Welcome to 'Trying To Conceive Over 35'

AFM-

I have been working on organizing my master bedroom.... clothes.... closet.... random various papers.... I have too much junk!! I had a pile of clothes to go through on my bed.... and to give you an idea.... it's a king size bed full of clothes with just enough room clear for me to sleep on one side!! Sheesh!! I'm sure I've been holding onto clothes from University, which are neither fit for man nor beast anymore!!!
So I'm well on my way to getting things cleared off.... I'm motivated to do it because I want to flip my futon mattress and put a new memory foam topper on it tonight.... I haven't been sleeping well, and I think I need to change up the mattress for a better night's sleep....

We have a snowfall warning here in Calgary right now and I'm supposed to meet a friend for a pedicure and lunch tomorrow! I have snow tires, so I'm ok to keep going, but I think she wants to reschedule.... we'll see.... I really, really need a pedicure and the place she takes me is uber-inexpensive but good and clean.... they even do the little extra design on the big toe.... I don't like going without her because all the girls there know her, and I'm almost certain the service we get is that much better because of it!!

How is everyone else doing??

phil.

I have the exact same pile but it is on the chaise lounge at the end of my bed. That is one of my chores this weekend. Tackle the rest of my bedroom and de-clutter, then take it all to goodwill. I have done the closets, and now I just have to do my drawers (2 sets). Then put all the clothes I want to keep where they need to be! It must be a nesting instinct, and I must just have it early? IDK.
Isn't getting your toes done the most glorious experience? I had a place I loved to go to. For $20 I'd get my nails trimmed, ingrown toe dealt with, a massage chair to melt into, and if I wanted, a lip and brow wax for an additional $14, so for $34 + tip I walked out of there a new woman. I was going every 2-3 week. Unfortunately while I was in Canada this summer the salon was sold and the new management sucks, and all the good people have left  It was also something my Mom and I would do together when she would come down to see me. We'd go and get pampered. She loved it because the hoity toity place up where she lives charges $40 for a pedicure, and $14 for a lip wax, so we almost got 2 for 1 prices at my place and we had fun doing it. I must say when I told my Mom the place was not what it was like last year, she was like.. ahhhh what are we going to do now? I said to leave it with me, and I'd find a new place. Still, I miss my bi-weekly pedicures.

Ali- Wow, I am glad the acupuncture worked out for you and helped alleviate some of that stress. Nuts for it all rushing back on you though like a tidal wave :nope: Work can be like that. Lol, I think everybody has an "idiot Bill" at work  I am glad you are getting some positive attention at work, I think your boss must really value you there  Good place to be :winkwink: Acupuncture feels like mosquitoes biting? NUTS! Coming from Alaska I have had my share  lol!

Babydust- yay for triphasic! Have you tested today at all? Hmm...nice high temp for 11DPO! Re:breaking apart FRER's. We all do that hon  lol! You'd be odd if you didn't :haha:  Annnnd can we see a pic?.....

JandK- :hi:

BabyWhisperer- how are ya? :hugs:

TwoToGo-

Never-Give-Up- good to hear from you! Sorry for the early embryo loss...I am excited for your future plan though, fx'd! Do you have a chart with FF? What have you discussed with your FS so far? And I agree with Ali- defo not too early for IB!

FirstTry- I eat bagels too, dh tells me they are a better carb but  Maybe try eating some peanut butter with it that usually helps me extend through the day  First try - so excited for your :bfp: girl! :hugs:

Phil :bunny:

Jess- :saywhat: where are you?.....:sad1:

AFM- Speaking of having your boss value you more, I have set a new goal in place for myself. I have begun the strenuous endeavor of learning Farsi...I have started with some of the basic adjectives, adverbs, articles, gender (feminine, masculine...) etc. I figure my workplace value will go up at least a teeny bit  maybe? I am going to look for a more advanced and detailed language course where I can get used to the rifts...languages are so complex but once you get an "ear" for how they sound it's not too bad. Dh speaks 5 languages :growlmad: naturally. Men have to be so good at everything :grr: lol! He speaks French, Italian, Spanish, English (of course), and some German. Now he is studying Japanese  I gotta catch up! :haha:
I am currently planning my Thanksgiving dinner. As our kids are still small I try to cook small. Traditional small turkey, a ham for dh (he's not a big turkey fan...) rolls, mashed potatoes and gravy and I think a fruit salad is it...Otherwise we throw a ton of food away :nope:

What are all your plans for the holiday ladies?

