Wow, I've read this all in one go and just got to the end. I don't think its right to smoke weed if children are in the house asleep or otherwise. That's just my personal opinion which I do have reasons for. Me and hubby don't take drugs and never have and neither do we drink around Daisy. Even when she's asleep in bed.

And who said that MATURE Marijuana users aren't responsible? My child is bathed and fed. My house is clean as a whip and my checkbook is balanced. I have my own photography studio (which I do not work at while under) and I had a full time job that I excelled at for two years. Most of which I was under for. The day I found out I was pregnant I quit. It wasn't hard at all. Just had to break the habit of my own routine that involved rolling a blunt.
All in all I'd say that I am full blown adult, and I'm light years ahead of most of the people I know my age. I might smoke Weed but I'm one hell of a mother and a damn hard worker.
I won't be posting on here any more. (for real this time) cause I don't need someone that I don't know, and will have no influence on my actions telling me what kind of person she "thinks" I am.

Neither do we. You never know when your child will wake or if you need to drive them to hospital, etc. For me, it is just not worth it.

I think the issue of alcohol is slightly different - there's lots of mothers who enjoy a glass of wine with a meal in the evening when their children are asleep but that doesn't make them an irresponsible parent. Again it's taking anything to excess that causes a problem. Personally I don't agree with use of marijuana or any other mind-altering drug (legal and illegal) around children - I'm a nurse and have seen people who have long term mental health problems which have been associated with their use of marijuana.

Marijuana isn't illegal everywhere (Amsterdam), so does that mean that only if illegal it's bad? This comment is directed to all of those who have said that THAT is the difference (I know many have said both alcohol and weed are bad - this comment isn't directed at you). Secondly, marijuana has many positive properties. That is why you can smoke it LEGALLY for medicinal reasons. My father has a license to grow and smoke marijuana, but to get the license he had to prove he had been smoking it illegally for years. Go figure, huh? Anyhow, I have no expectations of changing anyone's mind or opinion on weed, just as I don't expect to change my opinion of recreational weed use. I do think however that if I respect someone's choice to not smoke it ever (not like we're telling everyone they should smoke a spliff too!) then I should expect the same respect to be an occasional smoker.

im sure there are websites out there i could look up to show harmful effects of marijuana and why it should remain illegal just like there are sites that tell you the moon is made of cheese

any side of any argument can be backed up by a myriad of internet sites

i stand by the fact that by recreationally smoking marijuana you are breaking the law and therefore teaching your child>>>>(IMO)<<< to disrespect laws that are there for a reason

how is it teaching your children to disrespect the law if it's done discreetly?
My dad smoked weed his entire life and I never had a CLUE untill I was 16 when he caught ME smoking it and we had a discussion about it where he admitted to smoking it but it wasn;t something he was proud of and wanted better for me etc etc.

so they find out youve been breaking the law for years and everything youve ever taught them about right and wrong goes out of the window because you look like a hypocrite
the thing with kids(not babies obv) is that theyre not as silly as they seem, for example i plainly remember my father smoking weed 'secretly' when i was 8 years old and younger

this comment actually just doesnt stand for pot smoking it really goes for anything illegal so dont take it as offensive as such

ive seen first hand the damage regular recreational cannabis use does and it isnt pretty it affects long term mental health and although not said to be addictive people do become reliant on it

why do people think amsterdam = weed???? I have relatives there who don't smoke it, actually most people there don't smoke it people just don't see the appeal, and its only legal smoked in certain places and its not the same stuff that you get sold on the streets here.

that is probably very true.. i found deep offense at the word "smack head" i know you didnt use the word with this intent but if you read my earlier post you will understand why. these people are sister/brothers/daughters/mothers etc

Yeah it's medical grade Marijuana. The saaaammmmeeee stuff that can be crowed and smoked by anyone if they just so happen to buy a dime and get a seed.
My father was also an avid smoker that just kicked it cause he moved to Chicago. As I child I knew something was going on in my basement when I wasn't allowed to go down there.
Then one day he just decided to sit us down and tell us about. It didn't change who he was as a father so we didn't care. His use didn't influence me to start smoking, this guy I was dating after I got out of the Army did.
