Welcome to 'Trying To Conceive Over 35'

Dang I forgot to update...no bd last night, hopefully yesterday morning, Sat & Sun were sufficient. So my question, I took my temp at 5am and it was 98.12 and I had to get up to pee. I went back to sleep until 6:30 and my temp then was 98.53. What temp should I put in my chart? Since yesterday I didn't temp but the day before was 97.75, how am I looking for having ovulated, yes or no?

I bet the BD'ing on Sat and Sun was perfect timing for you!! You should go with your first temp. The second temp is significantly higher than the first, probably because you got up.

Thanks lady! How are you this lovely morning? How are you feeling?

I'm feeling pretty good this morning. I was up and at the gym at 4am! Then I came home and took a nap. Now I am finishing up some work on my thesis. I took off work all week so I could finish my literature review. I am supposed to graduate in December.
I'm hoping and praying to be celebrating graduation and a BFP by then! :)

~Jess

4am? Wow...I'd need a nap after that too? What time do you go to bed? You will kick ass don't worry. You will graduate, and a lot of the stress will be behind you...then bam, you'll be preggers. You will be one amazing prego mama. You remind me of my friend who was rock climbing, doing a 10k, traveling all thru 7mos prego. Not much stops you or her. I'm in awe. I did chest, triceps and back on Monday...you should've seen me trying to put on a bra this morning. I couldn't put my arms behind my back to clasp it! I know getting back into it is the hardest part...gotta keep going! Just wish I had a routine or a plan. I might get P90X or something. I am the kind of person who needs to know what I am doing before I get to the gym and keep notes of how many reps, the weight...to see how I am progressing.

Maybe I can help...I was a personal trainer and aerobics instructor for a LONG time! If you need me, just let me know... :)

Really? I was going say you train enough to be your own trainer. Do you use an outside trainer just to push yourself then? I know when I've used trainers in the past they always get me to do those last 3 reps, or come up with inventive exercises like that damn torture device the Vipr. Omg! Ideally I would go back to my trainer but he is a fortune, as all Equinox trainers are. That's why I was thinking P90X since it's a program. I have a better chance of sticking with it if it's laid out on a weekly basis. What kind of training did or do you do for other people? Can I just attach a hose and siphon off all that you know? It's hard to decipher what is right with all the info out there. It's confusing...hi reps, low weight, push one day pull the other, HIIt only, using no weights orjust your body weight, cardio before or cardio after? it's maddening.

TwoToGo...

Sounds like times are a bit tough...but only if you worry. I know it is hard not to worry about things, especially finances and putting food on the table for your family. But you are a child of God! Remeber what he said about worrying about tomorrow...

Matthew 6:25-34...
25 “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? 26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27 Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life[a]?

28 “And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. 29 Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. 30 If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith? 31 So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

I'm praying for you and your family. I wish there was more that I could do...but with you living all the way in Nebraska and me in Texas...hmmmm...:hugs:

Thank you, Jess! I needed that reminder. I think I'm just so hormonal and emotional right now that I can't see straight. I need to get ahold of myself!

TwoToGo-

No, you are not being rediculous! This economy sucks! I am in a similar situation, I have $9.00 and have to make til next Monday, so...5 more days. But I tell it to my family cut and dried. They eat what I fix or they are OUT! :haha: Yes, eggs are a very good cheap protein...what I do to anticipate if this happens is when I find great buys on meat (etc) at the store I try to stock up some. Maybe it is not what everyone prefers but it is protein and that's all that matters. This month I was able to stock up on pork steaks for like 4.90 a pack  we're talking robably 8 steaks in each pack. Chicken here used to be $7 and the grocer decided to pop it up to $14 so I simply refuse to buy it. Bread I can get (and it's good bread for some odd reason) for $1.50 so I get two at a time rather than spending 4.99 on one  I really really have to budget grocery money like you were saying you are having to do. What kind of stores do you have near you? I would kill (ok, I wouldn't kill, but I would do something drastic :haha:) to have something like a WalMart or WinCo near here. Only one grocer and he is a tyrant in this little town :growlmad: I mean come ON- they used to sell these super cheap loaves of bread for like .85 - he popped it up to 1.20 just to make people buy it ! Jerk. :growlmad:

And I found it helps to make a weeks worth of meal planning- forget what everyone is asking for and tell them straight they will eat healthy and well but they have to eat what you fix or spend a few days going hungry this month.

Tips:

try to avoid fresh and frozen dinner veggies- canned is generally cheaper by $1.00 something each serving.

Avoid things like pop tarts, granola, etc, as it jumps sugar then plummets- which leaves your kids hungry in an hour  I simply refuse to buy them even when the kids beg for it..

Stock up an fillers with high protein, e.g., eggs, meat, etc. Cheese is expensive so always wait until a sale is on.

Sandwich meat is a good choice when it goes on sale I buy a ton of it and freeze it. The girls like when I chop up sandwich ham in their scrambled eggs- good protein, cheap,e asy, etc.

Rice is a good carb, don't buy the minute pre-made stuff, too expensive. I bought a rice cooker and it cooks raw rice in 20 minutes! Potatoes are great for kids- they fill them up and lastting energy plus only about 5.00 for 15 pounds or so--they last.

Salad is cheap but don't buy the pre-made stuff, just get heads of lettuce, cheap tomoatoes, etc...

I could go on forever ranting about the cost of groceries! :haha: Oh and when the fam gets a sweet tooth I go get one of those package cakes for .99 and bake that....it lasts several days, sweet tooth is gone, and I don't have to spend 4.00 on cookies or something :growlmad:

As for this week for you....do you have rice? Any veggies? You can make a stir fry rice with a couple scrambled eggs that will stretch a whole meal for the family rather than just one person. What kind of milk did you buy? Whole? If it is whole just add ice water to it your kids'll never notice  Even 2% this works once in a while especially with cereals. Hm...oh yeah. Forget options- the other day I asked my daughter what kind of jam she wanted on her toast; strawberry, raspberry or orange? She answers back "Grape!" Aaaaargh!! No matter what when you give them options they are going to try to make you stretch :) So I try to be generous with healthy cheap stuff and the sweet and treats- very limited and controlled. :hugs:

TwoToGo I was in a rush this morning, and on my iPhone so I couldn't really respond properly. I think that one of the most important things for a couple to feel is that they are on the same page and connected on the things that matter. It sounds like you and your DH are having a few troubles in this arena at the moment. Nothing serious, but it sounds like you definitely need to sit down with him and discuss the issues. Don't let them fester! Maybe running out of food is what your DH needs to see, then he'll be more apt yo heed your words. I bet your DH feels like you are a miracle worker and you will pull an extra loaf or bread or fish out of thin air, and all will be well. Probably because you usually do, (well figuratively not literally).

Coy had some great ideas on how to stretch a dollar and feed lots of mouths. I am a huge fan of rice too. It is cheap and filling and you can do a lot with it! I often make vegetable fried rice, and you can use 1-2 eggs and lots of vegetables if you have them, and there is a good meal. I have also done a lot with rice and beans. I too have a rice cooker and not only does it make perfect rice, it is sooooo easy! I will use a can of broth to make the rice have some flavor, and dump in a can of black bean (or kidney) that I've drained. A hearty meal with some protein from the beans, and also very inexpensive. I don't do it because I'm single and it would take me a year to go through it all, but buying in bulk when meats are on sale is also a great way to save $$. Simply get a family pack of chicken drumsticks or whatever is on sale, and then I would freeze them in smaller packages. When I was in college and had 3 roommates, we'd share the meat purchases, and we had one of those vacuum sealer things, and would use those to pack the meats individually. Man was that ever awesome and there was no waste. Course you wouldn't have to freeze them individually, you could do them in packs to feed your family. I'm not sure I would go to the extent of using canned vegetables, simply because they tend to be 'cured' in salt and lose a lot of their nutritional content. Frozen is better (the same as fresh nutritionally) and way cheaper than fresh. Just do the same with your veggies as you do with your meats, and stock up when stuff is on sale. Course you need to have a good sized freezer to live this way, but it might be worth the investment, maybe you can find a cheap chest freezer where you found the washing machine? I too wish there was something I could do, but alas I'm in FL, and that is a long way from Nebraska.

OK so to elaborate more on this morning...

I do not think I saw a BFP this morning, it is possible, but I think I need to wait until tomorrow and see what I see then. What I saw was so faint I'm not sure if its real, I think my eyes are playing tricks on me. Plus it is just so important to me.

I cried myself to sleep last night. I was so distraught  I was literally wailing for about 30 minutes. Rough night. Then I had a horrible dream/nightmare. My doggies were being attacked and there was blood running down my legs and on my white shirttail (I was wearing a huge oversized shirt with leggings) and I couldn't get to my doggies to save them and I took my temp and it was 94.6. I was devastated in the dream, it was like I was losing everything that mattered to me. When I woke up I felt like a truck had run over me, or more aptly like I was hung over. My body was lethargic, my head was hurting and foggy, and I thought I was going to be sick. When I was at the store I was walking down the aisles looking at food, and I couldn't find one thing that I wanted to eat! I finally settled on mac & cheese, it seemed to be the least threatening. That and 1 Mexican coke (they call it that because it is made there and is made with real sugar instead of high frutcose corn syrup). I know, I'm not supposed to have caffeine, but that was the only thing that my body wanted at that moment. I've been sipping the coke and it is making me feel a little better.

What do you all make of this?

What do I make of it?

I think you're pregnant :haha: Classic symptoms hon-

1) Vivid dreams
2) Wanting things you shouldn't have (e.g., COKE :growlmad:, naughty Ali))
3) Crazy emotions

Plus what you described about your possible bfp test is called "line-eye" and we all get it :haha: I'd love to see a pic! :happydance: I get line eye better than anybody else :smug: lol

Great ideas on groceries btw...and I agree 100% on the veggies, I dislike using canned but I will in a pinch- like now for instance  But I usually stock up on frozen and I love the steamer packs :cloud9: And I stock up on oat for hot cereal, etc etc....I would love to get a freezer too, all we have is the fridge-top freezer and it's def too small!

Oh, I was going to ask- are you at work? Because the added stress of having to go IN to work makes you feel just crappy too, at least it did me.

Wow, $1.20 for a loaf of bread? We have Walmart, and our cheapest loaf is $1.84. That's why I make my own. I stock up on unbleached flour over the holidays when it's on sale and store it in my freezer. Our milk is somewhere between $4-5 dollars per gallon, and that's 2%. Don't know why things here are so expensive. They say it's the cost of shipping since we live in such an unpopulated area. We are lucky that we live so close to a grocery store. It's only 22 miles away. I have a friend who has to travel 60 miles to go to the nearest grocery store.

You have some great ideas! Thank you for sharing them :flower:

Jess- yes, I thought about the bath long and hard and decided to skip it  I'll talk to my doc first. I wasn't planning on using soaps in it just a warm soaker bath... I am glad you managed to egt a week off to focus on your school  that will help alleviate some stress for you for sure! I know you want to relax this month, re: bfp symtoms, but I will stress for you! :haha: I'm gonna go stalk your chart here in a minute......

Ali- how are you feeling at this point? Aside from totally  lol! The tww is a killer and I know you have put everything you've got into this. You're a tough lady and I know God will bless you :hugs: Be careful with the coke though...that's stuff is addictive! :haha: Coke does seem to help settle the tummy though- but 7-Up helps too once in a while, especially if it's iced. I found when I got ms though that anything carbonated was awful :nope:

All you ladies! :hi:

AFM-

I skipped the bath last night BUT I did manage to scrub the bathroom from top to bottom, rearrange everything in there, and got all new towels set up, and a nice rose candle....then I ate tomatoe soup and went to bed :haha: LOL! I know the sodium is bad but I rarely have it and didn't feel up to anything heavy, plus I skipped dinner again  Anyway I wanted the bath because I anticipated muscle problems and boy was I right! I had these horrible leg cramps, one woke me up this morning! :haha: My calves are super sore now...all part and parcel I guess  Anyway, I was worried about the bath what with dilation and all...

Today--I am trying to decide what to do. Dh and I have been working together on the house. basically eliminating all of the stuff we don't need just to simplify everything. I mean, cleaning a coffee table is so much easier when you don't have to move 20 books, 2 candles, 5-6 toys, remote controls, etc etc... The dd's are our biggest challenge. Like this morning. They walked in to the newly arranged bathroom- all of their tub toys now had a little wooden toy box tucked neatly in the corner, a new trash can, sink all scrubbed and toy/clutter-free...and they grabbed up the toy box and tipped it upside down and spread toys all over the place! Then wanted to walk out. Dh talked to them this time :haha: So today I think I will focus on the garage. Well, that's my plan anyway.

TwoToGo- I love to bake bread! I grew up doing it that way, I was rural in Alaska and we baked everything....If I wanted fresh bread for breakfast I would whip up a quick batch. Mmm and it is soo much better! I miss it :cloud9: I have an electric oven though :( so it seems to make baking things kind of difficult. Very different from our old wood burning kitchen stove!

Ali, you are right. We do need to sit down and get on the same page and discuss (with civility, unlike this morning ) both finances and my schedule. Things seem to be fine now, but we haven't really talked it out or settled it. Hard to do when kids are around 24/7...

TwoToGo- I was going to ask (I forget BABY BRAIN lol) how many children do you have and what ages? So far I just have the two then one on the way. Teagen is 7 (8 this October) and Kat is 3.5 :)

And tell me about it! Dh and I have to reserve our private conversations for past bedtime then we have to whisper or they come pounding in!! lol

I have two. They are 14 year old boy/girl twins. They are so much fun, but BDing and serious conversation can be difficult. We send them to the park occassionally. :winkwink:

All you ladies! :hi:

Hey Coy!

Glad you didn't have the bath, that might have been bad from the sounds of things. How are you feeling? Is babes still kicking up a storm?

I'm feeling a little better now. My headache is gone thanks to the miracle of tylenol, but nothing else is really any better. My stomach is still unhappy, and I still feel out of sorts, groggy. Like my head won't focus, and my body feels like jello or something, like its an effort to lift them? Very strange. Just feel off. Could have been the bad sleep I got? Well I know I was sleeping because I had that horrible dream, but I didn't wake feeling rested at all.

I really just need to see that :bfp: once I see that I will relax and just not stress about every symptom and what it means and whether I'm pregnant or not. I'll just go with it. Right now its torturous!

I did have a long chat with God last night, before my crying  meltdown. We discussed why having a baby is so totally important to me, and my feelings about raising a child in today's society and how strongly I feel about raising that child in the arms of the church as I was. I hope he heard my prayers, and will grant me this child.

Ali, that is how I felt when I was pregnant with my twins. Like it was such an effort to lift anything. As soon as I got home from work, I would lay on the couch all evening because it's the only thing I could do. I have a good feeling about this

Ali- Yep, He heard you! It's those one-on-one talks that really get His attention! I seriously think you're prego though as all of your symptoms are there- but I can't tell because you didn;t post the pic! :growlmad: LOL, jk, I know it can be a pain sometimes, but I AM addicted to poas...even if it's not mine :)

BabyWhisperer
- I think you timed things perfectly this month...No worries on not bd'ing yesterday...:spermy: lives in your cervix (especially with all the ewcm!) for up to 5-6 days waiting so you're good to go

Of course HE heard your prayers!! :winkwink: Mark 11:24....don't forget it!! And remember, He said ALL things are possible thru Christ...but he did not say it would be easy... Just hang in there and remember the promises you made to HIM! I believe the Golden Rule applies to our relationship with God as well as people here on earth. We have to treat God the way we want him to treat us. His Word says "Delight yourself in the Lord and he will grant you the desires of your Heart." Well, then do it!! Delight yourself in Him! So, if we want him to do his part (granting our desires) then we have to do our part (delighting ourselves in him).
Whew! Sorry...didn't know I was going to deliver a sermonette! Lol!

OMG my kids are fighting again! Who wants them? Ali? Jess? Twotogo? Babywhisperer? LOL! Skip the cute baby stage and go straight to rotten ornery kids!

O my heck, I love them but they try my patience! They fight over toys which is a no-no so I am going to go take them away :growlmad: We have a rule-- you fight, you lose, Mom wins :haha:
