Welcome to 'Trying To Conceive Over 35'

Hey Everyone!! :hi:

Zoe is 10 today! I posted a picture of her when she was just a few months old, such a cutie pie! Even in her studded red collar :haha:

She just has this little lump on her shoulder blade that she's had for years, but is a little suspect. So we are going to have that removed, she'll get a teeth cleaning and a really good nail clipping. So really none of it is serious, I just want to get it done, and get her recovering.

As for me, I want to get the culpocsopy done ASAP because I don't want the invasion up there to mess with my cycle. I also want to know if we are dealing with anything serious, having suspect lesions in your cervix is not good! I have heard that they often get 'shed' during birth so if all else fails maybe my miracle pregnancy will fix it all!

As for the OPK debate between BabyDust and BabyWhisperer. Here is what I have to say on them. I love the CBE ones that have the happy face, yes they are expensive but they work. They will tell you when you are surging, and if you take them every day during the week you think you are going to ovulate, and continue to take them. Oh and I have heard that it is best to take them in the early afternoon. You will see that your body will likely ovulate 12-36 hours after the first smiley face. When I was using them, I would test in the morning and afternoon and would test until it was gone. I noticed that sometimes I'd get a negative in the morning but a positive in the afternoon, so make sure you test in the afternoon! Then I would use my temp as a guide as to when I actually O'd. The day after I ovulated my temps would begin to rise. This rise is from the progesterone that is being released by the corpus luteum, so this should rise, you might see a 3rd rise in temperature after the embryo implants, this is what they call a triphasic chart. The higher temps are due to the implantation and the additional increase in progesterone needed to sustain the pregnancy. Finally you add in the CM, and the progression of your CM will follow the same pattern, it will start out watery for a few days, this is your lead up to your ultimate fertile window, I found that my EWCM came the same day or the day before I got my first smiley on OPK. So when you first see that it is time to jump your man! The EWCM will last until you ovulate. So that is why the 3 CM, OPK and temps are helpful to determine when you are ovulating.

My advice to you is to start getting busy in the coming months about 1 week before you think you will ovulate, go for every other day, then step it up once you either see the EWCM or the OPK gives you a smiley face, then do it daily until FF says you ovulated. That way you are doubly sure to get enough BD'ing in!

I hope that you won't need my advice and that you are already with child!

I was using the smiley CB tests and testing when I got home from work. The first smiley on cd10 had a test line a little more faint than the ref line. The second smiley on cd11 the test line and ref line were equal. I got neg tests on cd9 and cd 12. So I think I didn't ovu on cd11 since that was my strongest test line. Does that sound right?

Happy Bday to Zoe!!

Hey Babywhisperer, the smileys Ali mentions are Clearblue Digital tests, they don't have lines, they just show smiley faces when its positive.

The lines inside these tests are apparently not testing for the same things as the other ones that have lines on, so if you have a smiley face, it doesn't mean you will get 2 lines. Sometimes you will get 2 lines and no smiley too because they are recognising different hormones. Hope that makes sense.

I think the lines do correspond with the smileys. When I got a - on cd9, there was such a faint test line. The 2 day I got smileys the test lines were almost as dark and then equal to the ref line on cd 10 then 11. On cd 12 when I got no smiley the test line had faded a lot from the previous day...so I think they do correspond. Here is the test I get
https://www.clearblueeasy.com/clearblue-easy-digital-ovulation-test.php

Yes, these are the ones I get too and it tells you in the instructions "You cannot determine your result from any lines that you see on the test stick". I also read somewhere something about those lines showing up with different hormones, but I can't find it at the moment.

Oh dear, sorry about that. It tells you that when you see the first smiley face, you will usually ovulate within 12-36 hours, so you shouldn't need to do any further tests. Just to confuse things though, I did continue to test and the smiley had gone the next day. My temps didn't change, so I kept on testing and a week later, I got another smiley, I actually then had a couple of days of them, followed by a temperature rise. The idea of the smiley faces is so that you don't have to interpret any lines.

Looking at your chart and going by what Clearblue say, you got your first smiley on CD10, so that would say you would ovulate between 12 and 36 hours later. You got another smiley on CD11 because, there are still some hours left from the test on CD10, so you would show smileys on both days. I would still say that you ov'd on CD12, but there is a possibility it was CD13. It sounds like you got loads of BDing in, so you should be totally covered as sperm stays alive for up to 5 or 7 days, so you would have had some 'sleeping', just waiting for the egg to come. Fingers crossed it all works out OK and you don't have to think about it again eh? :hugs:

So why would countdowntopregnancy.com have me ovu 2 days later with the same info on opks and temps? I just figure it's the mean..FF says cd11, CTP says cd13, so maybe it was cd12, the day after my second smiley which previous months have been too...I also didn't feel ovu cramps until cd13. Ugh.

