Welcome to 'Trying To Conceive Over 35'

Hm. The last two days I have been craving milk. Like when I go past the refrigerator I have to stop, get the milk jug and I guzzle (yes, shamelessly straight from the jug). Just a few huge swigs, then I put it back  What the heck is this all about? I have never been a milk drinker really except in pregnancy. What gives?

Jess- what's your take on milk drinking? I worry about the fat in it but can't seem to stop myself. We usually buy either skim or 2% for the girls....I remember with T and Kat I would drink it in the first and last trimesters for a couple of weeks each but usually add cookies to that  No cookies this go 'round, I don't even let myself buy them :haha:

Jess- :hi: Yay! We are online at the same time, imagine that :haha:

Make that all 3 of us!

I second Jess's comment about forgetting to eat! It is very important that you get your vittles :haha: But seriously you need to eat!!!

Hey Coy and Ali! How are yall?

Coy...You need to quit with the forgetting to eat thing...I'd rather you forget to clean out your garage than forget to eat! Lol!

Lol...Yeah, however, my butt doesn't grow when I work in the garage :haha:

Thanks! Yeah, I know, I remembered last night so had some tomato soup and went to bed. Hm, today I had peanut butter on toast for breakfast......a cup of ice cream :cloud9:...and now I am cooking lemon chicken with rice for dinner. Generally I try to avoid the carbs but have been trying to boost my energy a bit  No pastas though, they're evil to me :sad1: lol!

I bet your body is in need of the calcium. You can get calcium from other sources, I think spinach and kale, along with oranges have calcium in them. That is if you are trying to avoid the fat. If you are drinking skim, then you should be just fine! Heck even 2% isn't all that terrible, plus you do need some fat in your diet!

Oh, and I have had the oddest "want" rather than a craving...Hummus! I actually bought hummus and wheat germ crackers to eat it on  I'm weird.....:coolio:

Obviously your body is needing something that is in milk. Whether it be vitamin D or calcium, I say go for it right now. But I am not a mild drinker because of the fat. Humans are the only species that continue to drink milk even after we are "weened." I like milk just fine but I don't drink it on a regular. I use it with cereal and of course :icecream: !!!

Strange you should mention it- I bought oranges for the first time in forever and have been mowing on them for the last few days! :laugh2: I try not to buy too much citrus as dh is diabetic. And I usually take about a 1000 mg of calcium a day but ran out and am too lazy to buy vitamins :sad1: lol!

Lemon chicken with rice sounds great! Add some spinach or broccoli to it and you'll get a nice serving of calcium  I had some ice cream :icecream: the other day it was really yummy. I wish I could find ice cream that wasn't so sweet! I mean I like some sweetness, but it was almost too sweet! Is that possible?

MMM, Jess, I have a huge ice cream addiction but try to limit it. Not every day of course, would if my butt would allow it :laugh2:

I try to avoid cereal too because of the carb issue, I was pretty stunned the way my glucose reacted to carbs like saltine crackers! I feel tons better with the PB on toast...although I worry about the fat in that too  but no more glucose spikes with that and don't want to give babes a case of diabetes either  Funny thing is I can eat that and go for about 5-6 hours w/o getting hungry. Besides the protein shakes what do you eat when working out?

Ali- yes it is totally possible to be too sweet! Once dh and I got married and my diet changed I have lost taste for a lot of the sweetness factor. I buy plain vanilla usually. Hardly not at all in the winter months. Candies are a big no. The girls are still begging small bits here and there that they gathered at the parade a month ago  Poor deprived little kids! :nope: lol...

Did your doc put you on a healthy diet or is this just something you feel like doing? I love spinach and kale too, and broccoli! Can you tell I'm hungry? :laugh2:

Besides the protein shakes what do you eat when working out?

Here is an example of my weekday diet:

6am - Protein drink
8:30am - eggwhite omlet with spinach, tomato, and turkey
11am - Protein drink
1pm - 1 can of tuna with brown rice, and either brocolli or green beans
3pm - a piece of fruit...I prefer strawberries but watermelon or grapes or apples will do too
6:30pm - post workout recovery protein
8:30pm - chicken breast, salmon, or tuna with a green veggie

Sometimes I skip one or two protein drinks because it feels like I am ALWAYS eating!! Lol!

