Welcome to 'Trying To Conceive Over 35'

Coy congrats on losing an inch on your waist! Good reason to go clothes shopping! Yes I agree that is expensive for the gym. Don't you have your own gym at home?

I just did another OPK and a second day of very strong positive!

Chantal...I hate my first name :growlmad: LOL! That is why I have always gone by Coy--even my parents never called me "Larenda" it is strange to my ears when I hear it. Weird, huh?!

Ooooo...I just saw a new place open downtown it is a 24/7 fitness building. Hm. It has the number to our local hospital emblazoned across the front and a key-pad entrance code  I'm gonna call and find out what's what!!!

HEHE.. I feel the same way about my first name, I don't even answer to it! Thing is that since it is my legal name that is the name that my medical records are in, so imagine waking up from a procedure and people calling you a name you don't use! It is pretty odd. My first name is Catherine. I don't mind it all that much, it just isn't mine. Does that make any sense?

Coy - congrats on losing an inch! I think the last time I weighed 117 lbs I was 15! GEESH! I know I was 125 at 18, so I doubt I will EVER see 117 again!

I agree, that is expensive for a small gym. My gym is HUGE has all sorts of stuff in it, including a pool. It is only 17.50/mo which I pay for the year up front. Too bad there wasn't a crossfit near you, I could see you loving it there! Check it out online, I'm sure there is a website for them. I think they are only $10/mo or something like that.

Wow COY! How did you do I?. I wish I could focus on me. I'm so exhausted ladies. I feel drained from work.

In New York, 35 is a good price. I pay $60 a month and I don't even get there and I get a discount rate. It runs $82.00 a month for NYSC.

What's new with everyone? I feel so out of the loop.

So, I weighed the other day on my bathroom scale and it says I weigh 117...which is 5 pounds less than when I got preggo with Aeryn. AND I measured my waist today and I have losta whole inch in the last 10 days! :happydance: Not sure if that is significant in the whole scheme of fitness atm but I am happy about it :winkwink: Problem is now my clothes are once again transitional...so I am digging trying to find something that's not too tight making me feel fat and not so loose I feel saggy and frumpy :sad1: I got problems, right? :winkwink: lol!

No smiley face on the evening OPK. Maybe we're all done and I can just get on with the TWW.

Good morning!
We had a thunderstorm here last night and internet wasn't working. Still very windy and 4 inches rain fell. I wasn't able to post the OPK pic so here it is. Test line seems darker than control line what do you ladies think? This morning my temp still haven't risen :( I am thinking maybe the flu shot I had on Saturday delayed ovulation?

I think you are right! the line looks darker!
I like storms- I find them exhilarating. We've had a day or two of snowstorms here and aside from drivers always forgetting how to drive in the snow, I love it. of course, I prefer a good rainstorm/ thunderstorm!

AFM:
so far I've shed 25 lbs from my pre-pregnancy weight! I put on some pre-pregnancy jeans and they look awful... the bum is too baggy and they are falling off of me.... oh bother! I guess I need to go shopping for a new pair!! *wink*
totally doing a happy dance here!
just waiting on the dr's go ahead to start doing some exercise... I want to keep the weight I've shed, off.... I think trying to eat like I was when pregnant will help too. avoiding gluten, watching carbs, drinking copious amounts of water, eating some protein when eating carbs, and drinking more water! water, water, water! more water equals more milk supply.... but I'm tired of drinking it!
how are all my bnb ladies doing today!

:hi: everyone!
Coy and Phil...y'all are awesome with your weight loss!

Coy
, how in the world did you manage to lose that much off your waist in 10 days? I'm so jealous!

Phil, am I understanding you correctly? You are 25 pounds below where you were before you got pregnant? AMAZING!!

After I have another baby I want to be JUST LIKE Y'ALL!

Sam...what do you do for a living? You should absolutely take time to focus on you. Get some exercise. It will actually give you energy. :)

Twig...I am in the TWW with you. I keep thinking how awesome it would be if I could tell BF on Valentine's Day that we are going to have a baby. He always says that I will never be able to out do him on that day, but I bet news like that would trump anything he has planned!! If I get my BFP I will have to come up with a cute/clever way of telling him. :)

Chantal...I had no idea that a flu shot could affect a woman's body like that. Wow...the more I learn the more I realize how little I know!! And your test line is definitely darker than the control line.

Hi Jess :hi: What is new with you? Yes I agree I would love to have a bfp for Valentine's, especially since dh's 40th birthday is the 13th Feb!!

I am only guessing about the flu shot, but this is the first time I have had 2 days positive opks with the test line darker than the control.

I have a question. If you look at twiggers' chart fertility friend said her O day was day 12 but she had 3 postitive opk days following that? I have been temping for 3 years but only recently started doing opk's What is the point of doing opk if it is after O day and doesn't tell you before ovulation? Might as well just chart and forget about poas? By my chart I would normally figure I ovulated on day 13 but this opk thing has me confused!

I would go with the OPK. There are so many things that can effect our temperatures...but the LH rise is there regardless of how much sleep we get or when we take the temperature. FF is making a guess based on a number of factors including the temperature. But the LH surge is not a guess. It is really happening and it really happens right before you ovulate. (Just my opinion)

I agree with Jess, OPK is a better gauge of ovulation than temping. Course I prefer the digital ones as they are easier to read than the cheapies. You are either ovulating or you are not ( ) or :) it takes the guessing out of it. I would also go with your EWCM over temping too. EWCM is a product of your estrogen rising to the point where it has peaked, and the LH surge follows that peak. So :sex: when you have EWCM is perfect timing!!! Temping is only accurate if you are a perfect sleeper, and go to bed at the same time, and wake up at the same time, and the temp in the room is always the same, and you aren't sick, or taking any medications. So temping can be used, but it is not as accurate.

Thanks ladies! You are right Ali, the only reliable sign seems to be the EWCM. I have more of it the closer I get to O day. When I check cervix it is also soft and open. Dh said this morning "well the tank is empty iykwim" He cracks me up  Four nights in a row I told him he his effort this cycle was definately awesome!

Ali how are you feeling from the flu? I have been so scared to go anywhere since I got my flu shot on Saturday. I had some company on Saturday and was relieved that they didn't have the sniffles as the shot takes 2 weeks to kick in and I don't want to get sick before we go on vacation.

Did anyone see the Today show this morning? Jane Krakowski from 30 Rock Smooched Dr Oz. Poor Dr Oz looked embaressed. He then but red tape forming an x on his mouth. Jane was holding his face to make sure he couldn't move. Shame on her for doing that. She also kissed Jason Bateman but he's an actor so just another day for him. It reminded me of an incident where my Dad had a birthday party and a woman did the exact same thing and he was mortified and told my Mom he was sorry but he didn't see it coming.

Hi ladies!

First off- I agree with Jess...I think relying upon our CM and OPK is far more accurate than temping. Cripes I had a 98 spike and got AF  so it is not always reliable. I think for predicting ov cm is really good too within a 3-5 day period.

Hm, re:weight loss. I have been focusing on a lot of protein ... plus forgetting to eat helps  lol! I hve been incorporating some carbs back in though, dh says I need it  Hm...

Jess- how are you feeling? Did you run today? What a woman- running on your lunch hour when most of us would be :pizza: lol!

Ali- hope you are kicking this darned flu!

Chantal- re:opk'ing. As stated above I think following opk and cm is best and try not to stress over temping!

Samsfan- Your job seems very stressful I think since you HAVE to do it  then trying to find things that give you energy...my advice? Hm...avoid heavy carbs, no pizza, no pastas, etc, maybe focus on stuff like Subway sandwiches loaded with veggies and meats, snacks like yogurt--avoid high sugar that'll drop you like a hard punch :sad1: If you get a sweet tooth maybe try yogurt, granola snacks, etc? Then a quick walk every morning or afternoon would be great- ENDORPHINS!!

Coy I am not stressing over temping. It has become part of my wake-up ritual as I have been doing it for 3 years. We used to bd every other day from the time I saw ewcm. However this month dh suggested we use opks because he said I was guessing with the ewcm. So when I saw the positive opk we :sex: that day and then it was positive again so figured I was surging but no egg was released :( So it's the opk stressing me out lol
This month makes 3 years since I miscarried and I get like this every January, I pray that our little angel might come back to us. I know I need to stop hoping for a miracle pregnancy and go to another RE but I am quite tired of going through ivf cycles, injecting myself with fertility drugs with nothing at the end of it all At least when you have embryos waiting for you like Ali there is hope. I am so tired of failing. Sorry for rambling but winter is getting to me. This morning I told dh that I would like to move back to Barbados but i know that isn't happening :growlmad:

Chantal- I know, opk's CAN be stressful! The whole ttc process can be stressful. What has RE said to you? o they recommend IVF? How is your dh's SA? I am rying to remember, I know we have discussed it before...My brain  I ony got maybe 2 hours of sleep so I am rummy today!

I know- winter can be very depressing. My dh is always in pain because of his neuropathy, etc, and wniter months make it so much harder :sad1: We want to move somewhere warmr with steady barometer like California or Hawaaii  Plus I'm bound to tan eventually! :happydance: lol!

Hey ladies--- I agree the OPK is helpful... I just started temping and I can't even get the crosshairs. I was on trial this week..it is done so I feel better now. I agree I need to incorporate exercise again. I used to exercise every day. Every night I say I'm going to wake up and go to the gym and every morning its dark and I want to sleep an extra 10 minutes and it turns into 30 and then I'm out the door. Night time working out doesn't work for me.

Grey eyes- Believe it or not I try to stay away from carbs. I have been bad lately though. My soft spot is fries. Maybe your right instead of hot yoga or spin I should just try a simple walk and get energy. I have my refrigerator at work stuffed with greek yogurt... and for lunch I usually have chicken and veggies, but when I get home somehow it goes down hill:muaha:

I haven't had a :wine: in a while... So guess what I'm doing right now.:happydance: and having some lamb chops.. no carbs

Tomorrow I'm going to the endo..lets see what he has to say.

Ali- feel better!!!!! When are you starting your cycle.
