What am I lacking in?

Feel quite unwell today.

Headache, sick, exhausted and weak... And I also want to drink vinegar like it's a shot and I'm still 21...

I know cravings often lead you to get a nutrient you need but what is in vinegar??
 
You got me intrigued so I had a Google and found this...

Vinegar, and other acidic foods as well, help the body assimilate calcium, which is particularly important when a woman is pregnant. The body starts to crave the food when it is having difficulty storing calcium and getting enough nutrients. Many doctors advise patients to consume small amounts of vinegar on a regular basis to prevent anemia as well. If a pregnant women finds themselves continuously craving vinegar by itself, they should talk to their physician. In some instances, a very strong craving for vinegar can mean the woman has pica, which is an illness linked to nutritional deficiencies.Vinegar is a fairly healthy substance for women to crave. There are several different varieties, including balsamic, apple cider and white. Each has its own taste and is suitable for use in different recipes and foods.

I have always had anemia and this seems to fit with my love of malt vinegar. Talk to your doc but small amounts of vinegar seem healthy. Maybe try some fish and chips with malt vinegar? It is very good to dip fish into. Good luck. I hope you feel better.
 
That seems to fit with the stereotypical pickle craving for pregnant women, since it's a lot of vinegar. Thanks for the info, Carlyp. That's interesting. :flower:
 
Ooh KittyVentura I didn't realise you were expecting no 3. My DS and your DD are very close in age and I remember you from the boards then. I was crazy about crab sticks dipped in vinegar early on with this one - so obviously I was ticking the calcium and the zinc boxes at once. Very interesting
 
I was craving a bit of vinegar today it seems cause I made deviled eggs out of no where with some vinegar in them :3 nom nom nom