Farsi?! Where on earth do you work?

No no.....It's not where I work. It's where I'm going to work :haha: lol! And for whom ...

AFM - OMG what a freaking insane week I have had. Why do I even try to be normal when my life is just so over the top right now?:wacko::wacko:

I have majorly good news:

1) My stepfather's nodule turned out to be a shadow on his x-ray. They actually think it was his nipple that caused the shadow to look like a nodule  I started laughing out loud when my Mom called. What moron of a radiologist made that mistake? OMG, too funny. Needless to say my whole family has been holding its breath since Saturday when that idiot radiologist said there was a nodule in his lung. Well the CAT scan showed NADA. So whew! My Mom and stepfather are probably still out celebrating  :headspin:

2) I had my culposcopy today. The test to determine if I have cervical cancer. So the Dr says. Your first PAP came back negative for HPV and negative for any strange cells, but we didn't get any cells from inside your cervix. So they did anotehr PAP, it too came back negative for HPV but showed funny cells. However this PAP was done just days after my FS dilated my cervix (and this is the are he was trying to get cells from). So he puts me in this funky chair, and squirt a vinegar like substance up there that is supposed to show the bad cells, and he's like I don't see any bad cells. I'm going to take a biopsy just to be sure, but he said, I'd be highly surprised if this came back positive for anything. So another  :happydance:

3) The week is over (well I'm on call tomorrow, but I highly doubt it will be a busy day). I plan on relaxing, making a roasted vegetable casserole, and going to friends for Thanksgiving. :yipee:

I'm closing in on stimulation, it starts Monday. I even emailed my boss about the time I would need off for the tests and the ER and ET. Maybe I'm crazy but I asked him to come up with some documentation that needs to be written. Last time I was on bed rest after the ET I went a little stir crazy. I wanted something to do! So I figure I can put the laptop on a breakfast tray in bed and write a little documentation while I'm lying there on bed rest. It is totally as my leisure, and stress free. So he said, that would be great, and we're going to work out a list of things he wants documentation on. That makes me feel better. I felt like I wasted 2 days in bed last cycle and while I understand that I shouldn't be moving around alot, that doesn't mean I can't keep my brain active!!!! Writing documentation is not stressful, and that is the other thing, I figure if I'm doing something that is occupying my mind it is better than just lying there over-analyzing every twinge! So if I haven't said it before, I have the best boss in the world. He was like fine, just let me know when you know what days you need to be 'off'.
Seriously the best boss ever.

BabyDust.. what is the word?

BabyWhisperer.. how are you feeling? What are your plans for Thanksgiving?

Jess.. so excited for you and your graduation!!! :flower: Really hoping that since that stress is behind you that you can focus on operation baby, and next month is your month!!! :dust:

Coy.. Farsi? Really? Why? Why not learn Mandarin? That is a language that our next generation will likely need to know. If I had the time I would learn it too. I was fluent in French, and it would come back if I were somehow thrown into a situation where I needed it. From that by extension of the romance languages, I can pick out words in Italian and Spanish. I took Latin in high school and was pretty good at that too, which helps me with my Italian and Spanish. I spent time in my late teens in Europe and picked up a little German and Austrian, but just enough to ask stupid questions and order off a menu. I commend you for trying to learn a new language, it is an exciting endeavor!! Now get that baby of yours on a schedule where you get sleep! :haha: Or at least try!