Wow, Jess. This is an awesome diet! Sounds like a lot of the stuff I eat minus the tuna and protein drinks because I can't right now :sad1: I tried brown rice with dh because it is better but he doesn't care for it  I love it tho! Course you always work out so hard so you probably have to eat very often just to keep the energy you need!

Wonder why no AF yet? Have you tested at all???

I actually prefer white rice. But my body responds better to the brown rice.

I am not sure why AF hasn't showed up yet. No, I haven't tested because I have been spotting...you know, with the brown stuff. I wonder why the brown stuff comes. I also haven't had sore BBs like I normally do. It has definitely been a strange cycle. Hopefully next month I will be able to track it better. I will go by my OPK tomorrow just to make sure I have it when I need it.

Unless this is a bfp then you won't need it! :happydance: No hpt's? :nope:

Yea, but I am cramping and with all the spotting, I am certain that AF is on her way. Possibly showing up tonight before I go to bed...

I am going to see what my temp does in the morning and go from there. As much as I would LOVE LOVE LOVE a BFP, there just hasn't been a lot of :sex: going on lately. I had a migraine this month, he had bad allergy problems that made him feel like he was ill, and because of my workouts, school starting back, and his clients' new schedules, both of us have been soooo tired.
This had better change soon!! I just realized that it has been 2 weeks!! That is unacceptable!! And now it will be longer since AF is coming.

AWW.. I hate AF! She just needs to go somewhere else! If she hasn't shown up by tomorrow you really need to test :test: Some women are sure AF is about to show and then get a :bfp: Also, some women spot a lot at the beginning, the brown stuff is old blood, usually the redder it is, the newer it is. I really do think you should :test:

Coy - no 'real' diet has been suggested, I just feel really bloated and icky right now. Between the saline that was pumped into me on Friday, the injectibles and the period bloating I just feel really whale-like. So its time for me to crack down and eat properly. If I do end up pregnant, I'm going to put myself on a strict diet and hopefully lose weight during my pregnancy! I know.. crazy right? I think though if I clean up my diet, it will actually happen. I won't be starving myself, just eating the right things, and the right amounts. More than enough to sustain me and the baby, but no more crap!! IYKWIM!!

Totally normal. Dh and I have times like these. Usually one or the other or both feels crappy or exhausted...or stress from outside forces, etc. But that proves a good relationship in my opinion, when times like that crop up and you're still a strong couple. It is still so surreal to me to see my cross-the-street neighbor going around with some other lady while his wife (or ex now??) is still at home. Just totally weird. My dh and I are so close I would be shattered if he did something like that. Then I would totally do damage :haha:
But remember- as far as bd'ing...it only takes once. Isn't that what we tell the teenagers? It only takes hundreds of times if you're trying to get pg :growlmad: lol! You are a super tough lady, both physically and mentally  Glad you have a plan in action for next month already :hugs:

AFM- well, had a dinner of steamed chicken breast, green salad, ad half cup of rice....then I took a long solitary walk. Those walks I can actually gain some speed and make it count for something :haha: Got to see an awesome sunset and enjoy the cool air. Then when I got home the circus of getting kids ready for bed began! Make your bed! Put your pajamas on! Brush your teeth! Feed the dog! lol, this all takes about an hour and half! I feel like a drill sargeant

What do you mean "no more crap"? :sad1: No more good stuff, right? LOL! JK, I do know what you mean. For AF bloat I always found by cutting salt out and drinking tons of water I helped reduce water retention a lot and that helped me feel better. I still do that and feel pretty good. I felt better during my walk this evening after eating decently  I am going to try to get to bed early, get up early, take my walk, eat healthy breakfast, etc...trying to get some danged energy back! Every time I try to get back into this routine Kat has one of her "episode nights" and keeps me up til dawn. But I have been stricter so last couple nights she has been great ... Fx'd!
I know you are tired, one all the stress of last month while you were in Canada, and I am sure such high hopes. But look at it this way-- you know more now than you did then  and I honestly think tackling it head-on like you are doing is the best way :hugs: Tough on a lady though, isn't it? Not only emotionally but all the physical stuff. Why did your doc have to dilate you btw? Was he just checking stuff out or what? Will you stay dilated until ER?
