Welcome to 'Trying To Conceive Over 35'

Thank you all for letting me RANT! :hugs:

Coy: it sounds like you have a lot going on. sorry you had a tough day. I hope you get a decent sleep and tomorrow is a better day :hugs:

Aw, it's just "one of those days" :) I try to keep my chin up and face it head on like a ton of bricks, and generally get it done that way, but tonight I just sort of...didn't :haha: lol! As I said, I am sure by tomorrow morning I can chalk it all up to hormones! Thanks for the kind words :hugs:

How are you this evening btw? I love your siggy! :haha: Your count of go :spermy:s go made me laugh although it is no joking matter :)

Coy, all this running around after everyone else is bound to catch up with you, you tire me out, just reading all the stuff you're doing. I couldn't manage to do all that now, let alone at 7 months pregnant in the heat. Slow down Woman. I also think you need to talk to your Hubby, explain to him that you are in the late stages of the pregnancy and you're exhausted. he probably just sees you getting on with stuff and doesn't realise how much you are actually doing, its a man thing, they just think the fairies come and do all the work. I worry about you and the baby, you're doing so much. If you don't stop, you'll wear yourself out and be spending the next few weeks on bed rest in hospital. xx

Sorry if that sounds a bit harsh, but you should be relaxing more and taking care of yourself and your precious cargo. xx

Hi ladies. Hope you are doing well. Af started today, well actually last night. I woke up with blood everywhere. So not fun. Usually I have some spotting for a couple days first. It has been a miserable day in that department and the heat hasn't helped. It was 108 at 8 pm tonight! I called RE office and they told me to start bcp today and the ivf coordinator would call me tomorrow. I always think it is so weird that they put you on birth control pills when you are trying to get pregnant. I understood before that they didn't want me to ovulate on my own because I was doing Stims but I didn't think it would be the same with FET. Oh well. Tonight was meet the teacher. I can't believe my boy is a first grader. He starts school on wednesday and he is so excited. His best friend is in his class and Caleb could barely contain himself when the teacher told him they could choose their own seat. Lol.

Coy, I totally hear ya about the heat. I seriously do as little as possible outside. I think it is remarkable all that you accomplish in a day. Sorry about your night. I have felt that many times. Sometimes I deal with it better than other times. Try not to over extend yourself too much girl!

Jess, sorry to hear about af...I was so discouraged myself today even though I knew there was no chance of me being pg. I guess after all the bleeding issues I have had, I was enjoying the break. But it is nice to know that at least my body is in some sort of cycle. Let's just hope and pray that I stop bleeding this time.

Ali, I am recovering pretty good. Still can't shake the headaches but I am hanging in there. The frosties are waiting but I am starting to get impatient. Wowsers, can't believe those dang bears! Too bad there was no hootch in the watermelon. I have never seen a drunk bear but that could have been entertaining. Lol.

Twotogo, I couldn't help but lol at the thought of you two getting caught.

Hope everyone else is doing well. Have a lovely day!

So we have a couple of newbies!

divee... My name is Jess...keep your head up and your hopes high! It will happen...staying positive is imperative in this process...and all of us are here to help keep you that way! :hugs:

Sunflower...you're so cute thinking 35 is too old! I'm 40 (soon to be 41) and I don't feel too old at all!! And neither should you! :winkwink:

Coy, Alin, and Ali...I'm pretty sure that AF has made her wicked appearance. I normally do NOT spot before AF. She arrived four days early...I'm not sure why though. Oh well...At least I have my first temp chart!!

How is everyone else doing?

AFM...I am not sure why my temps have not dropped yet. Any ideas from any experts out there???

AWW.. Jess.. Here is what I have read about temps and our cycles. We start off with cooler temps because estrogen is a cooling hormone. When we ovulate, progesterone starts to release from the corpus luteum (the follicle after the egg has been released). As this rises, our temp rises. So if your temp is still high you are still producing progesterone. Usually periods do not come until progesterone levels have dropped. I am not aware of people getting their periods until this has dropped. I guess it is possible for your temp to drop tomorrow. So wait and see what happens with it tomorrow! So how many days were you past O before your period showed up?

Thanks Jess
I was able to regain my self, after that stressful night. I am trying to be positive because I know that I needed that attitude.
Anyways, my hubby is so understanding and I know that I am not alone on this trip. Thanks

hi ladies, im back to positive thinking and hopefully not to depart from it again. I am preparing my self for the worst ( if IVF is worst ) btw i was given ethinyl estradiol to help with my endometrium. Hopefully this one will work. I will do everything for that little one to end up in my arms.