Everyone else.. Huge  and Happy Thanksgiving to those that are in the US!

Wow, Ali, Awesome news all the way around! That is so relieving about your step-dad...and just a bit comical concerning the nipple :haha: What a huge relief for you all :hugs: And wow, stimming starts Monday? :saywhat: When did time fly away? lol! That's awesome, I am getting excited! Eek! Pretty soon - ER and ET and BFP! :baby: :hugs:

Farsi...this is just something I thought to improve my qualifications for certain, eh, governmental jobs....(long story)..My uncle is an FBI agent and encourages this type of thing if you want a shoe in to a good position...I mean, I don't mind fetching coffee all day, just would rather it be my own  I think Mandarin is also an excellent choice  Re: scheduling...:sad1: That's a toughy! I am exhausted at this point. every night after dh goes to bed I get the girls to bed and it's this up and down process speckled with arguments and jokes and general nonsense. For example I tell the dd's to get their drinking water, their teddy bears, get their bed made and get in it. Then I will tell a story. It takes me an hour and a half to get their bed made. Once T gets the bed made Kat goes and tears it up - just to be mean :growlmad: lol! So I go re-do it. Then they get in bed, lights out, and I start to tell a story when I hear a tiny voice "I need a drink of water..." which, for some reason, despite my encouragement to the contrary- neither of them brought their water. So they both bound out of bed to go get drinks. Once they are all settled "I gotta go pee mama..." *sigh* lol! Then we all get settled again, by this time Aeryn is awake and hungry and I have to nurse her but Kat demands I hug her while she is falling asleep, which I can' do both  I tried lol! Then we say our prayers and they start to drift and I hear T whisper furiously "get your FEET off of me!!" and they start to fight. OMG, every night :haha:  Like clockwork. well, dh and I decided to move the clockwork up- so it's an hour earlier tonight  I feel bad for getting upset with them but I can't seem to get them to understand they can't expect me to do every little thing for them. Dh helps me a lot lately- thank God! :haha:

On a positive note I am proud of me :smug: lol! My turkey is all prepped and in the fridge. All I have to do in the morning is wake up, slide it in the oven, and sip coffee while watching the Macey's parade through hopefully still bleary eyes :haha: lol!

Awesome! I just have to make roasted vegetables, bring the croissants (store bought) and wine, if I keep drinking :wine: tonight, there might not be much left to bring! I've had 3 glasses. :haha:

Night ladies.. time for me to do my lupron shot and take the doggies out for their last potty break before bed. Then take the benadryl and

Happy Thanksgiving ladies!!! tested...still bfn. But chart still outrageous! Temp is rising!! Turkey is in the oven and for the first time ever I have everything done! Just some mild cleaning, set the table and put the food in the oven. SO nice to just relax on Thanksgiving!

Will write more later...

Enjoy your day!!!!

We are busy for the holiday. Traveling to my moms house tomorrow for Thanksgiving then coming back Friday night to meet the sperm donor for an insemination..Saturday going to my partners parents for the night then back home Sunday to get ready for a new work week....makes me tired just typing it. But I love spending time with family at the holidays...

Good luck this month with your insemination, and happy Thanksgiving! Maybe the holidays will bring us all our miracle babies!

Well said. Just popping in to say Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours! I am very thankful for many things, and one of them is you lovely ladies!! Love you!!

Happy Thanksgiving to all my American BnB ladies!! enjoy your turkey day!!

Happy thanksgiving everybody!

I'm sorry for the selfish post but I am shattered after today and need to go . But I did say I would update you all. I'll catch up with everybody tomorrow as I'll be at home

I'll try and keep this brief . Hysteroscopy day!!

