Welcome to 'Trying To Conceive Over 35'

I am so loving the new name choice. Sounds beautiful.

Hi ladies :hi:

Ali- where are you? We're all in suspense!!

Jess- I second Terry- when are you going to test again???

AFM- What do you ladies think of this new name choice? Dh and I are thinking we are pretty set on the name Aeryn Alexa...what do you all think? Thinking of not using Augusta as everyone would call her Auggie for short  lol! Aeryn (Air-Ee-n-) is both old Irish (peace) and Hebrew (mountain of strength) so we love the dual meanings :) and had spoken of looking for an old Hebrew name. And Alexa is Greek for defender :)

OOOHHHH.. me too! Forgot to say that earlier, there was so much to catch up on :)

Sounds like you have had quite a busy day. FYI about the menopur, don't know if you find that it stings. It is not as friendly of a shot as the gonal f. I just put ice on it after and it was good. They also put me on ganirelix and that needle hurt....almost felt dull or barbed at the end of it...so not fun. I talked to the nurse about it and she said plenty of people say the same things,...wondering if you had similar experience with menopur. I am really not looking forward to the progesterone in the backside muscle...nothing about that sounds fun for me. Your lining sounds great...come on follies grow. They adjusted mine a few times to see what worked so hang in there.

Yes, it did sting a little. Actually almost 3 hours later and it is still stinging a little bit. I'm happy about my lining, but I need those follies to wake up and GROW!! Hopefully the Menopur will help them do that. So I'm on 75 iu of Gonal F and 75 iu of Menopur for 5 more days, and we'll see what we have at that time. I hope I have 2-4 nice follies, but no more! I don't want to be Kate Goseling or Octomom! I wish I had my heating pad here, that seemed to help a few months ago.

How are you feeling? Are you starting to get better? How many cycles do you have to wait before they can implant the embryos?

Gncope- why do they have to inject your progesterone? My doc mentioned thaat supps are more effective but some prefer shots to the mess :nope: Supps ARE messy...when do you start the prog?

Ali- when do you have to head back to FL? Or are you thinking of moving permanent to Canada??? Sounds so nice there right now!

Re: name choice. Thanks ladies! Dh and I both liked Augusta but there were points to it we didn't like...e.g., Auggie, T didn't like it period :haha:....But so far I love Aeryn Alexa :) She's kicking me again btw...wonder if it has to do with the ice cream? I know it's late I should not eat it that late but MMMmmm-MM! :haha:

Hi ladies! :hi:

Terri- nuts for AF :growlmad: Darn it! What has your doc said about regulating into a shorter cycle length? Is there anything they can suggest? I would LOVE to learn how to dive! I burst my eardrums as a child (bled everywhere) and my mom was totally unconcerned so didn’t get any med help until dad noticed  so I have some inner ear issues. Great hearing, lol, but get dizzy and try to pass out if I bend my head backwards under water ….

Jess- yep, I went for the eggs. Stuffed ‘em up with vegetables (just the tomatoes and green onions). How did training go yesterday? What are you working on, e.g., focus muscle group, etc…Btw, I would use your initial temp of 97.45.

Alin- your bd timing is absolutely perfect! Got my fx’d for you this month 

Ali- where are you? We are all dieing to hear your news!!!

Phil- how are you today? Easing on the stress I hope and getting some time to relax!

AFM- Well, I was up most of the night again :growlmad: My little cuddle-bug  lol….Plus cramps in my hip muscles (Jess is there a good stretch for hip muscles? Right along the side of the hip and around down into glutes..), must be the spreading…Plus babes was kicking half the night. And I am not talking cute gentle nudges. I am talking aggressive mean kicking :growlmad: LOL! My Viking baby :cloud9: She has attitude already! We did a little work in the garage yesterday evening but picked a very bad time to start as the sun started searing through at bad angles  So gave up :haha: Will start again when it is cooler.

Hi Grey Eyes, thanks for asking after me- a friend had offered me a stay at their condo in Fernie, B.C. , a little while ago, so I decided it would be a good opportunity to get away for a few days. I brought my mom and daughter so it's just us girls!
It's been good to step out of the chaos.

My mom decided that for at least 2 out of the 4 days we are here that we won't even say dh's name!
It's been a good break.
I go for my anatomy scan next Friday but today was told by a psychic that it is a girl! I'm hopeful, but really just want HEALTHY!
Hope all the ladies are doing well.... Looks like lots of bfp's to watch for!

I saw a nutritionist just to make sure I'm getting enough of the right things and gaining an appropriate amount of weight. I was worried about gaining too much as I was overweight to start with, but after gaining 4.5 lbs in the first trimester, I'm now losing weight! I'm only 2 lbs up from pre pregnancy weight right now but feel like I'm eating tons!
The dietician/nutritionist looked over my food journal and said I need to change two things: 1- add protein to every snack and meal- can be some cheese or milk product if I don't want meat- nut butters are also a good source and 2- she suggested a tea latte from starbux as a snack chioice! Mmmmm I love my London Fogs!!

Babes is growing well and even though I can't feel movement all the time yet, I am getting good at figuring out where the baby actually is in the uterus! Fun stuff! Mostly Babes is liking the upper right side and I like it too 'cause it means I can feel her there!

Well, time for bed.... I hope everyone is doing fine.
Phil.

Hi ladies/mommies out there. I am new to this forum and I am happy that I come across this site.
I also trying to conceive at the age over 35. This is sometimes frustrating and stressful.
Just want to be connected to other women who are experiencing the same, just to let me feel, I am not alone on this and learn from other's experiences

:cloud9:

Hi divee,
Looks like we are in the same boat and found the same place. I'm 36 and finally starting to pursue answers about my fertility, so this is the right place for me :winkwink:

Hi :hi: Letsgo and Divee and welcome! We are a crazy bunch here, and have a few ladies who are currently pregnant, and several of us are still trying.

I'm 39 and after looking for Mr Right, and not finding him have decided to go this alone and am using donor sperm. I've had 2 IUIs with no success, and this month we have upped the ante and I'm doing injectibles. I should have my 3rd IUI next week.

How about you both? Are you doing things naturally or are you working with Fertility Specialists? Best of luck to you, wishing you some BFPs!

Phil, so glad you are having some girl time! I'm sure that it was a much needed break. I'm surprised that your dietitian suggested Starbucks, really? Well they said it was OK, so go for it! Can't wait to hear about your baby, and whether you are having a boy or a girl! Then we can get down and dirty about names, :haha:  Glad you are doing well!

Coy - I'm not sure when I'm heading back to FL, I can't leave until I've had my 2 IUIs! Since my follicles are really tiny, it might be later then we had initially suspected. I was supposed to leave sometime next weekend Aug 10-12, but my O day is Sunday the 12th (at least that is the day I have O'd the past 2 months). So.. if that is the case, I won't leave until either Monday or wait until the following Friday. Its like my ovaries are sensing that I don't want to leave! LOL! I was wishing I had my heating pad here, as it seemed to help my follicles grow grow grow 2 months ago.

hi everyone, just a quickie again.

Hubby is away, so I'm doing some moping around the house feeling sorry for myself, being reminded constantly by my AF that we weren't successful again, but give it a couple of days until she's gone and I'm sure my spirits will be on the up again.

I've seen 2 doctors now, who have both said that they can't do anything to shorted my cycles. The first one put on my notes that we started TTC in May, so it proves I shouldn't have been so flippin honest in the first place, you guys were so right! The only way to make my cycles more regular is to go on the birth control pill. yeah right, last time I was on that, when I came off, I didn't have a period for nearly a year. I swore to myself I would never go on that again, besides, what woman, that so desperately wants a child that is in their late 30s would go on the pill????

Jess, your temps are looking great, its a good sign that they've gone up again, I wonder if that dip was for implantation, if so, you won't get a bfp for another few days anyway. I'm keeping everything crossed for you, I'm really looking forward to you posting a pic of your :bfp:

Phil- Mmm Tea Latte? R U Serious? What exactly is a London Fog and I want one! :haha: Sounds wonderful :cloud9: Aside from the half cup of coffee I am allowing myself every day that’s about it except water. I have been trying to add proteins also and avoid heavy carbs. First doc told me I gained too fast now I am not gaining at all  But I have incorporated peanut butter as a breakfast food  lol and it seems to keep my glucose steady and loads of energy. Eggs for lunch or dinner and fruits throughout the day with veggies, etc. Milk is LOADED with protein as well, so glad you are eating the cheeses. I can’t believe you are already at your anatomy scan! :happydance: Time is flying :hugs: And kudos to you for taking some time “off” :)

Ali- getting excited for you! IUI next week, right??

Jess, where are you?

AFM- feel some better today even tho Kat woke me at least 3 times last night. But i did sleep, so that helps...gonna see what I can get done today, will update more later :)

Hey Coy! Super hot here, I've been lying under my fan and reading. I am heading out for cocktails shortly, but thought I would say hi :hi: Not sure how I feel today, I have been really tired, and my uterus is cramping pretty badly, as if I were getting my period. I'm only on CD8! I just looked at the side effects for Menopur and cramping is a side effect. I'm not sure I really want to go to this cocktail party, but I guess I should go for a while.

Hope you are having a good day, and glad you are feeling more rested

A London Fog is the most beautiful hot bevvy there is! It is exactly like a latte - steamed, frothy milk, but with an Earl Grey tea bag or two or dropped into it! I think they also add a touch of vanilla syrup, - it really is lovely! My nutritionist said it was ok because it's tea and because it's got so much milk.
Hope everyone is well today- I am knackered as we went on a hike through the rainforest in Mt. Fernie Provincial Park.... Gorgeous, and gave me a stellar workout!
More later, my lovelies,
Phil.

