Welcome to 'Trying To Conceive Over 35'

Coy, looking at that pic, you must be finding it really difficult to move around, it looks like she'll just slide out soon. Ouch! Hopefully when she does finally arrive, it'll be nice and quick for you and of course, virtually pain free.

Ali, so glad you're starting to feel yourself again. So, do the donor sites only show pics of the donors when they were kids then? Odd!

Two2go, I hope you can get an appointment sorted out, it sounds like you need some reassurance. I hope its nothing serious. :hugs:

Everyone else :hi:

Everyone else :hi:

Sorry about your the rudeness you had! I hate it when they are like that. It's like.. :hi: this is MY blood and don't you think I have a right to know what tests you are running on MY blood? Doctors are getting to be much better about that down here. They know not to pull that crap on me. I want to know what they are doing and why and I will question them about it (not that I don't necessarily agree), but I want to make sure it sounds right to me. You know?

Yes, I am still finding that I just run out of steam here and there. Like now. I ran out to see the podiatrist because I seem to have gotten plantar faschitis (sp) but its a bone spur in my heel that is causing shooting pain in and basically crippling me. He gave me a shot of cortisone, and OMG it is good as new. He wants me to do some exercises and ice it, and go back to see him in a week. After that I ran to the store, and got gas and came home, and now I want a nap! Unfortunately I have to work until 9 now. ARGH.

I joined Fairfax Cryobank for $185 for 1 month, but if I get a vial from them, then I get $100 off (so then it only cost me $85 for the membership). They allow you to see childhood photos included in that cost, along with a lot of other things. Then if you want more photos (adult and in-between) it is more money to purchase that. So I'm going to narrow it down using the information I have included in the $185 cost, then probably purchase the adult/lifespan photos for the 1-2 people that I think are my best options. I posted one of the childhood pictures the other day. It is so difficult to pick! Maybe I just need to stop overthinking it! :dohh:

Cheers!

Just popping in to say :hi: everyone!

Ali...I love how you are so certain about your plan. It makes me excited for you!!

Coy...is baby coming yet?? <crickets chirping>

Terri, BabyWhisperer, Alin, Baby...what's going on?

AFM...had spotting this weekend... Booo! And now I have a lower backache that is very irritating. I've never had it as an AF symptom, but I read online that lower back pain is one of many PMS symptoms.
But, the good news is that I got a cup of decaf :coffee: this morning!! I get decaf every other day now. And I still haven't got a headache from lack of caffeine. :happydance:
...oh, and I am ALMOST finished with my paper!! I have ot turn in my first completed draft this Thursday!! I am so excited!! While we have a number of Bachelors degrees in our family, I will be the first to get a masters. And I have over 27 first cousins! (my dad is the second oldest of nine children...) I hope I motivate them to move forward with their education too!!

Jess!

Thanks.. I'm not sure I'm certain about my plan.. I just feel better having one! It is like a security blanket. If I stick to the plan then I will succeed. At least that is what I'm thinking. Only thing that is driving me bonkers is that I have to WAIT :coffee: I am a very impatient person, so waiting and me do not mix.

I am so very proud of you! WOW! What an achievement to get your Masters!!! :happydance: I bet you are super excited to be at the tail end of that. All that studying and writing your thesis. OMG I remember doing that for my Bachelors (yep they made us write mini-theses), I cannot even imagine having to write a full sized thesis. So yes, I am very proud of you!!! CONGRATS!!!

So tired right now.. could take a nap, but alas I'm working.

Also, the debate tonight is happening about 15 mins from my house, and let me tell you I am happy I am working from home. I bet the roads (interstate) will be a mess as the President flies in and Romney flies in and they do rolling road blocks, and yuck. I'm glad they are having the debate in FL, but man.. it is causing all sorts of issues for us locals!!

Ali, not knowing what the blood test is for is partly my fault, I should have asked doc when he referred me to the Phleb, but I was too excited that he actually agreed to do something that I forgot to ask. I don't think the Phleb actually know, they're just told to take the blood, label it and send it off.

Plantar fasciitis - I think I have this too. I get really bad pains just under my heel, usually first thing in the morning or when I get up after sitting for long periods. As is normal with me, I haven't done anything about it though.

I guess with the pics, you know you want someone blonde, which will show as a child. The most important thing is that the donor is healthy etc. I'm sure you'll pic the right one. Have you spoken to the company that provided the last donor's :spermy: as I would ask for some sort of compensation if others have been unsuccessful on numerous occasions too as from what you were saying, he was a popular donor. I wonder if they could tell you if his :spermy: has been successful for others or not. I mean, you are out of pocket because his little men didn't do the job right?

Ahh.. well hopefully the Dr is doing the right blood work! I'm assuming he'll do the standard hormone panel, including thyroid, and see how things look. They have an idea of what each of these things should be depending on where you are in your cycle. Our Dr's here like to do it on day 3 of your cycle because they have standardized the test to look at what your levels are on this day. Course that doesn't mean that the blood drawn any other day of the month won't help too. How many DPO are you? If you are around 6-9DPO they will be able to tell if you ovulated. That would be a good thing to know :)

Yes, that is exactly how plantar faschitis feels. Only I tend to have it all day long :( I sit a lot for work, so whenever I get up it is horribly painful. He gave me some exercises to do. You could try them? First is take a water bottle, freeze it, and then every morning roll it under my foot from heel to toe and back until it is unfrozen, then at night stand on a stair, but only on the ball of your foot, then lower your foot a little then raise it and back. This strengthens the muscle and helps get the pain to go away. In the mean time it is cortisone shots for me, which helps with the swelling which then stops the pain. So hopefully with these 3 things my heel will stop bugging me and I can get back to walking, and I'd like to get back to the gym too.

I will probably do some more searching tonight. I am not fond of their website, it is not very well designed. The original site I used xytex was better, but not perfect. I have thought about calling them to find out what they could do to help me financially, I mean I paid almost $5000 for :spermy: but I'm not sure that they will be able to do much, unless I pick another donor from their site. I bet they would give me a free one? It might be worth the try, but then I'd probably have to pay another $150 to see the pictures and stuff for their donors again too! I'll give them a call, maybe they will give me free :sperm: that would be very cool!

I think the tests were mainly to help determine if I still have PCOS or Fibroids, I don't think they're for much more than that at the moment to be fair as I think thats the sort of thing I would get tested for once I was referred to a Fertility Specialist and GP told me that I would have to have been trying for 2 years before he could do the referral.

I think Xytex should give you free viewings and free :spermy: Just my opinion of course, but like you've said, you paid a lot for a defective product really.

I have downloaded some information on a Fertility clinic about 5 minutes drive from my house to have a look at, you can get referred there by a GP, FS or self referral. Of course, Self referral would be completely private, which would cost a lot, no prices quoted, strangely enough! Referral from GP or FS could be paid for initially by NHS. We don't have insurance the way some of you guys do, we pay for it via the Government collecting money from our Salaries etc.

Babydust- so you are- what?- 6DPO today? Do you plan on testing around 10-12 dpo or just wait it out until Halloween? As far as temping....if your house is really cold and you get cold that can have an affect...but if you are sleeping deep and the house is comfy and you test as soon as you wake it should be accurate. As long as you aren't literally freezing (although a cold house can make your temp seem a touch lower) should be good to go  I'm not sure on the advanced FF btw- I think they offer more in regard to comparing your chart with others, doing overlays of your past charts with current- etc.

Terry- what a "B" that phlebotomist was! No one gives a crap about her car :growlmad: You can always call your doc and get the test info from the assistant, right? That's what I would do....Do you know when to expect the results back? Thanks by the way for the "virtually pain free" :haha: That'd be awesome!

Ali-- hope you don't mind me saying, but...Sonuvab@#$!! You got a cortisone shot in your foot! Yikes! :argh: I'd go through labor first :haha: Sounds horrible, I got issues with folks messing with my feet and especially a cortisone shot. Did it hurt? Oh yeah..re: over thinking your sperm donor..no, thinking is good! I think it is good if you want specific coloring, etc (although it's never a guarantee ..genetics, you know :)) but most important I think is the genetic medical history, intelligence, etc....and the fact that pregnancy has resulted from his :spermy:.(P.S....what debate? Is there another debate I didn't know about???)

Jess- I am so excited for you to get your Masters! I understand the feeling, I am so driven at this point...I am nearly finished with my bachelors I can't wait to get started on my Masters! I am the first in my family to get a college degree period...I am feeling small with my little Associates at the moment! :haha: Gimme a few years, lol! I can't wait to see your grad pics! :happydance: Re: your chart...you are still waaaay over your cover line...you would think if this was the evil :witch: your temps would have dropped super low below the line  I know they have stayed up before though--but no full flo, huh? Odd. Do you normally spot for 3-4 days before? I usually did for like 1 day then normal flow for maybe 2 then 1 more day of spotting (tmi, sorry) but that was it. O my heck though, you are 10 dpo, I'd suggest testing but I don't want any added stress for you (I'd be chewing my nails off by now and you are soooo cool about it! :haha:) Yay for the "no caffeine headaches" :happydance: They are a bugger when you get them.

AFM- Aeryn is s.t.u.b.b.o.r.n. LOL! Aargh, my hips are sore and stiff! I feel rusty if that is possible....Tons of vaginal pressure just no baby yet (on the outside). Crap, I am now 3 days overdue! :dohh: lol! Shows what I know :haha: It's gotta be soon though...right? lol!

Today I am planning on saying to "heck" with being so careful about everything and I am going into the back yard and chopping wood :growlmad: Gonna do something physical I enjoy, I am getting abit "cooped up" in this body tbh...I will use our log splitter though (my 3 year old insists as she doesn't want me to hurt the baby by swinging an axe :haha:) just get some wood for our fireplace ready again. We are supposed to get snow today! We had it by the 6th of October last year :cold: and I don't miss it a bit right now. Hoping to get a few more things (non-urget) accomplished since Aeryn is taking her sweet time.....

Ok...so I was looking at my chart...again...as usual...repeatedly...and I have some thoughts and questions.

I usually have spotting before AF shows up and sometimes I have a difficult time determining when my cycle actually starts. (If I did OPK that would at least help determine when I ovulate...)

BUT...WHAT IF my temperature spike on CD 9 was when I actually ovulated? (we :sex: on the morning of CD 8 and CD 9) And then the dip on CD 18 would be my implantation dip? Timing would be perfect for a BFP soon...right? Nevertheless, I am still spotting...but it is mostly pink and brown...(TMI, I know )

Every month, I am always so hopeful (for the most part). I am also trying to figure out this dull lower back pain. I have researched it and it is not a common early pregnancy symptom, but I also have VERY sore BBs (but that usually happens). Hmmm...just got a little wishful thinking going on...:winkwink:

The tests to determine if you have PCOS should include a hormone panel. At least they do here. Along with the ultrasound. I wish you could convince your Dr that you were trying for longer so you could get in to the FS with it being paid by your NHS!! Don't those waiting periods change as you get older? They do here. If you are in your 20s and TTC, they suggest 1 year here. But once you get above 30 they suggest 6 months, and over 35 I think they just say go get yourself checked out with a FS if you want.

I just hope that he finds something wrong, or suggests something that will help you get pregnant!

You are so funny! Yes I had a needle put into my foot and it hurt like a Sonuvab@#$ he did numb my foot first, but it still hurt. It feels a lot better now though. I can actually walk on it now without limping. :happydance:

Yes, I agree with you, getting a well rounded donor (smart, athletic, etc) that has a clear medical history, and has similar coloring to me is what I'm looking for. Sounds simple right? HAHAHA. :haha:

HMM.. I must say I'm angry at your bump.. what won't she come out? Maybe doing some log splitting will help her to pop out? Just be super careful, and don't over do it, or you could end up in the hospital for other reasons entirely! So be super careful!!

Ah, my 8 year old is driving me insane. I home school her and she is advanced- they skipped her into third grade and she has been doing awesome! But I have noticed since the baby is due very soon that she is "regressing" with determination. She forgot how to tell time this morning  I can ask her what time it is and instead of her characteristic "32 minutes and ten seconds past the hour of..." she'll say something like "it is a billion o'clock ago" WTF?! :hissy: Or if I give her a word problem in math like "Tommy has 10 playing cars and Bobby has 5 playing cards - how many cards altogether?" then I'll ask is this addition, subtraction, or multiplication? She'll think really hard for a moment then say emphatically "division". :hissy: So dh has promised to take over teaching when she gets "ignorant" with me and I am soooo taking him up on it! :haha:. I talked to dd's last night about their concerns regarding babes being born and changes taking place and that it is all going to be positive and we'll still love them, etc, but I think it is starting to hit home for them now that she really is coming son. What's a mom to do? :sad1: Plus I told T since she is 8 years old now she can come out and help me with the wood cutting and that she really needs to focus on her chores and responsibilities, etc. So know what she does? She goes and asks her dad to fill in for her in the wood cutting because she wants to go play with her toys! :hissy: Huh-UH.

Jess - you could be on to something...if your temp is anything to go by then you very possibly could have ov'd on CD8 putting your temp spike at CD9...and putting your bd'ing at PERFECT! :) You def showed a spike in temp on CD9 though. But your cm is a huge indicator also and you listed ewcm at CD14-15...STILL your bd'ing is perfect as you bd'd the CD14 and plus you had the waiting-in-the-wings :spermy: from CD9. Either way at CD24 (FF proclaimed 10DPO) you could still probably test. I mean if it were me (I know I know- not a standard to live by :haha: lol!) I'd be testing with FMU in the morning  I am horrible at self control when it comes to poas - even when I am almost positive it'll be negative iykwim?

Ali- thanks, I will be super careful. I told the dd's their job today is to do all my bending over for me :haha: Which would make my job easy...and I am irritated at the bump too! :grr: Silly baby come out!

It is normal for kids to regress when they fear impending change. Best way to deal with it (so I have heard) is to involve them in the changes. Like having them help with the wood, or having them help with setting up the changing table, and folding the baby clothes, and having them help out in the kitchen. Show them that they are still included and well loved. I'm sure things will get back to normal once babes is here, and things settle down. If she would just hurry up and appear! AHAHAHA.. even I'm getting frustrated

OHOH.. Coy.. are you still chopping wood?

Where is everyone? :sadangel:

Ali- Thank you! I appreciate your frustration, believe me! It helps to spread it around, lol!

Yes, I have been trying to include them but I have to be careful...I let them help fold but then th elittle one thinks she can get BACK intot he drawers and redo evrything...which means I get to redo it later

We all went out and cut fireplace wood, the dd's loved it as dh let them help with the logsplitter. They cleaned up all their toys and stacked everything so it is not lost once it snows. Drained all the hoses for winter, put stuff away... Now we are going to take a walk to the store for gatorade :haha:

I did feel a few cramping pains that got me all hopeful but they went away  My next appointment is day after tomorrow - I honestly didn't think she'd go overdue so I am seriously frustrated at this point :haha: Wonder what my doc will say......

So you start your new cycle on the 9th of November? Is that stilla go or did they change the dates? Yikes! How soon do you need the :spermy: ??

She goes and asks her dad to fill in for her in the wood cutting because she wants to go play with her toys! :hissy: Huh-UH.