After a confused debate between doctors and the anaesthetist I got the procedure done under local. I had called at the beginning of the week to check as I wasnt given any nil by mouth instructions and I was told I was getting it done via a local. So I duly arrived this morning and at every part of the pre-assessment the general was discussed, leading me to relay my telephone instructions and that I had drank a glass of orange juice 2 hours earlier! :growlmad:

The surgeon said she rarely did the procedure under local but if I was willing we could give it a go, and if it became too painful they would stop and rearrange a date :growlmad:. So yeah that did start to get me nervous lol. But it turned out that I couldnt stop swooning at the anaesthetist as he was pretty hot and had one of those take me to bed voices :haha:, and he agreed to give me a concoction, a painkiller prop something and then a mild sedative if need be.

Well it turned out it for me it was a piece of **** to cope with (I appreciate everybody is different so I hope I dont offend anybody saying that). It was over in like 10 minutes and I actually said to the surgeon is that it? :haha::winkwink:. The anaesthetist (swoon) only had to give me one shot of the painkiller at the start.

It was well cool, I got to see inside my uterus on the tv screen and the surgeon explained everything. There was like this white floaty stuff which she said is common, and I really did not realise your uterus is so small, how daft is that? Like it was only the size of perhaps an orange.

So there is good and perhaps not so good news so as usual I'm in that brain tossing stage trying to figure things out. Overall the womb looks normal but she did find and show me what looks like a partial uterine septum. She said it would probably need more investigation to see exactly what size it is exactly and if my RMC will want to take action on it. They can resect it but she said she didnt know if my RMC would want to do this. I also googled it and the jury is out whether resecting partial ones is of any benefit or not .

I did ask, as I have read before about possible cause of RMCs :winkwink:, if it could affect my pregnancies and she played it safe and said maybe, maybe not. I know septums can be a cause if the egg implants on it and not the uterine wall because the septum tissue doesnt receive the same blood supply etc and this is the reason you end up miscarrying. I just need to explore further such as when miscarrying can occur with septums.

Does anybody have any experience with them? And what treatment did you have?

So I now have to wait for my follow up appointment with my RMC, probably another 6-8 weeks, and then discuss the results. If he wants to do a MRI and then decides to operate on it I could be WTT for another 3+ months so I could be looking at another break of about 5-6 months . I'm trying to be positive but of course everything is going through my head, like what if he doesnt think it is significant enough to resect but it is my cause? Or what if I do have to wait that long (I know I'll have to but you all know this is a bitter pill to swallow sometimes). Or could it be a combination of the septum and sticky blood when pregnant?

Ho hum.......

I'd be interested to hear if anybody has had a similar experience.

xoxo

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Alicat Thank-you so much for sharing your journey. Yes we did ICSI and assisted hatching both times. I have been doing weekly acupuncture for over a year. During ivf cycle I went several times during ivf week. I take primrose oil, CoQ10 and baby aspirin, pre-natal and DHA. Acupuncturist recommended chinese herbs which I have been taking for a year 1/2 women's treasure (Ba Zhen Wan) Lots of little pills lol. Hubbyt was not consistent taking his. I am gluten free because I have celiac disease. At first Shady grove said it was the sperm's fault so I have my hubby taking Pycnogenol, (which improves sperm morphology) fertilaid, CoQ10, Omega 3 and vit C. he also does acupuncture. Interesting what your FS told you. They told me after the 2 unsuccessful cycles that it must be my eggs since the embryos started dying off at day 3. Out of 6 that fertilized only 1 was left which was worse because on first cycle where there were 3.

First thing this morning I did an ept but got a BFN ...but no spotting since Monday and no sign that Af is showing tomorrow ( no temp drop, no headache , burning in the uterus etc) If temp drops to 97.6 tomorrow then I know it's over for this month though.

The cure for feeling stressed about clutter is to sit down and watch two episodes of Hoarders on A&E. It makes you feel like you are the most organized, mentally healthy person alive.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! I hope you all have a wonderful day with friends and family, enjoying the food and company with relatively little stress. I know that is the impossible dream when it comes to family, but my fingers are crossed for you! You are a great group of ladies and deserve a very pleasant day.

