Welcome to 'Trying To Conceive Over 35'

TwoToGo-

No, you are not being unreasonable! Washing the dishes is a fairly easy chore for children to perform . I for one am fairly strict when it comes to chores and kids. For example- my daughter will be 8 soon and asked for chores. So dh and I gave her
1) Make your own bed
2) Feed the Boston Terrier
3) Scrape your own plate after a meal.

Hmph! Wow, it is tough, and they do try every trick in the book. What you need to tell your ds about the ice tray deal, and this is just in my own words  “You just earned yourself double duty bud!” lol. Wow, I have truly done the bathtub clothes washing thing. Our washer broke down last year and that’s where I was at. Anyway I think you should start demanding equal shares and not worry about wether you are being tough or not. You can’t let your kids get away with having you do everything for them. They are old enough to handle that responsibility. And yeah, I think as they will benefit from your hard work canning then they SHOULD contribute by doing all the dishes :haha:

Angel- Thanks! Btw, it’s all looking positive, hope you get your bfp!

Ali- Got my fx’d for you, I don’t blame you for being frustrated though. You’re not out til :witch: shows up! And yeah, it can be expensive….as far as the cost I know of a lady on a different thread who just had her baby—she used donor sperm but I think she went about it differently and used the syringe method at home. As your tubes are clear I don’t see why you couldn’t do this. Fresh specimen may work better than frozen if it doesn’t work this month  I will read in her blog and find out more info for you. I will post a link to her thread as well. :hugs: :hugs: :dust:

BabyWhisperer- how are you today?

Jess- you’re MIA again! How are you?

Hey Coy!

I feel like I should be growing gills at any moment! It is still raining cats and dogs, and there has been a lot of flooding in my town. It is not bad here where I live, and I could get out if I needed to do so. I don't so I don't plan on trying! No sense getting stuck out there, when I am safe and the doggies are safe too. Still, I feel like I am more of a fish then human! :haha:

Still no AF and no more spotting. I was looking at my FF and it said that I have amassed 72pts and that if you get to 80 or above then you have a 70-90% chance of being pregnant. I think this scoring system is something you get when you pay for the full version, which I have been doing. It took me 3 months to finally get to the bottom of what the points mean! LOL! :haha: I wish I could remember what my points were last month! UGH. My head is pounding again, my boobs hurt like hell, and my tummy is on again and off again nauseous. IDK, maybe I am? Maybe I'm not?

I did call my FS here in FL to get on their radar for this month coming up, as I realized I wouldn't be able to do a cycle in October with my traveling back to Canada again (only for a week). Still, its right in the middle of my cycle and I can't do that! So she said to call tomorrow and we'll get a plan in place for me once AF shows. As for doing it on my own, yes I could insert the :spermy: on my own, but it is less effective and I don't have access to fresh sperm! :haha: Unless you know anyone that would like to contribute? Maybe I could take an ad out on craigslist? That would be hilarious! :haha:

How was your sleep last night? Did DD stay in her bed? It is pouring here still, 8-10 inches of rain in the past 24 hours.. anybody want some? :haha:

:hi: everyone!! It has been a long weekend!

Coy...how are you? Sorry I keep going MIA...my chart is crazy this month. I hope I can slow down a bit now that school has started back.

Ali... are you still above water? I've been watching the news...also, I was so hoping to open up my page to a BFP...DO I need to come have a talk with your test sticks? :haha:

TwoToGo...I read your rant and I'm exhausted!! Lol! I hope you get it all situated. Everyone needs to do their part. It is the only way things go smoothly...

TiaTammy...good to see you back on. :hugs:

BabyWhisperer...How are you today?

AFM...the party was great...he was truly surprised. But I don't think I will be doing anymore surprise parties. It was almost the death of us. He was positive something was going on and didn't like it one bit that I was keeping stuff from him. I told him I would never do a surprise party again...we both agreed that was for the best. He went out Friday night with his friends and came home very :drunk:...it was kind of funny. But it also gave me time to do what I needed to do on Saturday. He didn't wake up til 2pm!!

