I am scheduled for my first appointment on January 21st. I will be 8 weeks, they schedule the first visit after 7 weeks, then they book an education appointment two weeks later which they said will take 90 minutes. Will they do a scan the first appointment? I am in New Jersey
Hoping to hear what everyone's first appointment was like !

Didn't wanna read and run, but I'm not American so it's probably different here. Here it's blood collection, history of parents and just general get to know. We don't get doppler until after 12 weeks and us isn't until after 20.

When I went I peed in a cup, answered questions about previous pregnancies and had a scan to confirm hb. Then they biked me for a prenatal appointment for 10 weeks.

I'm in Oregon, so I'm not sure it would be the same. But they schedule the first appt. around 8 weeks as well, and the first appt they do a full panel blood draw, a pap smear if you haven't had one done within a year, and an internal ultrasound to date the pregnancy and make sure everything looks good. I have my 8 week appt tomorrow!

In my other pregnancies, my first appointment was at 8 weeks and usually included blood draws, a urine pregnancy test, and health histories for both parents. Then I had my ultrasound and second OB appointment around 12 weeks.

This time is a bit different as I was seeing a specialist while TTC, so I'm not sure if things are any different now. I've gone through pregnancy care in Wisconsin and Michigan, so it might be different in your state.

I think typically they prefer to wait to do the first ultrasound until 12 weeks, but some doctors will do them earlier.

I had a pee test one heck of a medical history and then an ultrasound for confirmation.

I'm from CT!! At my first appointment, they asked me a bunch of questions about myself, the father, and our family history. Then they did the normal stuff like weigh me and take blood pressure, and I had to pee in a cup. I met with the doctor, who did a vaginal exam and did a pap, but only because I hadn't had one in two years. Then he did a scan so we could see the baby.

Afterwards, we asked him a bunch of questions that we had written in a notebook, but that was extra because of us, not him.

And every other appointment they just make me pee in a cup, take my weight and blood pressure, then the doctor comes in, we listen to the heartbeat, and they address any questions or concerns we may have. It takes 10 minutes lol.

My pregnancies have always had some kind of complication so I always had a little bit more in depth appointment sort of speak. I'm having my 5th ultrasound this trimester thursday. But at my first OFFICIAL ob appointment she took 6 vials of blood T_T (I am convinced that ob/gyns and their nurses are vampires, I'm just warning you if you don't like needles you WILL get stuck a lot) There wasn't a pelvic exam done as I had had one just a week before where my pregnancy was confirmed but normally you will get an ultrasound at 8 weeks.

Thank you everyone ! I was not sure if there would be an ultrasound.

I'm from Iowa but thought I would tell my experience. Similar to the others.

Nurse appointment at 8 weeks: Urine test, family medical history, calculate the due date, brochures/info about pregnancy, any questions, she said the doctor likes an us before he sees you to measure how far along you are. So I assume an us/scan depends on if your doctor wants one or not. :)

OB appointment at 9 weeks: Ultrasound at hospital - Then at the clinic he got to know us, told me I was anemic but everything else was fine (from the blood test), pap, breast exam, culture, and urine test (again).

My first pregnancy but this is what has happened so far! :)

im in nyc and had my 1st appt today. they took a urine sample, took my blood pressure and weight, they had me fill out a standard medical history form, then i went into the room and they did a "full exam". The doctor did a pap smear and checked my breasts, neither of which i was expecting, then she took my blood and they're going to call me back tomorrow to tell me my levels and set up my 1st ultra sound. not sure if thats similar to what you'll be experiencing
