Welcome to 'Trying To Conceive Over 35'

Babywhisperer-
From what I understand the cyst releases an egg- then the cyst becomes your corpus luteum and begins to produce progesterone (this causes your basal body temp to rise). Once the egg implants into the uterine wall it relys upon the progesterone being produced by the corpus luteum to survive. Generally the corpus luteum is supposed to produce progesterone until the placenta has fully formed (around weeks 11-12) and the placenta then takes over production of progesterone. At this point (as it is no longer needed) the corpus luteum withers and dies. The theory is that in women over 35 the corpus luteum often gets stupid  and withers a few weeks too early. I am thinking that may have been what happened with my mc in November, the corpus luteum died at about 6-7 weeks and the baby was lost as a result (no progesterone to support it). Anyway, so when I got my bfp this time I called my doc and he immediately put me on natural (micronized) progesterone vaginal suppositories. Kinda messy but so worth it! My doc said he has had a lot of women with re-current mc's decide to try the progesterone and carry to full term  and there is no danger in taking it. I only had to take it to week 12 and then stop as the placenta was fully formed. Worth a thought anyway :)

Wow, didn't know your dh was an attorney- I am studying college courses right now prepping for law school. I thought I do everything I can and stay out of trouble but there are so many troublemakers in the world I always end up needing an attorney anyway  Why not become one? :haha:

Hi ladies! I have been around here and there trying to keep up with everyone. Congrats Angel!
Fx'd for you Ali!
Hi Jess and Coy and everyone else!
It has been a rough few months as most of you know. I have now been out of the hospital for a little over a week. I am still very short of breath from the pulmonary embolism. Thankfully I have had help from friends and church members getting DS to school and bringing in meals. I have been getting the run around from my doctor's office since I got out of hospital. I am supposed to have blood tested twice a week to prevent and further blood clots and my they are just sending me to random places. First I went to my dr the day after I came out f the hospital. They asked me why I was there and told me that they couldn't monitor my levels. They sent me to the lab (just this one time). I never did get results. Then they called me last week and told me I had an appt with a cardiologist the next day. I went there and the doc was like, why are you here? You don't have heart problems, you have blood clots on your lungs. I dont know. This is where my dr told me to go. They have a coumadin clinic to check blood but only for their own patients. They let me get tested and my level was really high...not good. I had to stop all Meds for a few days. Thank goodness! My stomach is all bruised and lumpy from shots. I called my dr back and then they referred me to a clinic that my insurance doesn't cover so it would cost me $70/visit and I go twice a week. That is not happening. I went back to cardio dr for testing and go again this week. My levels are a bit better. They suggested I see a hematologist. I called and they said I needed a referral. I called my dr back and haven't heard back. I am beyond frustrated. This really is a life or death thing and I can't catch a freaking break! They told me I am very high risk for stroke right now if one of the many blood clots breaks off and travels. Dang, I am only 37! I have an appt with a new dr tomorrow morning and am really hoping for more positive results. The plan is still 6-12 months of treatment. I feel like I literally just sit here all day thinking of my 7 frosties, feeling so discouraged that we came so far and got so close. I am really trying to take things one day at a time and focus on my health. It is so hard and it is incredibly lonely. I told DH that maybe I should take out the sewing machine to give me something to do. I just got all my scrapbook stuff put away and don't want to drag that all out right now. I do have 3 baby books to finish though :S
I hope you are all doing well and are safe.
Baby dust to all!

Morning Lovely Ladies!

Wow, I go away for a few days and I've had to read 4 whole pages this morning, its taken me pretty much from 8 to 10.30. Phew!

Well, Coy, yes, we went diving on Wednesday and Thursday, then again on Sunday. Went back to work, just for the day on Friday. Visited Mother-in-law Saturday and my family yesterday (as it was a Bank Holiday here), so its been a really busy few days. I've taken today and tomorrow off work to try to get things straight at home.