So I hope my I can do a better job of keeping track of my temp chart next month. Does anyone know if I should still take my temp even if I don't do it at 4:30am?

Jess! Welcome back! Sounds like you had a great time, but no more surprise parties. Glad he had fun, and enjoyed his night out with the boys. I wish I could get :drunk: sometimes. It is just not smart to be doing that when TTC! I have the occasional drink here and there, but not more than 1 or 2! I get up at different times every day, and just take my temp when I first wake. If its after 4am, then I typically just take the temp at that time. If its before 4, then I wait as I normally don't get up until 7:30am, so I should get another 3-4 hours sleep and can test when I wake up. Its not perfect, but it is the best I can do with my schedule and the dogs, etc.

Please come have a chat with my ICs and even the FRERs I tested with a FRER this morning, and it was negative too. Stupid HPTs. They are just not co-operating!

Ali.... :hugs::hugs:, though you're still not out till that :witch: shows.

Jess... great to hear from you and I'm glad you had a fab weekend. Did DH think you were having an affair? It'll keep him on his toes and I'm sure he is more than relieved whatever he thought:winkwink:.

Coy... I got my BFP last week remember :winkwink: (slow down lady :coffee:)

Tiatammy... nice to 'see' you.

GNCope... if you're about at all, thinking of you. How are you feeling? Has anybody heard from GN?

Babywhisperer.... I'm feeling not too bad thanks, symptoms are coming and going but I'm only 5 1/2 weeks so I fully expect them to hit me full swing over the next couple of weeks. I'm just a little nervous with my history of RMCs but am remaining positive

Twotogo.... how did your day end up?

Twotogo.... how did your day end up?

Well I will certainly keep sending positive sticky vibes your way!
I am cd13 and got darker lines on my opk on Sat/Sun but then they faded as Sunday went on. I didn't test Friday since I forgot. So we bd Sat twice 1 in the morning and 1 that night, followed by once Sunday morning, and once this morning. Lines are still visible but slightly less dark then thay have been and definitely less than the reference line. Does this mean I've ov'd? Should we bd tonight and/or tomorrow for good measure? Also what's everyone's thoughts on bd'ing 2x/day? Or every 12-18hs? I felt some pinching on my right side yesterday and today so I'm wondering if I am at or past my most fertile day. If I feel pinching on my ovary am I past my window? I just need to plan our bd schedule as my husband is a lawyer and works long hrs...if we need to bd again tonight I need to plan to do it before he settles in to work after he gets home. Poor guy works until6 or 7 then comes home, works out, then works from home until 11 sometimes later. We have to bd before he gets into work from home mode or else I end up going to bed since I have to be at work much earlier than him.

We had a storm of our own here in NY, but nothing like Florida. We got a pop up storm that we got 2 inches of rain and crazy wind, thunder, and lightning for over an hr...now it's sunny.

These opks have me confused...is the best time to bd when I get a darker line or 12-36hrs later? How is everyone else doing?

The best time to BD is the days before you ovulate, then the day you ovulate and the day after. So if you ovulated on Saturday then you should have been ovulating on Wednesday through Sunday. BD'ing multiple times a day can be good or bad. Doctors tend to disagree on whether this is a help or a hindrance. I think the issue is sperm quality, as it takes most men a while to regenerate to a high enough count that will be beneficial for fertilizing an egg. In fact some suggest BD'ing every other day for the most fertile 5 days. So I think its up to you and how often you 2 can make the time during those 5 days to get it done! :dust:

I would say so since you said it got lighter on Sunday then you probably did ovulate on Saturday. I think I would continue to BD as you normally would, and then next month get some of the Clear Blue Easy Ovulation Kits with the happy face. They are more expensive, but they really do help to pinpoint your surge, and they are much easier to read. It usually takes a few months of checking your ovulation before you get an idea of what is normal for your body. I usually ovulate around cd15-17 and have a 32 day cycle, that is normal for me, but we are all different! Have you considered temping? That is another way to determine when you are ovulating.