I went to the doctor yesterday. She was an absolutely wonderful woman. If I had written out a script of what I wanted her to say, it would have been exactly what she said. She prescribed Clomid for me as she felt the ovulation predictor kits are accurate enough to act on. I didn't have any tests, just my annual exam (which was a year overdue for the first time in my adult life. I have always stayed on top of my reproductive health, which I am very grateful for now.) She is trying me on 50 mg for two months, and then will increase the dose if I have not had results. I feel a tremendous sense of relief to be addressing the issue.

My best to all!

AFM- okay, turkey is done- I even carved it and set it out. Fruit salad is done and chilling. Gravy is almost done ....Ham is roasting in the oven...

Babydust- you are right- your chart is outrageous! lol!!
Ali- I searched for the turkey icon as well :sad1: :haha:

Wow Grey Eyes you have a month old and still found the time to cook both turkey and ham? Well done!! I usually do just one or the other lol..this year was ham. I do several side dishes.

I just got home from a really fun and friendly stress free holiday dinner. The turkey was fried and was really yummy. All I had to bring was a bottle of wine, some roasted vegetables and the croissants. Pretty simple! It was a good meal, and I managed to stick to my GF diet too! My friends have an autistic son and so they feed him GF. So there were GF biscuits, stuffing, an apple pie and a pecan pie too! Plus they had non GF stuff for the gluten eaters. Oh and Jan even made a few GF lasagne rollups! It was awesome. I'm stuffed. I have my feet up with a glass of wine and am going to watch some TV with my doggies.
I am very thankful for a relaxed day with friends today. YAY!

Major  to Coy for cooking a full on thanksgiving meal for her family!!! Ham and turkey? I bet it was yummy too!

Hey ladies! Had an awesome Thanksgiving! I have to say that this is the first year that everything came out perfect! Usually I end up burning something or forgetting a key ingredient in the chaos of preparation:haha: My kids are in bed and I'm contemplating a glass of wine. I feel outrageously bloated today and I did have a very irritable moment today...not sure if it's hormonal or the fact that my husband decided to go take a nap while I was feverishly trying to get everything ready???:growlmad: But he quickly stepped it up and ended up being a great help. So right now, if it weren't for the fact that my chart looks so great, I would think that I'm getting AF. I am always cranky and bloated before AF.

Might go grab a plate of leftovers...:)

Babydust- Lol @ your dh taking a nap! Sounds like mine- mine took a nap too :haha: But that's okay. I planned ahead! I had the turkey seasoned and set in its pan in the fridge- just had to stick it in the oven this morning and the ham too....All I had to do was side dishes, etc. Plus I wash everything as I am using it to keep my kitchen clean so no dishes to do after dinner :happydance:  lol!

It has been a great Thanksgiving here...Just the 5 of us, and sooOOoo much better than last year. I mc'd just a week or so before thanksgiving last year so as very down, but this year got to hold my little Aeryn all through dinner :cloud9: Definately am Thankful. :hugs: Then the dd's went to their room to watch a cartioon and dh and I brewed some black coffee and watched the kicka$$ new movie Expendables 2 - definately one I want to buy  Dh and I have similar taste in movies (um, shoot'em'up'bang movies ) so it was a lot of fun :)

Angel- I have no experience with septums but I am going to research this more as you have me curious now! definatley need more info! :hugs:

Ali- yes, enjoy that :wine: as when you get your :bfp: in a few weeks (and you will :winkwink:) this'll be the last of the wine until, well, October or November of next year- unless you plan to breastfeed? Then even longer :hugs:

Jess- happy thanksgiving! :hugs:

Babywhisperer- how are you lady? Happy Thanksgiving!!! Hope you had a beautiful non-stressful day :hugs:

TwoToGo, Terri, Alin, Phil, JandK, - All-Ya'll :haha: Love you!! :hugs:
