Welcome to 'Trying To Conceive Over 35'

Chantal- love the pic! lol, sounds like the toddler had a blast! Kids make things seem so fun, even mundane things can be fun :laugh2: No, I don't think you can "shake anything up" at this point? Did I miss something? Did you have FET? Or IVF or something? Aaargh! I must have missed a post! :growlmad: Cause if you did you really shouldn't think that you are NOT preggo...very well could be :winkwink: In which case I am extremely excited!!!!

Ali- AHA! So your NK cells have already been lowered? I bet that's why you got sick, hm? Nuts, but def worth it if it means getting your bfp! Aren't we women crazy? We'll suffer anything for our babies! :haha::thumbup:

No Coy you didn't miss anything. No IVF, our embryos don't like to fertilize outside of the body. I only mentioned ivf because since the 2 ivfs, Dh is always paranoid in the 2ww and thinks :sex: will shake the uterus and possible embryo and keep it from implanting. I told him implantation is usually done by 12 dpo but he is not convinced. It would be a one in a million chance if I was pregnant (according to the FS). Acupuncturist gave me a ray of hope when he said there is always a chance of a good egg popping :winkwink:

I don't know if they are lower or not. Possibly? Since I got sick, but I haven't had any treatment for it yet. I won't until about 2 weeks before the real FET.

OK, so my body is cracking up, I feel like a truck ran over me, I'm rickety again. I just took some ibuprofen but it is difficult to sit up due to the aches in my back. It is only 3:40, I need to make it until 5, and then I have to run an errand. Think I can make it? Its literally driving to the UPS store and dumping a package.

Twiggers - I understand, and if you think its helping you to use the OPKs then by all means do it. I just see how stressed out you were getting trying to figure things out, and that is not good for TTC'ing. Hence my suggestion to just wait it out a few months. Also, the 4 days of OPKs could mean you didn't ovulate at all. Certain syndromes, and women just coming off BCP often have difficulty ovulating and this is a sign of an anovulatory cycles. The LH should only surge for 24-48 hours, and then it should drop, a positive OPK for more than 2 days tends to lend itself to a body that is trying to ovulate, but can't. It doesn't mean you will always been like this, but your body is having trouble getting back to ovulating after being on BCP. It is normal, and again the reason why if I were you I would just relax and chart out your cycles but not use them for TTCing until you've had 2-3 cycles that were the same length, then you'll know that your body is back to normal, and at that point, you'll have something to use to tell you exactly when you are ovulating. So for now, just :sex: when you want, and enjoy it with your DH. Once you get into :sex: on demand, it can get very tedious and not nearly as fun! :dust:

Poor Ali is sick again according to her FB site :sad2: Stupid flu!!:growlmad:

I went to see my regular Dr and I have a sinus infection and the stomach flu! :argh: I in bed, resting and will be for today and possibly tomorrow.
I am still on the provera although I think I puked it up last night and I couldn't take it this morning either. I think my stomach is a little better now. I have monster chipmunk cheeks though, barely any definition between my neck and cheek! EEK! So I'm on antibiotics and zofran.

Does this mean your NK cells have disappeared? Hope you feel much better soon Ali!!

I was wondering about the NK's too...

I was wondering too! I don't think I ever got over the flu I had 2 weeks ago and that led to the sinus infection. The stomach bug is probably because I was already fighting the sinus infection. I'm not going to pay another $600 for the NK test again, we'll just do the treatment when I do my FET.

Samsfan- NK cells are a kind of white blood cell that fights disease, like flu and cancer. However they also attack embryos as they think they are foreign. After repeated implantation failure my FS recommended I get tested for elevated NK cells, and sure enough they were elevated. But the theory is that if you have elevated NK cells then you have a super immune system and can fight off the flu! Well I'm not doing such a great job of that. ARGH.. hurry up AF!

BabyWhisperer! Good to hear from you! Missed you too! Did you have fun in Colorado? I miss that state. Lived there for 7 years!

Vail was amazing, got almost 3ft of snow while we were there. Hubby was happy. How are you feeling?

How is everyone else? Sorry been MIA, getting up at 5am and getting home either after 6 or 7 is a long day. As for me, I am 7dpo, feeling PMS symptoms like a beast. I have my 2nd opinion with Dr Spandorfer @ Cornell on Tuesday. I'm sure he'll send me for more blood tests. So instead of being stressed, we have been timing BD pretty well and focusing on work and vacation. The 8 days away was much needed. Ali, I love CO and want to move to Denver...but I'm afraid I'd miss the ocean too much. Then again it's more affordable to live there right? Hope I can catch up soon. :hugs:

I am sooooo sleepy today. BF and I had a long night in the emergency room.

I have got to be the most clumsy person I know! I was slicing some zucchini for dinner on my vegetable slicer and decided NOT to use the grip that came with the slicer to protect your hands and yep...you guessed it. Sliced a deep gash in my index finger on my right hand. Only 4 stitches, but it sure did (and still does) hurt! Here are some gruesome before and after pics!

Thanks Ali! I completely understand what you are saying.....spontaneous BD just isn't there though. With Dhs problems he just doesn't feel the urge because of possible disappointment.

It may be moot....I was just feeling around my cervix and came up with some reddish/brown stuff. So maybe AF is really here. Will check the tampon in a few hours.

AWE.. no fun. :af: I wish I could steal it from you!!! :haha: Isn't it terrible how some women want AF to show (like me) and it won't , and others don't want it to show, like you, but yet there it is. So unfair!

Well if it is here, then that means your cycle isn't too far off. If your DH is having issues, then I would definitely get him in to see the urologist. Only having :sex: one time a month is not conducive to getting pregnant. I mean it is possible, but not probable. Your other option is to see a FS, and look into IUIs. They are relatively inexpensive, and they polish the :spermy: so only the best are inserted into your uterus. It saves them the step of swimming up there, and the FS ensures that they are deposited at the correct time. So that might be an option. An IUI without meds is about $400/mo, with meds it is closer to $1000/mo. Phil used clomid and she was successful her first time! Plus she is 40. So that could be an option if you don't have any luck in the first couple of months.

OUCH! That looks really painful. Not sure what emoticons to use. :nope: Just feel better!

Glad you had a wonderful time in Vail. I have so many awesome friends in Denver, that I would love to move back there too. I think it is a distinct possibility in my future. I will stay in FL for the next 5-7 years, but I could see moving back there at that time. The cost of living has got to be better in Denver than NYC (and surrounding suburbs)! Plus it is an outdoorsy place to live, and while Florida is too, it is totally different. Glad you got to relax and recharge, that is necessary! Especially when TTCing! Looking forward to hearing about your consult with your new FS, and I'm glad you haven't been stressing about TTC! I was trying to explain to Twiggers that it is not fun when TTCing becomes too stressful, it puts a strain on marriages, :sex: and well everything. I don't even have a partner, and I find it incredibly stressful, plus the meds make me completely insane. So I'm happy to hear you guys have just been enjoying it :) Glad you are back though, we missed you!

Jess- wow, what a tuffy you are! Those stitches are impressive girl! I've been there! Ouches.....next time use the handle...Hm, it'll probably be numb for a while until those nerves have a chance to heal- don't mess it too much with weights for the next few weeks, give that tip time to heal! I whacked mine with an axe once- right across the index and in half. Crazy! Keep in touch, let us know how you are doing !!

Sorry Jess... I almost hurled when I saw the photograph. Hope you feel better

Ali- Sounds like you need lots of rest. I have to say, you are a wealth of information.

Chantal-- I know you are trying not to get your hopes up..but I like how your chart is looking. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for your this month.

I'm still here... FS ordering my drugs and I'm trying to figure out FF.
I went back to work today and I dove right in once again...busy busy busy.

I am 36 and trying to conceive my third child. It's really nice to have a support group such as this. I know in the U.S. they start testing for things like down syndrome over 35. My kids are 3 years apart and I had very healthy pregnancies with each, so I am optimistic this time around too. I cannot believe so many people out there even think 30 is too old to start a family!

Happy Valentines day!!

OMG! FAINT:bfp:!!

I got up at 4:30 am bursting to pee and tested with a early result Answer hpt. The control line came up really fast. As I was expecting..one line. So I threw away the pee in the cup and washed my hands. I know I am supposed to wait 3 mins and it was about 2 mins later I was going to throw out the test and I saw a second faint line! With hands shaking I took a pic but I can't see anything in the pic. I wish I hadn't thrown away the fmu so I could test again.:dohh:

We leave on Monday for Barbados at 3 am so can't even get a blood pregnancy test before we leave. :(
Do I tell dh tonight? Was going to bake valentines cupcakes today. Would be so nice if I could stick a note in one that says "we're pregnant!" But what if hpt is negative tomorrow? I don't want him to be disappointed. My breasts hurt, but they always do until :af: Only thing different is that nips hurt too. aargh! I wish I hadn't thrown away the FMU! I haven't put the positive test in my FF...so scared I will jinx it....

Wow Jess! So sorry you have a nasty gash on your poor finger :( I had stitches in my hand 2 years ago. I know how painful it is. So hard to get any sleep. I hope the doc gave you some painkillers :hugs:

welcome mother of 2! People are telling you 30 is too old to start a family? Well I am almost 42 and dh is 40 and we are so ready! lol Ignore them!

Samsfan and Coy you were both right about my chart :happydance:

Chantal. I knew it!!! I have a good feeling. Do it again. So excited. :cloud9:

I finally got my crosshairs and Coy you were right my baseline whatever you call it is 97.4. I was so excited to even see i got crosshairs. Well we bod all weekend and Tues. Florida trip was relaxing. So lets see...