On Monday, last week, I went out for a walk in the morning, when I got back, decided to have coffee, so put the kettle on and BANG! Oops, guess I'm not making a coffee then?? Switched the power back on, but the kettle was a no-go. Ended up boiling some water on the hob, which took ages. Next I put on a load of washing and BANG! Oh no, washing machine has broken, there were lots of sparking noises. Unplugged the washing machine, turned the power back on and put the washing in the basket, ready to wash in the sink. Monday evening, went to put something in our halogen oven and guess what??? Yep, you guessed it - BANG! Don't know what was going on in our house, but didn't dare use anything electrical until Hubby could check it out. When he did, he couldn't find anything wrong.

Well, we've bought a new kettle, ordered a new element for the Halogen oven and called an engineer to come and look at the washing machine. Grrrrr, its all flippin' money at the moment.

Well, still not managing to find that elusive Ov' yet, but have been BDing every other day anyway, just to try to make sure we don't miss it. I'm thinking this is going to be one of my long cycles again. I just wish I could be more regular. I did have to take some Ibruprofen the other day though as the storms here are giving me really bad headaches and thats all I can take that actually works. When I've taken them before, they seem to delay ovulation.

Well, I'm still on the edge of my seat waiting to see that :bfp: from Ali, but so pleased to see one from Angel, congratulations, heres to a healthy, sticky bean for you.

Coy, you still really need to slow down Woman, you only have a few weeks left and you'll be running around after another mouth to feed and bum to change etc. You need to get your rest now, while you can! Oh yes, btw, when I was pregnant, Hubby watched me vacuum 2 rooms before he couldn't control his laughing and eventually told me that the vacuum hadn't been switched on the whole time. He also laughed when he found cheese in the cutlery drawer. I did all sorts of funny stuff. Putting your bra on your feet though, thats really funny.

GN, I hope you manage to get yourself sorted soon, it must be so frustrating getting pushed from pillar to post.

Everyone else, :hi:

GNCOPE - Wow! Sorry you are going through all of this! I will be praying for you that you can get to a doctor who will get things straightened out.

Teri- Sounds like our homes are on the same wave-length. Hope nothing else takes out on you.

Coy - I still think you need to slow down a little more. Get some rest!

Jess - Glad your party went well! Sorry your BF thought you were having an affair, but for some reason, that really made me laugh.

Ali - How are you doing? Thinking about you going through this storm. Fx'd for you still.

AFM - I didn't test this morning as I have been getting frequent flyer points :loo: I am soooo exhausted! Don't know if it's all the :hangwashing: I've been doing or what, but my body doesn't want to move this morning. Unfortunately, I have so much to do before we leave tomorrow morning. I'm babysitting again today. Actually, I will probably have DD do it again since she packed last night and has more energy than I do. DS is actually doing most of his laundry this morning - all by himself, his own choice. :wohoo: So I'm guessing that our little 'talk' helped yesterday.

I probably won't be on here much for the next week, as I don't know when or where I will have internet access. Hopefully when I get back I can report a :bfp: , but right now I'm too tired to think about it. I am going to let my kids drive on the way to their friend's house. In Nebraska, it is possible to get a farm permit to drive at the age of 13, and a school permit at 14. Most 14 year olds drive by themselves. Since my kids aren't in public school, they don't qualify, but right now I'm teaching them driver's education :winkwink: so I will just take my homeschool form and maybe make up a 'Student Driver' sticker to put in our car window. Geez, I'm rambling now. I'd better go get some :coffee: and try to get myself going for the day. I really just want to

Thanks for that info. Since I am turning 37 in Nov, maybe if I get a bfp I should consult my high risk obgyn on that point. I gott a tell you, I got such a cramp on my right side last night and dull aches today...is that the egg moving along it's path? We didn't bd lasts night, just yesterday morning, wondeering if we should bd tonight. I took another opk test and line was only slightly fainter than the reference line. The dull aches on my right side are a definite sign I am or have ov'd and last month I didn't feel a thing..I almost always feel ovu from my right...sometimes pain makes me take an advil.