So, it is my belief that it showed up yesterday...which was 13DPO...hmmm...maybe those really low temps at the beginning of my last cycle were due to something else. I guess we will have to see what tomorrow's temps reveal...
Also, I didn't sleep real well over the weekend. Maybe that has something to do with my higher temps. But I slept well last night...:shrug: ...oh well...

Jess - so I just looked at your chart, and you got your temp drop. I have been told in the past by my Dr to count your first day (CD1) as the first day of real flow. So the spotting days are not considered your period. They are the end of the last month. That would also give with your temp drop, if your flow picks up a little today, or possibly tomorrow. One thing I would consider doing this next month is seeing if your DR would be amenable to doing a 7DPO progesterone test. It might be a good idea to see if you have any issues with lower progesterone once you O. If so, you could be doing just fine with conception, but you aren't able to implant due to the lack of progesterone. Unless you've already had that test? I think it is quite common for women once we get older to have this issue. :hugs:

Coy - PLEASE talk to DH. I know you are trying to keep him from having to do things, but in a relationship there is give and take, and I think you have pretty much given all you can. In your state you have to rest! Most women in your position, are waited on hand and foot by their men. While this may not be possible since your DH has his own health problems, I think he can take on a few more chores, or at least help out more with the girls.

So I think I ran out of Gonal F last night. I might be able to squeeze a shot out for tonight, but I'm not sure if that is going to happen. I do have the menopur so at least I can take that. I am going to call down to Donna to see if that is OK. I have missed the US appts of the day as they only do them at 8am. So that part will be happening tomorrow morning. My back is killing me from the injections. Not in a PMS kind of way, but more of an achy back kind of way. It is very odd. So I can't wait to stop taking the meds! I just hope my follicles have responded and are nice and plump and ready to O in the coming days!

Gn - I have thought about the possiblilty, and it makes me laugh as well. Fortunately, there is a lock on his office door. I don't have one on my door, which is why his office is our only option. (although my office would be more... comfortable. :haha:)

Coy - Get some rest, woman!!!!! You cannot do it all, and trying to do so will have negative repercussions sooner or later - and it will probably be sooner. So be nice to yourself.

Hi ladies, thanks for all the kind advice, I think you all correct though< I am going to have to make him do some of it otherwise leave it undone. If he doesn't care for the undone part he can do it :haha: But i spent a horrbile night of the weirdest body cramping--My hip cramped all the way dpwn into my foot and was so bad my leg actually twisted sideways  and I could not walk on it for fear of poppiongmy knee out of socket  Then the other side tried to cramp, and when I reached to try and rub the cramp away my hands cramped! So something def going on, will maybe talk to doc about it today.

On a brighter note, I'm gonna go have a small cup of coffee (usually no more than 4-5 ounces) and decide what I want to do with myself :haha:

Jess- NUTS!for AF :growlmad: How are ya handling it, haven't heard you on here for a day or so-Miss you! :hugs: How's the training going? I envy you your rush while working out :cloud9: Can't wait to gt back to it hard :haha:

Ali- I bet you ARE getting tired of the injections, never fun...hope ya got enough for tonight then get in tomorrow morning. Let us know what the lady says when you call

All you ladies :hi: I'll be back on in a few! :friends:

I have a 450 IU of Gonal-F ($500!) of which I only used 75 IU. Since it only lasts 30 days in the refrigerator and I don't think I want to medicate next month (if I'm not successful getting pg this month), it's pretty much $400 down the toilet :dohh: But it's worth it if we end up with a healthy baby  or two :oneofeach: !

Ali, I wish you lived next door so I could just give it to you. I know what you mean about the meds; the way they make you feel sucks! FX's for good follie and lining growth.

So did you get the aches and pains? I feel like an old woman! Even my hips are achy. I get up out of a chair or off the bed and I almost topple over due to the pain. It takes me a few steps to walk it off before I feel steady on my feet. It does subside a bit after walking around for a few minutes, but WOW! I hope it is only one more day. I think it is the Menopur that is really causing the pain, as it started when I started Menopur. I really do hope I have enough for one more shot! I am not so sure though, I will be pulling a tiny bit from each pen, and there are like 10 pens! Just hope I can make 75 iu! LOL.

FirstTry, that is so sweet, and thanks for the offer! Do you think this month took? Where are you in your cycle? Forgive me if I keep having to ask, I can barely remember what CD I'm on!

Hi Ali. I had my IUI yesterday (see signature ;)). I had a tough time with the Gonal-F shot. It stung when it went in. I had to poke 5 times to get it in too. You probably do have enough. Though the vials look small, there's more in there than you realize.

I didn't get the symptoms you're having, but did have some bloating and generally discomfort. Post-IUI, I had painful cramps, which are halfway gone today.

Everyone: DH says that I drive myself crazy during the TWW and asked that I not do anything on the internet (message boards, research, etc) for the next 7 days. I think it's worth a try. So, I'll see you next Tuesday. Good luck to everyone!!!

Ali- I agree, I think with 10 pens to gather from you should be able to come up with the 75...fx'd for ya! Only one more to go til your appointment tomorrow  What happens then? Do they check the follicles then maybe trigger shot?

Well I have already tried to get everything I can from the pens. They are all basically empty! I will try to get more. Yes, they will do a scan and more bloodwork and probably give me the trigger shot to take home with me just in case I'm ready. They take the blood when I'm there, but it takes a minimum of an hour for them to run it, so they usually call me back when they have the results in the afternoon.

I am not overly confident that they are big enough, as they were only 7mm in side on CD7, and tomorrow will be CD12, at 1-3mm per day, I guess they could be 17mm? Maybe I have some others that have grown too? There were other follicles under 7, like 9 on one side and 7 on the other? So I guess we'll see what they look like tomorrow!

Ali..so...what happens if you don't get the Gonal-F today? As long as your follies don't explode or something you should be good  LOL, JK!!!! That won't happen, can you get any from the clinic for today?

Jess- where are you? Talk to us!!

AFM- I am all better now, thanks for lettin' me rant last night :haha: I am tired to day and doc told me to take extra calcium with vit D and Magnesium for the cramping...now just gotta figure out which one...

Happy HUMP day to everyone! Does that mean there should be a whole lot of "humping" :sex: going on? :haha: Well, boooo! Not for me...since AF decided to visit. I don't know why she keeps coming around when it is sooooo obvious that she is NOT welcome! I try to :ignore: her but she makes it difficult! :haha:

Coy...how are you? have you managed to sit your rear-end down and relax a bit? Or better yet, just ...you are going to need energy when your little one arrives...and you are not going to find energy in your garage, closets, or any other place you plan on organizing or reorganizing! :haha:
You had asked me about my workouts a few posts back and I never responded. My trainer has me on a rotation...Arms, Shoulders, Legs, Chest, Back, Legs...wash, rinse and repeat!:winkwink: I do legs every third day, abs every other day, and at least 1.5 hours of cardio everyday. Whew! Today I have chest...and right now, until my show in September, I am lifting heavy. :bodyb:
We are going to have to come up with some fantastic workouts for you after you have the baby!! :winkwink:

Ali...How are you doing? Are you still giving yourself shots? OUCH!! I certainly hope those follicles are growing!! What is next on your TTC plan? I called and left a message for my FS to see if my progesterone levels were checked back when they did the blood work. I left a message and I am waiting to hear back. BTW, when are you coming back to the states? Or is Canada looking more like a permanent stay?

FirstTry...I know you won't be back for a week but I have to ask...are you giving yourself shots too!?!? I just dont know how yall do it. I am such a weenie!

And what is going on with everyone else? I have been MIA for the last couple of days because I am getting ready to go out of town for the weekend AGAIN. But this time it is with my son, my BF, and his parents. Going to the coast for a wedding and some fishing...should be fun...

Hey! Sorry.. busy night last night, didn't get home until midnight. Then I was up early and off to the clinic. So now I have 4 follicles on my left ovary and they are 8, 9, 9, 10 (almost 11) in size. So we are growing, but very slowly. She took my blood and gave me more Gonal F and Menopur and said she't let me know what dose I should use once she had seen my blood work. I'm to come back down on Saturday for another scan and blood work. So that is what is going on with me. No idea what is up with my temp jump? Maybe I didn't get enough sleep? Not sure, but it rose a degree overnight, and I'm nowhere near ready to ovulate. I guess we'll know more once the blood work comes in.

Glad you are feeling better Coy! Hope the cramping goes away with the extra vitamins!! Glad you asked and got some options :)

I'm happy I have 4 follicles, that is exactly what I was hoping for! LOL! Now I just need all 4 to GROW. I really wish I had my heating pad with me, that seemed to really help 2 months ago! Oh and I'm so very exhausted. I need to  tonight for sure!
