Welcome to 'Trying To Conceive Over 35'

That'd be awesome for you Baby! A year long break from AF :cloud9: And your bfp to boot!

K, ladies, I am now designing my daughters 8th brthday cake...Any ideas? I decorate myself as the store here was $25.00 for a stupid sheet cake! I am not paying that when I can pay $5.00 max for a whole big cake. She wants a super fudgy chocolate cake that is decorated somehow. So I am thinking a three tier cake and I am trying to determine what to decorate it with... Her b-day is on the 6th so not too far away! I gotta think of something little girl-ish but not baby-ish iykwim....NUTS! :growlmad: lol

I got my fx'd for you Baby!!

Re: the b-day cake...Hmm, I was thinking a layered look like cake that is decorated like presents stacked atop one another, e.g., one layer a bright light green with huge pink polka dots, next layer a light bright pink with small yellow polka dots, and top layer a light bright yellow with green spirals...I am thinking of using Necco candies for the big polks dots and tropical skittles as tiny polka dots :headspin:. Then frosting beads along the edge and a huge colorful bow on top. Sound okay? I am thinking at 8 she's not a baby anymore so dolly stuff is probably out and she's not quite a big BIG girl so cutey stuff is still okay...worry and stress worry and stress! :haha:

I think that sounds like a great idea!

I understand all about goals..you'll get your projects done, knowing you  You already have a doggie-sitter-- just gotta pack right? You'll be gone a week or so? Dang is it cost-effective to just fly?

Morning ladies! Feeling not so hot...like a combo of af coming early and head cold brewing...eyes burn, head feels pressure, a tiny bit of post nasal drip (yummy) and my temp dipped from 98.81 yesterday to 98.55, maybe even lower b/c I was tossing and turning a lot. I am cd24, 8dpo and I wouldn't be surprised if af came early like tomorrow or Thurs. Bbs are starting to get fuller but not real tenderness or soreness. Feel that pre-af slight churning feeling.

How is everyone else? Coy how did you sleep? Ali did your headache go away?

Baby - Maybe it's an implantation dip.

AFM - Still not feeling well today. Trying to eat breakfast to keep my blood sugar up, but I'm really not all that interested. Don't know if it's still after effects of tummy virus or what. Headache, sore itchy boobs, achey hips, crampy -all either signs of AF or pregnancy. I wish the signs were very opposite of each other so we would have more of a clue.

I have a job interview tomorrow, so I'm praying that goes well. When she called yesterday, she said that there are two companies that they are looking to hire me on with. I'm taking that to mean that the HR position is probably not going to happen, but I am interested to see what they have.

Today my kids start homeschool basketball practice, so we will be going into town for most of the day while they practice. I enjoy this time because it gives hubby and I about 3 hours of time to spend together.

I wish I could believe that, but no real or localized cramping, just that pre-af dull churn, no spotting, cm was watery yesterday but stickier today. Your signs however, scream bfp. When is af due? Job stuff sounds promising, you get the one you are meant to get!

I think AF is due on Saturday. Unfortunately, my body has screamed BFP before and it hasn't happened. I don't think I trust my body anymore. :haha:

Thanks girl! The cake sounds awesome! She will love it I am sure...esp since it will be a 1 of a kind!

I know how you feel. Af is due anywhere from tomorrow to Sunday. I am cd 24 8dpo and I am starting to cramp on my right side, feels like pre-af.

Hey Everyone!

TwoToGo and BabyWhisperer - Praying that AF stays away and you get your :bfp:

Coy - can you make me a cake too? :haha: My Mom is terrible when it comes to baking. It is because she doesn't take the recipe and follow it directly. So she'll omit the salt, or lessen the amount of oil/lard/butter etc. Those things you just can't omit! It isn't like cooking you know? The knows she isn't baker, so she just goes to the store to get a cake. Which is fine, because I get my carrot cake! We'll probably celebrate my B-day on the 6th too. Since we'll probably be closing the cottage on Monday, having to winterize it for the winter, and celebrating will just create a big mess!

AFM - Spoke with the Dr and the nurse, and then the admin person, and we got all of the pieces and parts figured out. So the Dr went back and forth on the different protocols, and finally decided that the original protocol was just fine. He said that for my age and so on, that the number and quality of my eggs was amazing. :saywhat: I questioned him on this, because I didn't think only getting 15 eggs and only having 7 of them fertilize should be considered amazing. He said that well yes, we will be changing things so that we get probably about the same number of eggs but that they would all be mature. That is what I was unaware of. Apparently only 11 of the 15 were mature. So then of the 11 only 7 fertilized. This is slightly better odds. So he is aiming for about 15 eggs and for all of them to be mature, and hopefully we'll get more like 12 to fertilize. The reason he said my eggs were awesome/amazing is that by 3 days past transfer all had made it to 7 cells and 5 of them to 8 cells and there was less than 10% fragmentation. Again, great results. It was between days 3 and days 5 that the embryos started to degrade, and only 2 survived. He said that at this phase it is the sperm that is responsible for the growth and in this instance he didn't feel like the quality of the sperm was high enough. So he has suggested that I pick a different donor  I loved my donor! So I will be spending the next week or 2 ferreting out a new donor. Otherwise, the protocol will be very similar. They are going to adjust the timing and dose of the meds a little bit to get the follicles to develop at the same pace, so we will have higher quality mature eggs. He said fine to the Royal Jelly and the CoQ10, that he figured it can't hurt. I also mentioned that this time around I will have been a non-smoker for 3 months and plan on getting back to the gym. So all of these changes should improve the quality of the eggs, and with a new sperm donor, hopefully the results will be a :baby: or 2! He also thinks that we should only go as far as day 3 instead of day 5, and implant 3 embryos using the assisted hatching. Then the other embryos (if there are any will be grown to day 5) and frozen at that point in time. They are decreasing the price an additional 5%, taking 1/3 off the ICSI costs, and giving me about $1000 of meds for my treatment. All in all its about a $4000 discount, between the meds and the decrease in costs. I think I can also get 2 vials of 'IVF' quality sperm for less too, as the IFV quality sperm only have 5M sperm in them. AHHH.. I am not looking forward to finding Mr. Right again! It was so hard the first time!!!

Maybe I will have to enlist your help! :haha: I can get a login to their website, and then share it with you and you can search too!

Back to Coy.. you haven't mentioned how you are feeling? Any more pre-labor type pains? I feel like your DD's rolling their eyes at you because you can't make baby come NOW!

At least you don't have to go out on a bunch of dates with the sperm to find out that they are cheap, rude to waiters, don't call you back, or expect you to put out on the 1st date...well actually :winkwink: Sorry, trying to create some levity in what I am sure is a grueling process. Do sperm have like Match.com profiles??? I'd help you "shop".

Btw my Mom makes bomb carrot cake with homemade cream cheese frosting, it's ridic!

Yes, it is exactly like Match.com!!! I'm currently looking at the California CryroBank. They also suggested Fairfax. I want to look at their services first, and see if I want to try either of these companies or stick with Xytex. Only thing is that I've paid for the premium membership at Xytex and saw all of their pictures. I'm not sure I want to pay for their membership again, as I'm sure their stock hasn't changed that much. I want fresh meat!! OMG, I kill myself sometimes. Picking out sperm is such a bizarre thing!

I'll let you know when I've figured out which company I think looks best, and then get the premium membership, and will share the pw so you guys can look too! Selection of sperm can be a group effort! HAHA!!

So I'm leaning towards Fairfax, at the moment, it seems to be better at genetic testing, and gives more to you for free, and in most instances you get adult pictures too! I also like the fact that they keep in touch with the donors and update their medical history on the 'free' portion of the site. Plus they have a recipient forum where siblings can meet, etc. I think that it would be a good thing to have those kinds of options open to the child (open id on the donor) and the potential for meeting siblings if they so choose.

Re: love your donor no more! He's a bum! :haha: Wow, the donor sperm could have been an issue?!~ :saywhat: I KNEW it! Leave it to MEN :growlmad: LOL! JK! Anyway, what are you considering then? I have heard that freezing can affect the quality of the sperm...what about one of your "wickedly handsome" potential fresh specimen donors? Would your FS consider that? Wow, something about a :spermy: hunt seems awesome to me, I wish I could help, so YES! Please enlist me ! :haha: Seriously I would love browsing their site. Something very primal and powerful about that hunt :haha: Why does your FS think only go so far as day 3 instead of 5? Doesn't the 2 extra days improve things or at least let you know which eggs are top notch?

Re: my symptoms. :nope: lol! Let's see..increased cm discharge, very thick, which is normal for cerbical secretion at this point. My hips are killing me, it feels like they are straining out of socket- that's from babes pushing down and the prolactin relaxing my muscles so that I can spread as babes comes out. When I walk my cervix - yes, RIGHT THERE - feels extremely heavy pressure and like it is cranking open which makes me waddle and grunt! :haha: LOL! It is hard not to grunt but I do make an effort  My doc called today to see how I am doing and even Grampa called to see if I had the baby yet  All this pressure...JK! I love the fact that there are people who actually care enough to ask! :cloud9: Feels like a real family :hugs: Um, extreme vacating of bowels (sorry, tmi) which is a symptom of impending labor, insomnia, vivid dreams when I do sleep.....I can't wait to get this done and over with and our babes home! :hugs:

Dh has been doing his part to, um, encourage labor :haha: Certain, ehhhh, things a fella can do to help start that up

Ali, I think you have an awesome plan for this time around,t he extra care your doc is putting into this is amazing too :hugs: So let's concentrate on excellent sperm quality this time around! I am super proud of you for the quitting smoking, etc, it really does help a ton! You baby(s) will thank you! :hugs:

 You guys are getting X-rated! Down girls! Adult as in not a baby picture! Not Magic Mike inspired!!! :hehe: Although, I wonder why schlong length and girth is not a requirement? If I have a male child that would be important, right? Oh man.. I'm bad!

I don't know if I want any of my male friends to do the deed. They all have qualities I don't feel should be reproduced! Is that terrible to say? Plus as we aren't married, being tied to that person for the rest of my life, having them be part of the child's life, not sure I'm up for that. People do get pregnant with donor sperm, I think I just have to pick a younger more virile dude! My young stud! :haha:

Yikes, Ali, I hope I didn't offend you with my question- I sure didn't mean too! I am wondering by adult pics do you mean pictures of the men as they look today or pictures of their special contributing parts? I am not trying to be offensive but as cynical and jaded as I can be at 37 I am still vastly naive...:( Humor my idiocy :)
