Hi ladies, this is my first post here so please bear with me...

DH and I are TTC, I went off the pill in March after being on it for almost 7 years. AF didn't come for 3 months after that, and when she came it was only for about 2-3 very light days. I went on the BCP when I was 19 and back in those days I didn't ever track my periods (cursing myself now) so honestly I can't remember if they were regular or not. I'm really worried that because it took so long after going off BC that it's going to impact my fertility now. Does anyone have any experience with this? I just don't want to get myself all worked up over nothing, but I also don't want to wait until AF comes again before we start really TTC.

Thanks in advance!

Hi! I just went off BC in March as well, after being on it for almost seven years. Crazy! I did get AF right on schedule (after a withdrawal bleed a couple days after stopping the pill), and have been regular ever since. HOWEVER, I didn't actually ovulate regularly until June - when I had cramps and light spotting right when I started to ovulate.

From everything I've read and heard, everyone has a completely different reaction to going off the birth control pill. Some get pregnant right away, sometimes it takes 6-12 months, sometimes longer than that, some people get pregnant on the pill. I had no idea how much it varied - I thought (hoped) that DH and I would get pregnant right away. Looking back, I wish I would have stopped taking the pill in December, then maybe started actively trying in March. It sucks when you want to get pregnant right away, and your body is still so full of those bcp hormones. It doesn't sound like you have any reason to be concerned with fertility issues - likely you are still just adjusting to regular cycles.

Anyway, where are you at in your cycle now? Are you planning on tracking at all? I started using the ovulation trackers in June, because like you I had been on the pill for so long that I had never tracked my cycles before that. I use the ClearBlue ones and they seem to work :) A lot of the ladies here do temping, but I haven't started that yet. I think that would probably stress me out too much at this point.

Sorry to write you a novel lol, but hoping this helps a bit.

I went off birth bontrol after doing it seasonally for 5 years, had no real issues. I did get pregnant right away and also lost it almost immediately because my lining was too thin.
Everyone is different. You can buy packs of 100 ovulation tests online for very cheap. Hang in there and stay positive!

I'm in a similar boat. I went off BCP in April when I got married. First withdrawal bleed was normal, second month was pretty typical (29 days), but with more heightened PMS symptoms. Guess my body was playing catch up after 10 years of BCP! Cycle 3 was NOT ordinary. Lasted 60 days and ZERO of my usual PMS symptoms (sore back & cramps), but bloating for weeks. I had to take magnesium to try to restore my body's stores, which seemed to help. I'm on CD4 now and AF seems to be pretty much done, which is quicker than I was expecting! First 3 days were normal, today was pretty light. We'll see what tomorrow brings. I've got Vitex & EPO ready to start tomorrow if AF is gone and hopefully this month will be a bit more regulated with that and my magnesium!