Its a weird one, I'll give you that. Its strange that you'd be given CD13, they don't seem to take the temperatures into account. Personally I don't think it would have been CD10, but I would say either 11 or 12. I think CD13 would be too late, but that is just my opinion. If you normally ovulate on CD12 and you got plenty of :spermys: sitting waiting, then I'm sure you have done everything you could have this cycle. I guess all that it really means is that you're not really sure when to test as you can't change what you did around that time.

I have used Countdown to pregnancy before and found it differred from FF, not by much, but there was a difference, so I decided to just stick with FF. I don't know about any ovu pain you felt on CD13, but I think you would have seen a smiley face on CD12 if thats when you ovulated.

Terri- hope all goes well with the blood tests- keep us posted when you get them  Glad womb and all is A-OK and what did doc recommend if you do have pcos?

AFM- rough night but to be expected. Aeryn has decided to take advantage of Mom's boobs :growlmad: and seems to think they are ready and available just, you know, anytime  lol! I am having to make her really get loud and ask nice to keep her at 1.5-2 hours...otherwise it'll be a little bit here and there every 10 minutes  Give'em an inch- they take a mile :haha: Other than that she pooped numerous times  and we ended up with mass explosions on both ends  so had to change clothes....She's doing very well and actually gained 2 ounces yesterday! :happydance: What an over achiever already! The nurse told me she should have lost weight by now but she's gaining :cloud9:

I am a mental-budgeting-wreck at the moment, trying to "make the first" of next month :haha: Aaargh!

Wow! PAGES to catch up on! :happydance:

Babydust- still above your cover line at 9DPO :happydance: PLEASE :test: I am going nutso waiting :growlmad: LOL! Aw, you poor lady- kids'll drive you  I hope she passes it okay and doesn't do that again lol! :haha:...Ah, kids- what can you do?

Alin- faint line? FAINT LINE?! @9DPO? And you didn't post a pic? :nope: .....:sadangel:......

Ali- I hope baby-dog gets better soon, it is tough when they get old and have troubles but she should be just fine  Keep us posted :hugs: What's up with that stupid over-seas meds company? :growlmad: You want I should go all :ninja: on them? Zoe- Happy Birthday! :cake: I had a "puppy" lived past 17! So don't let anyone say you are old....(yet) :)

You are doing great. I've heard nursing is exhausting. I commend you on maintaining that schedule. How are you sleeping? Are you able to pump and have dh give her a feeding to let you sleep?

Afm I'm not testing with af potentially coming Wed or Fri. It's too soon. If and when I do test I will tell you ASAP. I promise. You're such a bad influence!! Ha! Miss you.

I'm inclined to believe you ovulated on CD12, from your OPK and temps. I read on the instructions on the CBE OPK tests that you shouldn't use the lines on the inside for further help, but I remember doing the same thing!! :haha: I also read somewhere that they not only take into account your LH surge, but your estrogen levels too (not sure if that is true). So looking at your chart, that would be my guess, CD12.

I certainly hope that this is your month!

Babywhisperer- I agree with Ali! Fx'd!

Alin- Yay for the pic! :happydance: I see it too! Faint but defo there! :headspin: Frer time soon?

Ali- :hi: Hi there lady! How are you doing? I am feeling better now so able to catch up a bit- whew! Pages today :hugs:

I just got back from a walk- I decided the sooner I start the soner I'll feel better. I wore a belt/brace/type thingy around my middle trying to help my uterus shrink...I still look about 6 months prego :haha: That drives me nuts...you'd think after all the PAIN and drama that we'de be svelt after labor, right? We should....:haha:

Well, now I feel like crap. I wanted to help dh get fireplace wood, right? So I would just go out and bring in a piece or two, never more than a few steps away from babes while she slept soundly. Well, I picked up one of our hatchets to chop a piece of wood in half and dh reaches over and grabs it from me and starts to swing it himself and ends up missing and hitting his leg instead. *sigh* Now he is mad at me and says it's my fault for distracting him and preventing him from "concentrating". :saywhat: Um, how is this my fault? He took it away from me  Anyway so I got my feelings all fussed up :haha: and said to hell with it all and came in the house :growlmad: So much for helping....:sadangel:....

AWE.. I'm sure he was just trying to help you, and keep you safe! You just had a big momentous thing happen! So hopefully you can just relax and take care of your babes

........Where is everyone....? :nope:

Look, ladies...we have some of you seriously approaching test time and I can't take this kind of pressure! :haha: I come on expecting :bfp: announcements- any day now!!! Then, when I come on...no one is here...:sadangel:...lol! :hugs:

Well, I am going to go stalk all your charts, so THERE! :haha:......

AFM- OM< OMG, I am wearing jeans today!! :happydance: And they button and zip ladies! :headspin: lol! You can't know how much it means to me NOT to be wearing elastic pants today :cloud9: lol!

I feel pretty good at the moment...Aeryn is becoming a gorgeous litle feeder and she sleeps about 2 hours ata time at night so I get rest in between, even with all the diaper changing. On that note she is pooping like a pro now :haha: And she has attitude, she evn talks back, I think she is very intelligent! When I talk to her while she is nursing she'll stop and squeek back at me then continue :haha: Funny baby :cloud9: I think my dd's are doing awesoemly with the change- a bit of protest is natural, they have decided breakfast time is food-fight time :growlmad: and when I say :shhh: shhh the baby is sleeping they decide to romp...Other than that they have been pretty darned great.

Not sure if I asked before but does anyone want the gruesome (ha ha) labor story? I could write it out :haha: lol! I think I will write one and post to one of the birthing threads in bnb...It always helps me to read the other stories before I go into labor--something like a sounding board iykwim.... Nothing extreme, everything was so simple. I am happy I didn't tear

T's sore throat is gone, the doc checked and said he thought it was tsrep but test came back negative  so he put her on an antibiotic and her throat looks sooOoo much better and no more fever!

Ali- how are you today?

Jess- ...WHERE are you...? :nope:

Well, I am going to go stalk all your charts, so THERE! :haha:......

I'm around! I'm having a productive day.. laundry, cleaning and I've pulled the covers off the couch cushions and threw them in the wash. I was thinking about making chili but figured I would wait, maybe make it tomorrow. HMM..
I don't have a chart to stalk! :haha:
I can hardly wait until I can get off this pill! I think it's made me put on a few pounds. I keep craving bad foods, or maybe it's because I'm not smoking and I'm craving sweets to replace it? I need to start working on eating healthier and get some exercise. Now that my foot is better and it's getting cooler out I'm going to get walking with the doggies!

How are you? Aeryn doing well?

Here is a photo I took yesterday...

Ali!! Yay, I am not alone :cloud9: lol! No, you are craving sweets because you are a woman. End of story. :haha: I am the same way, I want something like chocolate or ice cream sooo bad right now. Good thing I don't have the funds to purchase it atm or I'd be totally gaining instead of losing right now

I am glad your foot is doing better! Just be careful- the shot may mask the pain you don't want to cause damage iykwim? Re: the BCP...I know, it must be frustrating for you but try not to view it as bc...try to look at it as the first step in your stimming. In a way - it is. Your doc prescribed it and aid the effects would be beneficial, so  I think you are doing the right thing! And on smoking- I am proud of you for quitting, I know it can be super danged hard, not just the tobacco but you become addicted to the other stuff they put in them. Unfortunately all that other stuff is bad! So glad you quit :hugs: I am glad my dh quit years ago too when I was preggo with our first! He is in a lot of pain from his legs today...Btw, he did not cut himself with the hatchet- he had on super duty pants :haha: and it wasn't that sharp, so  I was just irritated that he blamed me when he's the one that snatched the axe  Anyway- MEN! lol! Our weather is crazy atm- snow, rain, fog, clouds, sunny, windy warm. The barometric pressure is playing havoc on mis legs :(

No pics of the birthday pup?

And what's up with my girls today? O my heck, I tell them "let your papa rest, he is meditating because his legs hurt so bad". So what do they do? Solemnly nod their heads then they go sit on his lap (yes, both at the same time ) and compete with each other for noise  Wth is that all about? Anyways, he handles it so well, he's very good with them so I try to stay out of it as much as I can....
They are good sisters and love each other very much, i think they are just experiencing the natural worry of being "forsaken" :haha: Poor things :)

Re: Aeryn's pic...notice her pointy little chin? :haha: Cute. And her lips are very full she just has them sucked in here......
