What do you feeding ladies wear?

I've never worn nursing clothes, and hardly ever any nursing bras. At home, I just wore a regular shelf bra cami. Nursing pads stayed in place just fine. In public for the first 4 mos I was able to not wear a bra and just wore a regular cami and whatever shirt I wanted. I needed a nursing bra when my supply started evening out. I'd just lift up my regular shirt and my cami would cover my belly and I'd just pull the top of my cami down and the strap over my shoulder to feed.

I bought 3 nursing vests which I wear under my normal clothes so I'm still covered when I get my boob out. I think they r a total must and of course a good nursing bra. I think I spend about £50 on clothes (needed some anyway after losing some weight) and I think im pretty much sorted for a few months

I just wear my normal clothes, but with a vest top underneath, lift one up, drop the otherQUOTE]

That's what I do too. most people don't even notice what you're doing that way as you don't have any flesh out.

I also bought a poncho (my little one was born in November, so more the weather for it then). I found it so useful for being able to tuck my son under and let him feed without having to worry about flashing (I'm not always that with it, I have previously fed, he's fallen asleep and away a little and I'm just having a coffee with my boob out-the shame!).

I don't leak at night so night time bras needed for me.

I got some vests from primark, cut the straps off and added hooks to the front of them so that they connect to my bra. It means that I can wear any top over them and when I unhook my bra the vest comes down with it, they're so handy!

That's a fab idea!

I wear two tops so I can do one up and one down. At night I don't wear anything, I don't really leak though, can't remember the last time I wore a breast pad.

With my first I had a few nursing tops. I agree the tanks are very nice. But with number 2 - they were worn out and I didn't have the $$ to splurge on new stuff... so I mostly just wear 2 tanks - Pull the outer one up and the under one down... nobody can see a thing.

I also wear a lot of normal t-shirts with v-necks. I can easily pull those down to expose a boob. If people are around I just cover with a light blanket or towel.

Button downs are good too...

You know, I would recommend buying at least one nursing top. They are really great when your baby is new, and maybe you don't have the hang of it all...it helps to be a little less exposed, which will make you feel more comfortable. Lifting your shirt up, for me, is embarssing, because I have a roll in my tummy now...that I really don't like showing off. The nursing tops hide that...which is great. You can really use any shirt, of course...I recommend something loose. But, I would give one nursing top a try, if you can. You won't be sorry!

Urgh I leak like crazy, always have done. I just get button up shirts that are soft from Next etc, they are easy to open up and nurse with, and I can wear them even after we fully wean.

Hi ladies,

I might be a bit late responding but Im a breastfeeding mum too, and relied heavily on primark and similar for their vest tops, but still didnt find it ideal at times, and I also agree that nursing tops are really expensive, when you have nappies and baby stuff to buy!!
As such, Ive started selling my own, set up a new business last week in fact :) And the most expensive one I sell is only £18. I actually was my own first customer lol!

If you would like to see what I have (and they are all brand of course) then add me as a friend on here and ill send you some pics.

Im very new to this business self employed malarky and I am also self funded so only have 4 styles in at the moment, but hope to get lots more in the future :)

I skipped the nursing bras and opted for sports bras instead. I wear tops that can stretch down so that I can pull the shirt down underneath my boob (along with my bra) to nurse. I used to use a lightweight muslin receiving blanket to cover myself when out in public, but bought an apron-style nursing cover recently after friends recommended one and I like it so much better.
