girl! :hugs:

Phil :bunny:

Jess- :saywhat: where are you?.....:sad1:

AFM- Speaking of having your boss value you more, I have set a new goal in place for myself. I have begun the strenuous endeavor of learning Farsi...I have started with some of the basic adjectives, adverbs, articles, gender (feminine, masculine...) etc. I figure my workplace value will go up at least a teeny bit  maybe? I am going to look for a more advanced and detailed language course where I can get used to the rifts...languages are so complex but once you get an "ear" for how they sound it's not too bad. Dh speaks 5 languages :growlmad: naturally. Men have to be so good at everything :grr: lol! He speaks French, Italian, Spanish, English (of course), and some German. Now he is studying Japanese  I gotta catch up! :haha:
I am currently planning my Thanksgiving dinner. As our kids are still small I try to cook small. Traditional small turkey, a ham for dh (he's not a big turkey fan...) rolls, mashed potatoes and gravy and I think a fruit salad is it...Otherwise we throw a ton of food away :nope:

What are all your plans for the holiday ladies?

AFM again...lol! Baby update . Hm. She has been a nightowl lately :growlmad: Keeping me up about 2-3 hours past when everyone else goes to sleep  lol! We just buddy around until she is exhausted then we crash. Plus she is eating constantly, my milk is changing, she has almost outgrown her newborn clothes! :saywhat: Yay! She is growing like a pro :cloud9: Problem is she is peeing like crazy too, when she does go she fills up about 3 diapers  lol, but GGod has seriously blessed us with free diapers for a year from our local hospital  Not sure if that goes a full year or just like 8-10 cases but a HUGE financial savings and blessing! :flower: Helps a lot. Anyways, she is much more alert and even someowhat playful- she is fascinated with her older sisters and loves to watch them play and shout and generally be nuisances :growlmad: :haha: I am getting set for "sister pics" here soon, I bought T a new pink princess dress, Kat has a purple one and a bright yellow to choose from, and I think I'll put Aeryn in a blue one with these cute little hair bows I bought her today :winkwink: My little princesses :)

alicatt: I am thinking of testing tomorrow since Af is due Friday. No symptoms except sore breasts. My hubby has poor sperm morphology and the FS thinks my eggs are poor quality because I am 41. I also had a miscarriage at 9 weeks March 2010, that;s when we decided to see a fertility specialist. All embies both cycles were poor quality when transferred. The first time only 2 out of 5 fertilized were transferred and second cycle only 1 out of 6 were transferred. I never got a positive beta. You have excellent quality blasts alicat! You will do great with your upcoming ivf!Get lots of rest on Thanksgiving :) Good luck!

Grey Eyes : CONGRATS on your baby girl!! FS wants us to try donor egg and if it doesnt work then they will know it is hubby's sperm so will have to use both donor egg and sperm.

Thanks ladies for the the encouraging words :)

First try:congrats on your BFP! .

Congrats on 34 weeks Philomena !! woohoo!!

I just realized I posted "is it too early for IB?" but I meant too late... I'm sure you all knew what I meant!

Yup! we knew what you meant! Sometimes the eggy floats around for abit before attaching.... so I don't think it was too late.... fingers crossed!!

AFM-

I have been working on organizing my master bedroom.... clothes.... closet.... random various papers.... I have too much junk!! I had a pile of clothes to go through on my bed.... and to give you an idea.... it's a king size bed full of clothes with just enough room clear for me to sleep on one side!! Sheesh!! I'm sure I've been holding onto clothes from University, which are neither fit for man nor beast anymore!!!
So I'm well on my way to getting things cleared off.... I'm motivated to do it because I want to flip my futon mattress and put a new memory foam topper on it tonight.... I haven't been sleeping well, and I think I need to change up the mattress for a better night's sleep....

We have a snowfall warning here in Calgary right now and I'm supposed to meet a friend for a pedicure and lunch tomorrow! I have snow tires, so I'm ok to keep going, but I think she wants to reschedule.... we'll see.... I really, really need a pedicure and the place she takes me is uber-inexpensive but good and clean.... they even do the little extra design on the big toe.... I don't like going without her because all the girls there know her, and I'm almost certain the service we get is that much better because of it!!

How is everyone else doing??

phil.

Phil- ah, I remember those days :haha: Remember how crazy I was cleaning my house, painting everything, clearing the garage...Phew, I am so glad to be done with that! Now just the challenge of maintaining it all 8-[ lol! Don't overwork yourself [-X

We are busy for the holiday. Traveling to my moms house tomorrow for Thanksgiving then coming back Friday night to meet the sperm donor for an insemination..Saturday going to my partners parents for the night then back home Sunday to get ready for a new work week....makes me tired just typing it. But I love spending time with family at the holidays...

First try:congrats on your BFP! .

NeverGiveUp.. have you tried ICSI? Assisted hatching? There are a lot of supplements that I have heard improve your egg quality. I'm taking these now: 7keto DHEA, Melatonin, Maca Root, CoQ10, Royal Jelly, reservatrol and baby aspirin, along with omega 3 and a pre-natal vitamin. You should see the lineup of bottles with each item, it is insane. These things improve your egg quality. Also acupuncture, I am trying it this month as well. I have also gone gluten free.

I am currently using a sperm donor (since I'm single and trying this alone). So I know that a sperm donor doesn't always give you the best results either. We did ICSI my past cycle. I had 15 eggs retrieved, 12 mature, 7 fertilized, and 5 made it to day 3 (all perfect 0-10% fragmentation and 7-8 cell), so they pushed it to do a day 5 transfer, and transferred what my Dr said were 2 perfect blastocysts, and I got a BFN  He stated that the egg carries the embryo from day 1-3 and then the sperm carries it from day 3-5. He was concerned that only 2 of the 5 embryos made it to day 5 after being perfect at day 3, and stated that it was the sperm's fault.
I have only researched the supplements that women can take to improve egg quality, but I'm sure there are other women that can recommend supplements that men can take in order to improve their sperm quality.
I'm not sure if you tried these things during your previous IVF cycles, but it might be worthwhile thinking about them.
IVF is a scary and stressful procedure, and I know how hard it is. If you are not doing an IVF cycle these things can help you improve your egg quality without IVF too! Maybe you are carrying your miracle baby right now and just don't know it!!!