I'm so confused, I thought the darker lines meant LH surge and I would ovu 12-36hrs later, at least that's what the directions say...and a site said the following:

"Once you have a positive urinary-ovulation-prediction test, you should have sex that day and again about 24 hours later. If you want to have sex a third time—the following day (two days after a positive test)—that is a good idea but probably not as important."

Maybe I've been wroung that if my period is cd1-7, could I really ovu as early as cd8? I figured the positive lines on the opk on Sat cd11 meant ovu was coming in 12-36hrs. I'm just wondering if our bd'ing on the day we got a positive line (cd11) and the next day (cd12) were the most fertile days. Hmmmm...I just used another test and the line is only slightly lighter, but the line isn't as solid..maybe a tad broken if you will? I hate these line tests...if we don't get a BFP I am getting the smiley face ones!

Let's not talk about the test, but rather what it is testing. Its testing your LH surge. This is a hormone that gets higher as you are about to ovulate, and then once you have ovulated it goes back down again. So with the kits it is really hard to tell when you start surging and when it is over, as you are just looking at lines. It does sound like you ovulated somewhere between Saturday and Sunday as you said the line got lighter on Sunday. This can also be due to how concentrated you urine was too. So again hard to tell. That is why I prefer the digital smiley ones. You likely ovulated sometime between Saturday and Sunday, if you look at any website and look at the days you are most fertile you are most fertile the day before you ovulate and the day of ovulation. You are also fertile the days leading up to ovulation as well, and they throw in the day after ovulation for good measure. This is all due to the life of the sperm versus the life of the egg. So as long as you BD'd at a minimum a few times during that window you should be fine. Without blood tests or any other means of determining when you ovulated, that is the best you are going to get this month.

How hard is charting, or should I ask how tedious? I am not great with remembering to take my temp and I usually get up an hr before my alarm to pee then go back to bed. If I don't get my bfp this cycle then I will try the smiley face opks and charting. I'm crossing my fingers and toes for this cycle! :dust: to all of us!

Angel, we had us a nice long talk about respect and working together to get things done. I'm pretty sure they got the point. :winkwink: Right now my son is upstairs in the bathroom working on laundry. I told them we would all help with the laundry.
The baby I'm minding showed up around noon. Since I have been doing laundry most of the afternoon, my daughter has been taking care of her. She's doing a good job and also learning more about babies and their needs. Right now she's trying to get the little sweetie to sleep. She's doing a great job.

Well, got to go. Baby is getting fussier than what my daughter knows how to handle.

It is not that hard. You can create an account at www.fertilityfriend.com for free. You need to get a basal thermometer they cost about $7-10 and you can get them at Walmart or Target. Then you just need to get into the habit of taking your temp before you do anything else (including pee). That is sometimes the hardest for me as I'll get up before my alarm to pee and I'm bursting, and I have to lay there for 60 seconds and take my temp first. It feels like that minute is going to take forever and I'm going to explode! :haha:

Oh, I meant to say the smiley face ovulation kits can be bought at Walmart for $27 or something like that. I was just there the other day pricing them out.

Fingers crossed that this cycle works for you too

So, tomorrow I'm 7 dpo. I know it is rediculous to test so early, but those IC's are screaming my name. Whatever shall I do??? :haha:

Here's a pic of my daughter putting the baby to sleep.

Thanks girl! FX'd for us both. You would think in this day and age with all the technology we could download an app, wave it in front of our girly bits and it would tell us whats going on! Like Green light for bd time, red light for times we aren't fertile or AF is coming, martini glasses, sushi, and coffee for BFNs and noise makers, streamers and balloons or a giant stork for BFPs. Cmon Apple, figure that sh*t out!