I hear you about needing an atty, for me it's a dr or nurse. Between me and my health issues and my parents, I wish I had gone to med school. Hope you're feeling good girl, you're in the home stretch!

YIKES! That was a lot to catch up on!

Coy - you go get them in that law suit!!!

Jess - are you around?

BabyWhisperer - I would highly suggest discussing progesterone with your OBGYN once you get pregnant. I plan on it too!

GNCope - I'm glad you are finding yourself a new Dr, your old one doesn't seem capable of handling your issues.

twotogo - have a great time on vacation, and I hope you get your :bfp: when you return!

TerriLou - sounds like you had a great weekend, well except for your house being posessed! I'm guessing that you were having a power surge and you fried a few appliances, but by the time your DH came home it was gone. Hopefully you can get them fixed relatively cheaply! Here is hoping for your O soon! :dust:

Angel - how is your :bfp: have you had your appt yet to see if you should be on progesterone?

AFM - well as you can see from my chart I had a huge dip in temp this morning. I didn't even bother to test as it was just so low. I totally feel like AF will be here today or tomorrow, so I'll just wait for her to show up. I have to call my FS here and find out what they want to do this month. Since I am back in FL, my FS here may have different ideas about what I should do. OH, and remember I was talking about the pts that FF gives you as you get closer to testing? Well mine is at 81pts, and it says that if you reach 80 you have a 70-90% chance of being pregnant. I'm not so sure! Since it is very unlikely that I am pregnant  sounds like they need to rethink their study! :haha:

:hi: everyone!

Ali...are you still above water? I'll send you a life raft if you need one!! Stay dry!!

Coy...how are you feeling today? Has the temps cooled down yet where you are?

BabyWhisperer...I think I might be asking my FS about progesterone once I get PG. BTW...what is your age? I am 40 (41 in February). My BF wants THREE children!! Whew! If I could only get the first one started I would be so thankful to the man upstairs!!

TwoToGo...have fun!!

TerriLou...Angel...how are y'all doing?

AFM...I am irritated that my chart is all crazy. I don't know when I ovulated, I am on CD 22 and I am spotting...Oh well...I will just keep pressing...

HMM.. spotting early? Since we don't know when you O'd we can't really say if it is IB, but it could be? When are you due for AF? Maybe we can count backwards from that day to see if we can't figure out when you O'd? If you know how many days you usually are before AF shows.

Here is a picture of my street yesterday.. it is clear now.. That is my Zach contributing to the flood.. :haha:

I have an appt at 9am to see my FS on Thursday we'll figure out a plan then.

Hi Jess, don't you normally have a pretty regular 28 day cycle? If so, AF would be due in 6 days, which should mean that you are now 6dpo. Looking at your chart, it would put ov at about cd16, which is a pretty low temp on your chart, so could match up. If you are spotting at 6dpo, it could be a really good sign. I'll keep everything crossed for you. Well, not actually everything as I still haven't ov'd myself yet!!!

Hi ladies, another chatty day I see :winkwink:. Sorry this is a short post as I'm pooped

Ali... :hugs: you WILL get your rainbow baby soon. It must be quite frustrating financially and I hope you can work things out so you get there :hugs:. You don't have any great male friends :haha::winkwink:?

Coy... I had a giggle at your post as I can so understand how easy it is to forget posts on here, never mind running after 2 children and being pregnant on top of it :flower:

Jess... Glad BF is reassured now :winkwink:. From looking at your chart you do seem to have ovulated somewhere!

TerriLou... :hi:

Twotogo.... your pic of your daaughter with the baby was lovely, so sweet. I'm glad things have settled for you.

Babywhisperer... FF is ok once you get the hang of it, and Jess has just got into temping and got into the swing in a week or so, good luck :flower:

AFM... I'm a little worried as I can't get to see my RMC specialist until the 6th Sept. My GP wont prescribe me progesterone as she says it is outside their protocol so I just have to pray that everything will be ok in the interim. That's if the RMC specialist will even give me it . Does anybody know if you can buy it off the internet? I'm just not sure if I would/should do this either without medical advice? Any comments appreciated.

Have a good day all xo

Hi Angel. I cannot provide you with medical advice. But I can tell you that though i have never had my day 21 progesterone tested, my FS automatically prescribed Prometrium following my IUI. So, it seems safe to take. However, I don't know if you can get it without a prescription.

I've read on these boards about women using progesterone cream. Maybe that's available without a prescription, but who knows whether it works or is safe?

Fingers crossed for a sticky bean!!!

This is going to be a short post..

Angel- with your history of MC it would be strange if your RMC didn't prescribe progesterone. But then again we don't know what your level looks like on it's own. FX'd that all is well and your apt comes quickly!

I have a miserable headache again  and :witch: came this afternoon  so we start a cycle anew.. at least I'm regular and all that.

Going in to see my FS on Thursday morning, we'll discuss the plan for this cycle. Wonder what he will suggest?

Sorry to post and run but I need to close my eyes stupid head :(

So you see your FSthis Thursday? Nuts for AF showing! :growlmad: I am sorry, I know you must feel wasted now after all the effort and misery you have gone through with the shots and stress and efforts. Have a cold glass of wine hun, and try to get rid of that blasted headache! :hugs: hoping for some great news Thursday! Give a rant if that helps (it helps me TONS as you all well know :haha:) :hugs:

TwoToGo—Oooo, from how tired you sound and your high temps a bfp wouldn’t surprise me any Keep us updated when you can :hugs:

Jess- Hmm, I agree with Ali as far as the spotting early  But with your working out so hard (you’ve recently increased, correct?) then that may have something to do with the craziness on your chart. Hm. If you are CD22 then I’d say you may have already ovulated, so maybe test in a week :winkwink:

Ali- wow, the pic of the flooding is pretty awesome. Love your puppy’s“contribution” lol! Try to get some rest and take some of that migraine medicine :hugs:

Terri- o my gosh, when it rains it pours! Sounds like my house with everything going wrong all at once! :growlmad: Last year it was the kitchen stove and my dryer and plumbing. Now every faucet I own is leaking  lol!

Angel- thanks for understanding :hugs: But just to clarify I don’t have to run after my two children. All I have to do is spin in circles :headspin: LOL! :haha: I am exhausted today from spinning  Re: progesterone. Yes you can buy it off the internet in a cream form that you apply to like your thighs, arms, etc. There are a few ladies on bnb that have used it with great results. But the strongest method is transvaginal  Will a regular doc be willing to prescribe it to you? Maybe check around and explain your situation.

AFM- Ugh, another blasted scorching day working in the garage. It gets so hot in there I take breaks often so work is slow and tedious. I almost wrote "terd-ious" but I guess that applies too :haha: LOL, silly me....I made a funny :) Anywho, I am wasted again tonight, got the girls to sleep and a second load of laundry on and am going to take a shower. Got more firewood coming in the morning- 4 cords!- so will be busy.

So glad to have you all to chat with and apperciate hearing and taking a small part in your lives :hugs:

Gutted for you babe...I want to beat that witch's ass! Stay strong and now at least you can take your migraine meds! Feel better. :hugs:

:hi: everyone! I'm here but i am crazy busy at work today. Just wanted to check in.

Ali...I hope your headache is GONE!!

Coy...I hope you are feeling fantastic and potentially getting a slight break from the warm weather.

Angel...how are you today?

BabyWhisperer, FirstTry, Terri...SMILE!!

Oh yeah, I have connected with a few of you on FB...if anyone else is interested, here is my link...TTYL!! :hugs:
