Welcome to 'Trying To Conceive Over 35'

I'm now waiting for my FS to call and let me know what my estrogen levels were, and what they want me to do for meds today and tomorrow. They may have me increase my dose, or maybe I'll just stay where I am. Not really sure what they want me to do!

I am so very tired, 3 hours of sleep, then off to my Dr's appt only to be delayed because the US Tech was stuck in traffic. Then I get out of there, and figure its only a 10 min drive to work, good! Well that 10 minutes turns into 25 because I hit EVERY light then get stuck in traffic on the highway. I get there, my computer is not responding properly and I have to reboot it to do anything. I finally get it back up and the internet goes down! I'm like really? This is ludicrous. Boss finally told us to go home and work remotely. So now I'm home and happy to be here. It means I can crawl into bed around 5 :) :yipee:

Oh wow, Ali- what a morning! :hugs: Poor lady, yes, def get some rest as soon as you can! What agreat boss to let you all go home and work remotely. What kind of work do you do remotely? answer calls? Customer support type stuff? I want your job! :haha:

So doc may want you to increase or decrease depending on your levels, right? I know this is a stressful time for you with all of the monitoring but that's how they have to do it. It will alll be worthi t! :baby:

Waiting for Chief of Police to call....he was off for a nice long 3 day weekend (the sherriff too! :growlmad:) and then in a meeting this morning. I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't wait all day to call me back. The incidient a few months ago with my neighbor made him excessively angry and I think he blames us both for it. He even turned and snapped at dh to "go ahead! Tell the mayor on me!!" LOL! :haha: Wow, he really lost it, my crazy neighbor got to him. Anyay I need to ask about the friend ofmine who "died" myseteriously and let him in on the abuses and maybe open an investigation? I think she deserves at least that much....

Just heard back from the Dr's office. They want me to increase my Bravelle dose to 4 bottles instead of 3, but keep the Menopur to 3 bottles. Sounds like he wants to see more of a response from my right ovary. It only had 4 follicles, but the left had 7. They called just in time too, as I'm supposed to do it in 15 minutes. I forgot to ask what my estrogen level was. OOPS. My brain is definitely foggy today. Can't wait for 5pm and I can go to bed. LOL.

I'm a technical analyst so a customer will call in with an issue to our support line, and the complex issues come to me to analyze, write code and fix the issue. It can be fun as its like I have a new puzzle to solve with each new assignment. It can be very stressful when we have as we currently do a huge backlog of issues, and only 2 people to fix them! Clients calling constantly for updates and they get angry when we don't do anything. So it turns out that whomever screams loudest usually gets their stuff fixed first. I'm constantly under the gun to get stuff finished yesterday. :growlmad:

Ah, so it can be a pretty stressful job even when you do get to work from home...Still, nice tohave the option, right?

I wonder why he would want the right follicle specifically? What I imagine is that your doc (man or woman?) is more interested in helping both ovaries produce to the greatest achievable. I can understand that since they are retrieving this cycle.... How do the meds make you feel? Premenstrual symptoms right? Headache, irritability, backache, tummy upset...sigh. What we women go through JUST TO HAVE KIDS lol!:haha: But as I said earlier it is worth it. My dd's can be huge butt-pains but I sure love having them around....And as a mom I have to understand their world may be a bit smaller than mine but it comes with it's own anxieties and stresses. Some days we gotta just "mom-up" lol!

AFM- well, had a sandwich for lunch, the girls have eaten, and dh is at a dental appointment...Today I don't necessarily have to do school but I do have to set up an aapointment to interview someone like a womens advocate or hospital director that offers forms of emotional therapies. Not looking forward to that but it is due next Monday so guess I better start planning.

As far as how I am feeling. Definately pregnant right now :haha: Here are some pretty typical week 33-34 symptoms:

~Tummy stretching beyond belief
~Back muscles stretching- and protesting
~Feeling of over-all fatness :haha:
~A longing for a good workout
~Little sick if I do (or don't) eat anything...
~Breathless
~Acid indigestion all on it's own (baby pushing my stuff around!)
~I am the recipient of painful sharp kicking from my infant...she likes to hit the same spot over and over :growlmad:

I am at that familiar point now where I want my body back. I want t ram and jam and run, you know? I want to be able to put on my sweat pants and go work out for a couple hours and just sweat and hyperventilate like crazy  And go box on my punching bag til my arms fall off. And be okay with it...I want to get stitches in my sides and be pleasantly exhausted and just not eat if I don't want to. And on a cold day I might drink a cold beer....

Yep. Def ready to have this baby. Few more weeks :happydance:

You are doing great. You're in the home stretch. Imagine being "over it" at 6mos?? You amaze me!

Yes, it is stressful, it didn't used to be as bad, but losing 3 people in 2 months has killed us. So trying to juggle that and the re-finance and IVF is enough to drive a sane woman  The meds are definitely playing with my mood, so is the lack of nicotine I think. I normally don't smoke during the day, but nighttime is hard. So yes, headache, backache, cramps, nausea, irritability, extreme fatigue, and now pain where I just stuck myself with the needle. I wonder if I managed to poke through the fat and hit an organ? It is stinging like crazy, and its been over 10 minutes. AHHHHH.. All I can say is thank God it is almost 5!
Yes, knowing that I might get a miracle baby out of all of this is what is keeping me sane(ish) that and knowing that the discomfort won't last forever. Course if I am pregnant, it will be replaced with a whole different set of discomforts  I just hope that it works!!!

OH, and FS was happy with the production on the left ovary, he is hoping that the right will catch up, but this extra dose of Bravelle will hit both ovaries as there is no way to single one of them out. Plus I have heard that with each successive US as they grow more and more follicles will be noticeable. That is also what happened last month. Suddenly around CD14 I had 7 follicles, when only 2 days before I had 2. So I bet that will happen again.

FirstTry...I have heard a lot about the evening primrose but not so much about vitamin B. But hey, you can bet that I am going to give it a try this coming cycle.

Jess: I found some info here, though she's not a doctor, just a woman TTC like us:
https://www.fertilityfriends.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=226042.0

DH always asks to see the scientific evidence. I did find some studies re Vitamin C and CoQ-10. Here are my notes (TCoyF = Taking Charge of your Fertility book):

- CoQ10 (in mice, increased # eggs ovulated and mitochondrial perf: https://www.livestrong.com/article/355158-coq10-fertility/)
- Vitamin B6 (TCoyF says 500mg improves CM)*
- EPO (improves CM, don't take with aspirin)
- Vitamin C (study showed increased fert in women w/ LPD: https://www.bastyrcenter.org/content/view/620/)
- Selenium (I eat a couple brazil nuts everyday, as they are loaded w/ selenium)
- Robotussin (TCoyF says 600mg/day improves CM)
- Massage & yoga (part of ancient chinese medicine, increases blood flow to repro organs)
- Acupuncture (TCoyF says in can increase fertility)

Good luck!

Thanks jm1355... maybe my story will give some of you hope... I had my daughter at 19 and then had my son at 35. I'm now 41 and decided I wanted one more :) With my son I got pregnant the first month trying but mc at 6 1/2 weeks... then again got pregnant immediately and had a fantastic pregnancy. I am now 41 and more concerned about my chances of getting pregnant and having a healthy baby but God willing it will happen for me!

I wish you luck!! By the way, my name is Jess. :hugs:

Al- when dh gives himself an insulin shot in the stomache and it stings liek crazy he said it usually is deep in the muscle. So I am guessing you got past the "fat" and hit muscle. What I hate is when he hits a vein, like in his leg, then the insulin rushes his system too fast :growlmad: It will feel betetr soon! And you're doing awesome on the smoking bit keep it up girl! Go get some chocolate or somewthing! Mmm, dove chocolate....hersheys....Lindor...:cloud9: LOL!

Can your dh go on the pump? My SIL is on it and finds it so much better.

Btw love Dove chocolate!!!

Afm, just got home from work, it's almost 7pm in NY and it's raining hard. My boobs are out of control. I wore a henley type dress and I went to Whole Paycheck (Foods) and all 3 buttons popped open and the girls were on full display. The veins are more pronounced than last night and now starting to move up the chest, arms and on the lower part of my bbs. Beyond that, cm is sticky and dry, and I'm slightly constipated. No clue what to make of any of this at 8dpo. No other symptoms, just feeling like I keep having to pee even if I just did.

Ali, Jess, Coy...you 3 are Super Women with how much you juggle and endure. I am so happy to have come across all of you on this forum. I have already learned so much invaluable info. Thank you for sharing and taking the time to impart your wisdom, trials and tribulations, humor, and most of all support. You rock! :hugs:

"My boobs are out of control."

:saywhat: LOL! You made me laugh with that comment! Man, I wish I had that problem :haha: Hmmm...8dpo? Wow, I'd def say go get a FRER and test in the morning! Do you have a Wal*Mart near where you live that sells the early results tests? I got my bfp at 9dpo...:test: lol!

Babywhisperer- BTW, my dh is not eligable for the pump because his pancreas still secretes insulin part of the time- which is great! I know, we thought maybe he would do better with it also and went through the hurdles last year...He is getting it under control more now that they have identified a few factors in his high glucose.

That's great that he can still secrete insulin. It's a full time job managing diabetes. I commend him for being on top of it.

As for the hpts...I'm afraid to test this far out. AF is due the 12th so instead of going on the emotional roller coaster I'm going to try and wait until next week and see how the symptoms go...if the symptoms stay like this I am doubtful. If they start to multiply then I will be encouraged. I was just disappointed last cycle when I had headaches, cramps, dark brown spotting, back aches, nausea only to get BFNs and AF showed. I'm chicken, I know.

No, not a chicken :hugs: Just nromal! I was liek that too but found the testing gave me aboost ocassionally...then when I'd get a bfn I'd get irritated and think "maybe tomorrow" I was stunned when "tomorrow" was a bfp! So I got my fx'd for you! :)

Tanks lady! I'm going to try and not test until the 12th, but I know me...and me might break down this weekend. Sunday will be 13dpo so that will be my earliest poas. So do you think prominent veins could be a bfp sign, or is it common with AF too?

I only ever got the prominant veins with pregnancy...never with Af  That's oine thing that made me wonder in your case. Not a guarentee but sure makes this symptom spotting interesting! I wish you had a chart to watch :sad1: LOL!

BaByWhisperer.. I agree with Coy.. sounds like pregnany signs to me! Veins popping out on boobs and them growing like that.. well that is a top early sign. Have the aereolas darkened at all? What about the absence of symptoms you normally have leading up to AF?

9dpo is probably a little early for testing, but 13dpo is very reasonable!

Can't wait to hear if you are!!!

Hya Ali! :hi: Fancy meeting you on here this late at night :smug: You are SUPPOSED to be sleeping :growlmad: Did you at least take a nap at 5 pm??

Wow, one more week to your ER! Bet you are getting excited :hugs: Have you picked out somebody to drive yout o and from the hospital? Will it be outpatient or do you have to stay a night?

Oh, btw, I have recently re-discovered my Michael Jackson greatest hits cd :cloud9: You all should have seen my dd's dancing it up today! They were winded and exhausted by the time I turned the music off! Some things in this world never change. :) "Beat It", "Thriller" and "Billy Jean" were - naturally- their favorites. I had to laugh at them. :haha: They must get their moves form their papa (he won dancing competitions, a regular John Travolta :growlmad:) Whereas I can't dance a single step  My parents told me "fun is dumb" lol! so I never learned. Funy how little kids are naturals!