Just my $.02, don't do it...you'll likely get a bfn and get upset, frustrated and start to obsess. Wait as much as you can. I think 13dpo is when the chances of getting a bfp vs a bfn really start to spike. Think of all the $$ you'll save, cheapies are annoying and a waste. If I'm late that's the earliest I'll test from now on. I can't take the daily emotional roller coaster, but that's just me. If they are in the house I will test so I'm not even buying them.

Ali- heck yes I want some of your rain! :rain: It has been hot here today. I have been busy running court papers and stuff, legal junk takes for Ever  Anyway, back home now…
Ah, looking at your chart, it does look pretty darn good…I know the temps aren’t in the 98’s but you have had months when it was and you didn’t get bfp so I’d say it’s not the height in temp that matters so much with your body. FF is pretty accurate too  Plus you are well above your cover line. Your chart indicates one day to testing—will you test in the morning with fmu and a frer?? Nope, I don't know anyone wanting to give free samples :haha:

Tiatammy- I am glad you are going to try the clomid. I used it a few years ago when I was having cycle troubles—no side effects that I could notice. I was an employer back then so just naturally bitchy I think :haha: Keep us posted on how things work!

Jess- yep surprise parties can be draining! I have learned not to even try and keep things from my dh. He used to do secret service type work and darned if he doesn’t figure me out! :growlmad: LOL! But he knows me well enough to know I’ll go snooping his stuff out if he tries surprising me too so we’re open with each other  Yes, I would def keep charting and temping—are you changing what time you get up? It doesn’t matter when you wake up as far as temping, just make sure t temp before you get up or, um, dooooooo anything :sex: LOL!

Angel- NUTS! :dohh: I can’t believe I forgot your bfp! I do need to slow down :coffee: Then again I was trying to put my bra on feet first the other day, my brain’s not all where it should be. I tried brushing my teeth with dish soap yesterday  and have this problem going to use the restroom, locking the door, then forgetting what I’m in there for :dohh: Baby brain in the extreme! :haha: So Congrats again! Lol, I am happy for you and promise I’ll remember this time :hugs: I might forget who I am and where I live …..…..Oh, btw, ms usually kicks in at 6 weeks so brace yourself! Are you on progesterone? I am so glad I did go on it, now I have a phobia my corpus luteum stops working too early :sad1: but would rather take the prog supps than take the chance, iykwim?

Babywhisperer- from what I understand when you get a solid positive (test line as dark or darker) start bd’ing that day and then the next. By then you should have ovulated. You may continue to get surges of lh though which can explain the lines. I’d venture to say you are dpo somewhere but I haven’t seen any pics of opks :growlmad: LOL! P.S. Omg at the “girly parts” LOL! Don’t we wish it was that simple? :haha:

TwoToGo- Def TEST :test: LOL! Yep, it’s too early but we’ve all been there. Your sanity demands that you test  But I agree with Babywhisperer- don’t even buy the tests til 10 dpo! :haha:

AFM- crazy day with my afore mentioned court papers, had to wait for the judge so I have donw a lot of boring sitting around in court. Now I am trying to decide what slightly gross and very tedious job I want to persue…….I’d sooo love to get the danged garage finished to my satisfaction! It takes a long time to sort 6 years worth of collecting! But it’s hot outside and I have ice cream in the freezer……

I would have taken pics if I knew how to upload them. I can be a luddite when it comes to technology. I'm hoping we were spot on with timing.

As for your court papers...I completely understand. My hubbs is a lawyer and the files he has to read and carry around is absurd. He works crazy hours and is so thorough...sometimes I think they get paid by the amount of ink or per page! He's one of the good ones though, does a lot of pro bono work...it's amazing we have any free time to :sex: Can you explain what role prescribed progesterone has? And the corpus luteum stop working too early? I swear I took health in 7th grade...maybe I need a refresher course.
