What do you consider a big/small house?

Our house is absolutely tiny we need to move ASAP but can't find nothing we like.
We have 1 living room, the kitchen is v small,2 bedrooms which we can hardly move around in and a Teeny tiny bathroom. But having said that I still love it here and guess that's why we're struggling to find somewhere else. Wel only be looking for a 3 bed when we move though and I'm sure thatl be plenty big enough for us

It is definately about the feel! Our house is tiny compared to most on here but I love it and I love the area we live in :).... If any one's interested ;) here's a link to it on rightmove!

We live in a three bedroom flat, it is huge though. Before this we live in a terraced two bed with three children, it was tiny.

Like TG says, it's about feel. Our house is pretty small, 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, open plan kitchen and dining area and a living room. But the rooms are all the length of the house and dual aspect so feel spacious and airy. We could easily get 2 double beds in our bedroom plus 2 chest of drawers, my dressing table etc so it doesn't feel small iygwim. We also have a large raised decking area out of the back and a near 1/2 acre size plot on the side of the house which we could extend or build on and a front garden all surrounded by hedges so feels nice and private.

We are the end of 4 terraced cottages and the house feels warm and cosy in Winter with the exposed brickwork and light and airy in the Summer so best of both.

Is it too small? Not really, we only have 1 child. I miss a junk room but I wouldn't want to leave our location for just that extra.

My husband and I both grew up in 'large' houses and our parents still live in them so for us, this is quite different but it really does just have a perfect feel about it.

What's nice is that anyone who visits us, say how lovely our house feels and how welcoming it is, which is perfect for me. :)

Can you tell I love our house, haha.

Ours does feel big to me, but then I grew up in a tiny house full of big boys :haha:. MIL thinks its small but she has a massive house! When we were looking at houses there were some which were smaller size wise but felt like a better fit for us, I definitely think the feel of the place is really important.

Your is huge compare to mine!!!!
I have 2 year old detached 2 bedroom one small living room tiny bathroom and tiny kitchen!garden is quite good size and we have own drive way that the big bonus on my street!
I also have 2 under 2 who don't have place to play and keep hurting themselfs against walls doors and everything.my youngest sleeps with us in our bedroom and I can't put both in one room because there is no way to squeeze 2cotbeds there unles I throw away furniture and babies clothes.we are in progress of looking for house now so that's good because we are desperate for more space we had it o the market for 5 months and nothing so we are going to buy bigger house first move in and vacate small one because when is empty looks bigger and sell it!
My ideal house would be 3 bedroom minimum living room dining room toilet downstairs nice big kitchen conservatory and garage is a must plus of street parking!there is nothing o the market ATM but after new year hopefully something will come up!

To be honest I'd consider anything more than a living area, kitchen, bathroom and bedroom per child and one for the parents as a big house but that's because I am much happier and feel safer in smaller flats and couldn't imagine having a big house to have to clean.

we have an average 3 bed I think. We have a big drive on the front with space for 3 cars but we dont really use the land at all...apart from as a parking space LOL. We have a nice back garden with a shed etc. We have entrance hall, kitchen, lounge/diner, conservatory and then 2 outer sheds which OH uses for fish-tanks as they have electric.

I would definitely say its average but the layout makes it so much better than anywhere else we lived.

The location is a plus too. 5 mins from waterfront and 5mins from the open national park.

I do miss our downstairs loo though this pregnancy LOL.

Same here, we only have a 3 bedroom but its twice the size of many other three bedrooms we have seen and sometimes it feels a bit too big, even though I have 4 kids, our hallway is over 30ft long and the bedrooms are all really far apart. I'm not into big houses I couldn't handle it too much cleaning and the kids could be up to all sorts. My parent's house is 5 bedrooms (after extension) but the rooms are all on the small side and the landings and hallways narrow so it doesn't feel that big. My MIL is the same as me she finds big houses far too much and would move to a 3 or 4 bedroom flat but her kids still at home won't let her. OH on the other hand would love a big house. I wouldn't mind living in a caravan or on a boat but that's my gypsy blood for you, I said to OH if he ever gets a big massive house I'll be living in a caravan in the back garden :D xx

I would class large as extra bedroom, utility etc but it does depend on layout x

I have a massive 4 bedroom/2 reception room house.
Downstairs is a huge entrance hall that is almost a room in itself, a toilet, a play room, a large kitchen, a utility room and a HUGE lounge/diner (could be just a lounge if we turned the playroom into a dining room.
Upstairs is a massive master bedroom with en-suite, a double guest room with en-suite, another double room and a single room, plus a family bathroom.
The garden is a 5th of an acre and has a double garage and a well.

Pics below are when we first bought it - it needs a lot of work.

Sooo jealous right now lol! I'm drooling at your hall haha :haha:

That was the main thing that made me fall in love with it.
Here is another view from the front door!

Our house was brought as a 10 bed

We converted the back of the house into a "granny flat" for my parents. They have 3 bedrooms as they have friends to stay quite often with a kitchen 2 bathrooms and a lounge and dining area.

So we have a house with 7 bedrooms which was always necessary as we knew we wanted a big family. We have 3 bathrooms, 2 lounges and a dining area and a kitchen with a pantry and utility room of it.

When we brought it there was also four unused barns and we turned one of them into two holiday lets and another into a house for my sister and her children.

I would consider a small house to be 2 bedrooms, a kitchen, bathroom and a combined TV and dining space.

I think our house is pretty big. We've got 3 bedrooms, upstairs bathroom & loo, downstairs loo, upstairs and downstairs storage cupboards, massive living room, a dining room and a kitchen. I love our house.

We used to live in a tiny overpriced house with the kitchen in the living room which I hated with a passion. And it was so much more expensive than this house we have now. We'd no way have been able to bring a baby up there, there wasn't even space for a high chair and we had to eat on our knees on the sofa!

After looking at pics, it seems our downstairs is quite big. My hall is like the one above! x My friend has a new build 5 bed and the layout makes it seem very cramped. I think older houses sometimes tend to be a bit bigger. xx

Agreed, older houses seem to have bigger rooms and hallways. Our house has what is classed as a hallway/entryway, I can only just get the pushchair in lol.