Hi ladies! :hi: You won’t believe what I found while sorting out the garage today! I found a huge suitcase stuffed absolutely to bursting with baby clothes! Newborn clothes, from preemie through 3-6 months! This is something that I packed up after Kat outgrew them and just forgot I had them…I have over 40 of those little side snap t-shirts, plus body suits, onsies, long sleeved shirts with mitts attached, the cutest little pant and top outfits for newborns, all in gorgeous greens, olives, pinks, blues, and tons of easy wash whites, and get this—and absolutely brand new unopened package of side snap t’s for 5-8 pounds! :cloud9: I am in heaven at the moment as dh and I were toughly trying to budget for those newborn items and the price has skyrocketed on them locally…. The only thing we can ascertain that we absolutely need to buy now is socks. Wow, huh?! I will still probably buy her something brand new to come home in - uniquely hers, you know? :cloud9:

WOOHOO! That is a total score! I bet you are so happy :) Do you have enough cold weather clothing for her? I guess that is why you need to get her some socks, :haha: I'm glad you found the suitcase!! I don't have any clothes at all for little babies. Well except for the onsies I bought for my doggies. I bought a few for when Zoe had her surgery, they were easier for her to wear instead of a cone. Just cover the wound with a onsie and she couldn't lick her incision. So WHEN I get pregnant, I will have to start from scratch. I think I'll hit the clearance racks at Walmart, Target and Kohls!! Course I have to get pregnant first! :haha:

I'm not liking the injectibles, I was totally feeling PMSy today. Barked at my Mom and just didn't want to do anything. It was over 90 today, and so humid. There is rain in the forecast for tonight/tomorrow, all I can say is hurry up so it cools off! Hopefully the Menopur is working, but not too well as I don't want to have 10 follicles! I might go down and get checked out on Tuessday, if not then definitely on Wednesday.

Wow, 10 follicles  LOL! You may get more than you bargained for :haha: And I say if you wanna shop go ahead and shop. Yes, def hit the clearance racks just shop greens and yellows :) That's why dh and I have so many olives and yellows--I know we get US for gender prediction but sometimes it can be a bit off you know? Hate to buy all pink frillies and then Whoopsie! :haha: Be bringing Joe home in a Jane outfit, you know ? Anyway, the injectibles sound like a nightmare but that is just what you need to crack those follies open :bodyb: So if you have these awesome looking follies will they trigger you then do the double IUI?

Oh, I do hope you get the rain! I would love it ecept not tonight...As I dumped the garage out into the drive way and it was too darn hot at end of day to pack it all back I, well, I sort of left it out there  lol! So it is up under the eve of the roof but could still get wet....

What are your plans for tonight Ali? I am gonna take a speed shower then eat...I grabbed a peice of whatever meat dh was eating and kept at my work this evening so I am hungry now  Thinking of an omelot again, quick n'easy!

Where is our girl Jess btw? :growlmad: I'm gonna go stalk her chart...:haha:

Ali- if you are still online check out Jess' chart! Spike to 97.9 this a.m. :happydance: My fingers and toes are crossing so much I am starting to get cramps in my feet.....:haha:

HEHE.. don't want to bring Joe home in Jane's outfit  that is for sure! I doubt I will have 10 follicles, as I only had 2 on Friday. You never know though, maybe more will develop? There were some smaller ones in the 5-6mm range that they didn't officially count.

Apparently this is not uncommon, each woman responds differently to the injectibles, and some need to take it up to CD21 before the follicles are mature enough to trigger. I hope that doesn't happen to me! I need to get back to FL before then! :dohh: So yes, the plan is to keep taking drugs until I have some mature follicles, and then trigger and do the IUIs. I'm not sure whether they will do one IUI then trigger then do the next or what. Since I have triggered quickly in the past. I guess I should ask Donna when I am down there on Tues/Wed. I don't really want to go in on Tues because it will be super busy with all the other women going in that day too. She warned me that it would be crazy! So I may wait until Wednesday. Just not sure if I should?

OHH.. That is a nice spike!!! Here is hoping that it continues, and Jess gets a BFP!!! That would be so awesome  We need her to :test: maybe tomorrow or Monday for sure!

The Meds can have crazy side effects. I was on follistim (similar to gonal f) 375 and menopur 150. I had at least 30 follicles. They were only able to retrieve 13 because they couldn't get to my other ovary. I am pretty sure that is why I got severe ohss. I still feel my left ovary is enlarged. Last they checked it was bigger than a large grapefruit. Ovaries are normally the size of an almond. No wonder I was dying in pain! Hang in there Ali!
