I've been told I will have to have a GTT test at around 25 weeks as I had a previous big baby, I am only of a small frame so its not to do wih my bmi or anything, just purely based on my last baby.

I've only had my booking appointment so far and the midwife hasn't told me what the test involves or anything, can anyone enlighten me? Will I have to see a consultant first??

Thank you
xx

There are two versions of the test, the one hour test and the three hour test. Usually they start with the one hour, and if you fail that do the three hour.

With the first one, they make you drink some sweet syrupy stuff, and then an hour later check your blood sugar level. For the three hour one, you have to fast overnight, you drink the sugar, then they check your bloods once an hour for 3 hours. It's pretty painless and straight forward, although I did think it was a strange form of torture to make a pregnant woman fast!!

Don't go drinking anything sugary before the 1 hour test, it can sway the results. Ask me how I know :)

Thanks for your reply hun. Go on tell me wat happened? I am a coca cola fiend and struggle to get out of bed without some

It wasn't too serious, just my lunchtime bottle of 7up was the whole reason I got tested in the first place!
