Hey girls just a quick question.

Me and the DH are going to be going to our new GP in the next few weeks after we move, and I will be asking to get test and/or referred as we have not had anything done and we've been trying 15months.

What tests should they be doing? I'm not really sure what happens after you've been trying for a year lol can someone give me an idea of what happens and what to ask for etc?

Thanks!

Tell him you've bn trying for 15 months, whether you have regular AF's, if you think you ovulate, if you or your partner have conceived before.
The first thing they'll likely do is bloods to get a hormone profile, they may do vaginal swabs and press your tummy to have a feel of your uterus.
They may also ask your partner to provide a sperm sample to make sure everything is ok with him.
Its tough making that initial appointment but being pro-active is a positive thing, and it'll be well worth it in the end.
Good luck! X

everything vickie said, when we went i have bloods taken and no internal, hubby had to take sperm sample to the fertility clinic then he had to redo it 3 months after for an accurate result.
my results came back fine so i didnt need any further investigation hubbys did so he needed an ultrasound on his man bits
it took us 2 years hun so keep your chin up

Hi, we are in Scotland so maybe a bit different. I went to docs after 6 months and they did 21 day bloods which confirmed I was ovulating. After 12months I went again and had repeat bloods. DH also sent for a SA which showed very high count but not brilliant motility. I have now been referred to gynae as next step is to get tubes checked. GP not concerned but its very frustrating after 15 months so know exactly how you feel. I am 31 and DH 36 so could be due to our age that things got done quicker.

thanks for answering girls :) its nice to be prepared! I'm trying to be positive but each month of bfn just grates away at any hope you have left.

We are also looking into surrogacy and adoption. So its good to have something to focus on lolol. I'm considering telling my family I am ttc and that we are thinking about using a surrogate lol, I have 3 sisters each who fell pregnant on the pill so lol I'll be putting hints out! :rofl:xxxxx

Like the others suggested, I would go to the appointment armed with as much information that you can have. When your first AF started, how often, how long, any family members with any genetic issues, or fertility issues. You said you have hypothyroidism...when you were diagnosed, what meds etc... Then they will probably start with blood tests. Good luck, and keep us posted.
